1 month ago I did my hardest video to date, Linda VS New Baseline. Today's video changed that, I spent 40h of just searching for the right music alone on this one. A big thanks to everyone over at patreon that makes videos like this possible! much love to you all!
Eric this video's editing, both visually and musically is incredibly moving! Loved the closure the music gives to reflect Emil's mood upon leaving the boulder, loved the intensity of the first attempts that were really close. I am sure you might not be fully satisfied with this as you seem like a perfectionist but I have to say, this really hits the spot. It's weird how most climbing videos can look professional but not move you much, this video is definitely strong in emotional impact :) great job!
@@mattiacellottoaudiolibraries Thank you for such a beautiful comment, I have been running up the walls most of the time while doing this video. So it feels great that it turned out the way It did
I love these videos as they offer a much more cinematic feeling compared to most other climbing TH-cam videos, can I just say in terms of music I MUCH prefer the more brooding music like at 11:40 rather than the quicker paced "trappy" music which was on before. All in all though amazing job really pushing the boundaries and challenging the big documentary style videos!
The contrast in style from the gym climbing vlogs feels fresh and very welcome. This type of long-form storytelling really feels like something you were meant to do. I really enjoy that these videos showcase personalities and, most importantly for me, the spectrum of emotions in greater detail per video. Thanks again for a great video, all of your efforts do not go unnoticed!
It was so great to hear "Clair De Lune" composed by Debussy. It fits perfectly :) I love this format, I wish there was more videos from Magic Wood. Big thank you Eric and guys :)
You're never wrong with Debussy. Espacially when Debussy was young. That's when you want Debussy. I also recommend Bach, always finish on Bach never on Debussy.
These past few videos have honestly been your best work ever. I think that we can all really see how much work and effort are put into this videos through the beauty that they're able to capture
Emil: "... So yea, we've got a lot of boulders in store and it's going to be great. How do you feel?" -cuts away to travel sequence- Lol savage Eric. Great video btw
I think your interpretation is a little off there. To me it looks like some dialogue that's useful to the story, dialogue that's important to Emils story that is. The cut away could've been anywhere during that conversation. It was just that the useful part of that conversation to further Emils story had ended.
I really love this kind of video.. it feels not like another climbing video, seeing people climbing problems. Like with the video from Linda vs New Baseline, this video really "showed" us a little about Emil, how he feels, how he is.. And also the outdoor climbing shows just how strong of a climber these people are. Every video in the gym doesn't really mediate how hard these problems are, which they make look so easy. Really a great video! Thanks for sharing this story with us.
I can feel the effort that went into this. You definitely succeeding in producing personal bests, and i honestly think it's set the bar for climbing youtube as a whole, including brand videos. You ever thought of shooting for brands, or is it not your thing? You're thoroughly good enough. 2:48 is such a communicative scene 'see if it's...' emil casually campusing v11 at the end of a session, fuck off x
I was really moved by this video. The tension buildup with the editing and music. Beautiful! And Emil’s climbing is as impressive as always, you will come back and send it some time. No doubt ! 🤙🏻
Really appreciate your indoor climbing videos but this one was on another level entirely. Felt like a excerpt from a biopic, excellent production quality and really enjoyed the build-up, including the travel to Magic Woods. :)
legit one of the best climbing docs I've watched. it has that Lappnor Project vibe of being this really intense personal journey and you captured that so well.
Without a doubt, your best video to date. The music, the camera shots, the light... everything. It transcends climbing, and that's what makes it an incredible video, keep inspiring us, thank you so much
Emil cooling himself during his session in a cold alpine river at night is probably my favorite Emil/EKB moment ever. Super sick video, especially appreciated the choice of music!
@@mraccountoo It's a new firmware update to the gh5 and the new lense 10-25mm( collab with Leica) The 4k footage looks so much better also, will come online in a few hours, you have to check that out ;D
Wow Eric, you've outdone yourself. This is a beautiful video. Starts of funny and silly with the burrito microphone, then it dives into an emotional journey. I loved Emil's style and personality - calm and serene, yet you can tell he cares a lot. The whole thing was just quite moving to watch. Amazing job to the both of you
Watched this a couple times now. Love how when Emil is confident on something he is always so precise, always 100%. Even the difference between the flash go where he was a little slower and more calculated and his second go, there’s such a huge difference in how confidently he moves. He grabs a hold once, no adjustments, and goes on. It’s very inspiring to watch
Incredibly well done! Basically the first time i watched a bouldering clip and wanting nothing more than knowing if he finally succeeds in sending it. Had to resist skipping to the end to release the tension. Thank you for the effort!
I honestly really look forward to your videos. In a way I feel like you are documenting my life as well. This is who I've always been, I've just never known anyone else that shares my passion. Thank you
Emil, don’t sweat not sending it. Could it truly be a dream boulder if it’s crushed in two sessions? Gives you a reason to go back to Magic Wood! Silver linings and bright sides sir. Erik, brilliant!!! You captured the moment and effect perfectly.
Really good effort in editing and filming Eric, you definitly had the right picks for the music, it perfectly grasps the emotions you go through while projecting. Strong climbing by Emil off course too :D
This and your Linda VS... video, really mark a new chapter the development of your work and the honing of your craft, two of the best climbing videos I've ever seen. Thank you.
Why TH-cam doesn't have something like a Superlike because this Video would have get mine! It's crazy when I think back to the funny and cool but technically really bad Daily Vlogs. You got a lot better Eric congrats for that. :D
This was a great video. The way you edited it, with the music, made me root for Emil. I laughed, I felt frustrated, and I felt defeated at the end. I squeezed my obliques as Emil was crossing over to the next hold, and I held my breath as he was reaching for the high crimp. This video felt like a core workout! Well done, and I hope to see more in the future! You definitely have a style that's different than the other outdoor climbing youtubers because there is character development in your videos, not just climbing.
Emil is next level. 99% of climbers wouldn't send a V14 in their lifetime, don't be disappointed! Then to campus a V11 for fun? Sick. Why not turn pro and do the Worlds? As for you Eric, a masterpiece of storytelling, cinematography and music. A massive congratulations!
Subbed not that long ago, but it's been a week of stunning vids, and I am not yet done with all of them. Watching at least a bunch of your vids a day, Eric. You are doing a tremendous amount of work, thank you for that content. This one, along with Linda's New Baseline, oh dude. No words, to be honest. Waiting for new ones like a child.
Been watching videos here for a while now, the production quality of this is leagues ahead of where you've started. You should seriously be proud man. Loved it.
Awesome! You can truly see all the effort you put into making this video. It makes Emil's journey inspiring to watch. I would love to see more like these and I hope Emil will send this boulder in the future.
Claire De Lune got me crying tears of frustration at the end. Inspirational video, it's always important to have these kinds of goals and keep us motivated. I hope you achieve your dream one day
This was such an emotional journey. Showing the projecting process really helps to grasp the difficulty of the climb, but also the mental fight one goes through. Thank you for putting arguably some of the best climbing videos out there! Makes me want to go train right now lol.
Dam Eric this videos have been next level, really amazing job on capturing the climbers emotions and great use of music to build suspense for the viewers
Absolutely love this video! One of your best to date. The emotions conveived through the use of slow motion, music and nightime climbing is very well done! Excellent!
No te preocupes emil, no es el grado ni la dificultad solo es un movimiento y eso es lo bonito de nuestro deporte a veces solo se trata un poco más de paciencia. La roca seguirá ahí y tu eres una maquina. Animo saludos desde México.
Honestly well done Eric on the filming and editing. You've come a long way and you'll have some big oppertunities in the future! Emil don't worry. Climbing is fun and difficult but there's always another day for a send since rocks don't move haha!
One of these days, a kid is gonna find this video and be so inspired to climb that it will consume their life. And they will end up pushing the limits of the sport even further then the current generation are doing. Your work is great anyway Eric, but this series featuring magic wood is truly exceptional. Also, I'm certain Emil will conquer 8b+ in the near future.
