It feels like "cut teenagers slack" being mentioned here in comments is more about middle schoolers being inexperienced or rude in a game as opposed to seniors stalking and threatening people in real life.
Oh my gosh my story was chosen!! I'm the OP of the second story. Just wanted to clear a couple things up real quick. Firstly, yes, the Tomb of Horrors game went really well. Kinda. It's the Tomb of Horrors, and it took an hour for the party to even make it out of the introductory hallway. But they said they had fun with the rest of the session!! And yes, the cleric's name really is Throw, as in "to throw away." Her player said it's because her parents threw her out as a child. :( also that Sephora skit was pretty accurate to how it felt being in that session lmao
Throw sounds amazing. Your campaign sounds awesome. I just started my first DnD campaign and the DM called it RP heavy so I'm hopeful. I hope you guys have an awesome time!
That naming convention was all it took for my first pathfinder group to adopt a little sentient construct. He thought he was called something like "Yugo Klin" because all his creator ever said to him was "you, go clean." The creator didn't even realize it was sentient because he only ever gave it the command it was made for. So the DM asks if we intend to return "Yugo" to the creator when we find them. Party says "HELL NO!" DM laughs and explains it's crazy because for as thorough as this module he's using is, it doesn't have anything for if the party decides to keep the construct. Only if they leave them here, destroy them, or take them back to the creator. And if you're hoping for a happy ending there... nope. The creator basically just goes "oh, that thing." Then tells it to clean somewhere again. He doesn't really react to the news that his construct is a living thing with thoughts and feelings now. It's wild how off-the-mark the writer(s) of that module were for this section of the book. The module in question is outlaws of alkenstar for the curious.
@@TheMightyBattleSquid "Hmm, should we write a possible happy ending for this charming NPC we've made in case the PCs want it? Naahhhh..." In all seriousness I already love Yugo so so much
I've always wanted to run Tomb of Horrors, myself. It's silly as hell. I used to own the "Return to the Tomb of Horrors" boxed set which had some pretty cool dungeons in it as well.
I mean.... 18 or 19 is still a kid. I dont' know the context yet (I'm still in the intro story) so maybe it matters that they'ree not _technically_ a minor, but uh. Yeah. Still a kid. EDIT: Yeah nevermind after hearng the story, I comletely agree with what I assume are your intentions in saying that. Becuse yeah, if you're over 18 and stalking a freshman, you might be a kid, but you're also legally an adult stalking minor. Also agree with Crispy - Justin is a kid and he still has to fce consequences for his actions so tht he's not taught it's okay for him to do this when he's an adultier adult.
@@keybladewizard49Nah, nope, no, N-O, STOP moving the dang goalposts! That contributes to so many youth issues in our society, not just young ADULTs living down to peoples' lack of expectations for them but also to other young adults and teens lashing out at the world for not taking them seriously and treating them like they're "just kids". Some of them will even seek to prove just how serious they should be taken with a weapon. Look, my family makes jokes about not being fully grown up until you're 32, but it's just that, *a joke* . The reality is that people at the age of 15 have lead armies and governed territories back when we didn't have the luxury of such long lifespans, at 18 *a person is an adult* . They can vote, live on their own, own a firearm, drink in a lot of countries, and go to war. At SIXTEEN you're allowed to operate a multi-thousand-pound vehicle that can go 100+ MPH unsupervised, at 16 you're not yet an adult but you're definitely not "just a kid" . This indefinite prolonging of childhood into the teens and even 20s is not healthy for anyone, not for young people or for society.
you calling fantasy name generator useless reminded me of the time i had a player say the site was useless... so he broke out Chat GPT and got a worse name.
i normally use magicbabynames!!! it allows you to put in one (or more) names and find similar sounding ones (and separates them into fem, masc, and unisex)
Ok seriously, THANK YOU for that end comment. As someone who went to high schools with very real problems with violence and SA, seeing people (mostly from the USA) write off teenagers as "just kids who aren't responsible" like they're the same as little children is HORRIFYING. No. These "kids" are capable of understanding the consequences of their actions, and they are also physically capable of real harm.
At the very least, he has a vested interest in the world not being destroyed by the Ancient Evil. Undead are only a renewable resource so long as the living are.
I'd love that as a setting. The villainous lich successfully conquered the world 10,000 years ago... And then had no idea what to do next. He'd never really thought about it beyond that he wanted to rule. He tried tyranny and exploitation for a while but... For what? So, then he dedicated himself to stewardship, becoming a wise ruler that uses his dark magical powers to maintain a system of benevolent totalitarianism where the people give him obeisance and he in turn takes care of them. He's still a dark tyrant, but on the whole, it's questionable whether or not he's good for the world. And then a new ancient evil rises, and the lich king remembers how awful he was in his youth and is like "Yeah, gotta shut that down."
@@discordlexia2429 While not to that scale this does sound a little like Lord Vetinari from Discworld. He keeps the city running and fixes things but without people being aware that something changed. A lot pf the people he makes "disappear" he finds ways of making them useful including convicted criminals.
Stalker Caught! And good riddance too! I sadly had to deal with a stalker situation with my old job this year, that started on the day after Valentine's Day. It continued on for 6 months, all because the new manager didn't do anything about it because she was worried about ruining her reputation by him complaining about being refused service at our cafe online. Only reason why anything was done about it is I finally went to the branch manager about it, and he informed her that she did have the ability to do something about it, but even then we had to give the guy a "warning" first, and if he then acted up again, we could kick him out. I was there to hear my manager give her his warning, but I wasn't there for when he was finally banned, and I'll never forget what the coworker said they heard the stalker say. The stalker literally said, "You can't do that to me! You need a restraining order!!!" Like, seriously, that was your first thought? Not that you made me, and several other girls so uncomfortable, that you are being asked to never return? Thankfully I don't work at that place anymore, and now have moved on to a much better workplace that's not toxic! I'm happy the school took what the poster said seriously and did something about it.
Yeah, I am normally very pacifistic and pro… the prison systems in Europe that have decent but basic living spaces and like actual therapy and “here’s some job skills that would give you financial security in a different town than the group that keeps getting sloshed and starting bar fights is in, only doing the first would be great” stuff. And still find “he didn’t return to that high school” *not* *far* *enough* (even if hopefully as the minimum before trial he was entirely online or whatever was available that ensured he wasn’t ever near a female classmate, *especially* one enough younger to have a power imbalance he could exploit. Or a younger student period given he exploited the writer to get to her…)
I remember a coworker I had who always questioned why I got so excited over things I liked. I brought up movies and he looked so confused and asked why I liked movies so much and how weird it is that I know so much about movies. I brought up reading and he said that’s weird you read so much don’t you do anything else? I brought up dnd and he said why do you play that stuff it’s so weird because you have to talk like you’re someone else it’s like you’re being a little kid. He always crapped on my hobbies or interests and I would end up feeling shitty later. So glad I left that workplace.
What a measly twerp! He needed to be laughed at and told, “No, it’s weird that *you* think it’s weird, and even weirder that you’re saying it out loud.”
STALKER CAUGHT!!! I’m glad you said something about the last story and how people would brush this sort of behavior aside as a “they’re just kids” situation. The guy was a senior, which meant he was 17-18. Legally speaking that’s leaning into adulthood. Even if that wasn’t the case and this was a story about 12 year olds, that sort of behavior shouldn’t be condoned or swept under the rug. Stalking is not something that should ever be taken lightly no matter who is involved. It’s a serious matter. Being a freshman, the op handled it pretty well (not perfectly by any means but still pretty well) understanding that the situation was not normal or okay and eventually telling an adult. I can understand the feeling of guilt in knowing that they could have taken action sooner, but in their case they were a frightened kid being manipulated by an upperclassman. I hope they can forgive themself as they’re not at fault and really did try their best to keep the girl in question away from the creep. Good on you op.
I don't recall anyone using the "they're just kids" excuse in regards to real life crimes here, just a response to Crispy notably being somewhat mocking regarding teenagers in tabletop horror stories.
Ppl who defend bad behavior with “they’re just kids”. Aren’t rlly making any good defensive points- like yeah, they’re kids, so why tf are they thinking and acting like that???!!! It’s not an excuse it just raises more worry
Yeah, “they’re just kids” is a circumstance in which you should give leniency in punishment/sentencing due to lack of experience, in favor of counseling/correction. It’s not a reason to allow a circumstance to continue or to ignore it. In fact, often the requirement for intervention is higher, because the victims lack the power to solve the situation themselves and the perpetrators NEED the correction so they have the chance to adjust their behavior before facing harsher consequences for more entrenched behaviors as an adult.
"Ahhh, they're just kids, let's worry about it in like 10 years. Oh, an adult is stalking and harassing you? Im sorrry there's nothing we can do, miss"
I just got a milkshake from Baskin Robins, and it made me think of a silly campaign where players go on a quest to find 31 flavors of icecream. And just as I get home, Crispy uploads a new episode. COINCIDENCE?! Maybe.
Ok screw that AI comment at 13:04 . Besides, it's not even true. Regardless of how high quality an AI image is, the output isn't going to really be your character, it's going to be a picture of a generic character that's the same broad archetype.
Also its not going to be as good qaulity. Artist draw with attent but AI just throws things on that might look alright at first glance but the more you look at it the more you are like "where is that belt going?" And "wait, that necklace doesnt make sense" ect. Every one about how bad AI is with hands too.
@dannyg.4421 agreed. They tend to look fine on a first glance but once you start actually observing it all the weirdness piles up. Plus it will inevitably always lack 1 thing even the worst human artist in the world has: Intent! Artists make art with intentionality, they make decisions based on what they think is best for the art0 An AI by its nature can't really make decisions, it can only attempt to recreate something that looks similar to something that already exists
In the first story, I think that the reason the lich let them go is that the lich was not the evil they unleashed, but just another evil being in the world who is also facing down the threat of annihilation from an even bigger evil (which the party released) which is actually kind of sick.
A Dhampir lycan bloodhunter? I have one of those! I was playing around with making the edgiest character i could, for funzies and realized he was basically Vincent Valentine from FFVII, so i decided to run with that vibe lmao
The second story really hit home, a good friend of mine bought me art of our characters sharing cake for my birthday one year and I shared it with a seperate group(me and two other people). First response to the picture was "birthdays put me in a bad mood"
In my opinion, i think we should stop the whole "oh but they're just a kid" argument. I mean sure, there's some instances where you can make that excuse, but I feel like that using that excuse to explain they're shitty behavior will just make them want to continue being shitty
My least favorite version is "ThEIr brAInS aReN'T dEvEloPeD!" And than some ever-increasing, arbitrary age at which humans magically become old enough to think. People forget that humans have lead entire nation-states in their teen years back when our lifespans were shorter, we're born with all the brain we'll ever have 99% of the changes in behavior as you get older just coming from learned experience.
sometimes when I really want to splurge about my world building, I'll make little supplements, primers, in-universe book excerpts, maps, or otherwise resources for the players to read or experience in their own time, completely optional, and never contains mandatory information to progress a story/plot point. this lets me get it out of my system while not me just boringly trying to recite it from memory in character, and plus every once and a while a player will actually read my fanfic lore and enjoy it, so that always feels good too
Story 1: I definitely feel like a skill DMs (and us geeks in general, let's be honest) need to cultivate is how to condense the tens, sometimes hundreds, of pages of lore and information into small soundbytes, no more than 3 sentences, that others can digest more easily, and look more into if they become interested enough. Story 2: Frick Darius. Just for that AI comment if nothing else (but absolutely for all the rest as well.) Story 3: So, for anyone who might be too young to remember, in the late 2000s, early 2010s, it was distressingly commonplace to use the word "rape" as a term for "soundly defeat." It absolutely wasn't okay to do so, always made me and many others VERY uncomfortable. The reactions to Justin using it here is a perfect example of just one reason why it THANKFULLY fell out of usage, replaced largely by the far superior "rekt." And yes, doesn't matter that they're teenagers; we need to take this kind of behavior seriously or they very much will NOT "grow out of it." You don't magically turn into a fully responsible adult with all the wisdom and behaviors that implies at midnight of your 18th birthday.
That bit with the lich-bullying just reminds me of that Hellsing Ultimate vs Supernatural skit: "I'm being polite...I'm being very polite by allowing this conversation to continue..." Also happy new year Crispy! May we see more fun stories and solve further RPG tragedies...better hope those clones feel no pain eh?
19:45 - I'm really glad that story had somewhat of a happy ending - Throw sounds like a much better character and the player sounds a lot better, too. Love the idea that the Chaotic Evil character is a mistress of disinformation rather than a murderhobo.
I'm sorry, but I have to use headphones lol, imagine my family's surprise when they hear "A picture of her in the girls bathroom" And then "911 you know what to do" And then "FBI Noises"
After reading the intro story all I could think of was this somewhat recent funny story. After a horror story I'll likely have to submit later, our DM invited some new players in attempt to reboot the campaign. This is how druid joined us. The first scene of the campaign was a massive party being attended by people of many different kingdoms. Our other PCs introduce themselves normally but due to mic problems druid was the last to introduce themselves. When they're back in the discord call our other tiefling walks up to them and starts trying to speak to them to help introduce them to the story. He basically introduces himself as "oh i'm a tiefling druid with the outlander background" Assuming he's just a new player we try to ask a few follow up questions in-character like: "what kingdom are you from" "How did you get invited to the party? Etc. The player responds by immediately dropping from the voice chat, deleting every post they've made on the server, making another post declaring they're not good at RPing, then leaving the server entirely. So in our minds the tiefling walked up to a guy, only for them to suddenly be erased from existence
27 seconds ago, never have I ever been so early to a video of someone I am subscribed to. I enjoy your videos since I stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago and have binged many videos.
The Justin story reminds me of my own stalker during highschool. It was never that bad, but apparently he was doing it to a few girls and got expelled as a result. To this day I'm really cautious about letting guys know I like roleplaying and anime, the thing that got him interested in me. It gives them the idea that I'll be their gamer girlfriend, which I'll be dead before I date a men, let alone the type of creepy guy this attracts. I've already had three former male friends turn out to be this kind of creep.
23:56 this bit got TWO laughing fits out of me! One for the funny lighthearted music as the police are violently messing up the stalker dude, and then a second for the very based commentary afterword!
The last one, The moment they saw the pictures then the comment after about her sister it was immediate report to the teacher, principal, councilor or police. Thats mandated reporter level stuff.
9:53 is that how you interpreted that? I was of the mind the player was trying to get what he wanted in-game by threatening the dm at work. The DM ends up quitting in retaliation because "you don't put as much passion into work as you do dnd" is bullshit. Of course you put more effort into passion projects in your free time with friends than your miserable 9-5 you work to make ends meet. This was further reinforced with the player suing for misrepresentation of their work.
Hi Crispy!! Obviously you don't know me but I just wanted to say your videos have been a major source of inspiration for me and the reason that I started playing ttrpgs!! I've had a blast with my friends and I still really love watching your vids all the time. So thanks, lol 💞
hey crispy, i just wanted to say that you're doing a really good job, your videos are always entertaining, and on my top1 priority list when i'm drawing something!
Yeah Justin is just a child but so is his victim!!! Justin was a senior which means he was close to 18 if not 18 and Vanessa was a freshman so 14-15!!! I feel like if we're advocating to protect children we should protect the child victim first.
As someone that writes a lot of lore for their settings, I think it's a better idea to just make a wiki. Bring up things when they are relevant, and keep your expanded lore somewhere that you can refer people to when needed.
I'm guessing that once the cops were through with him, he probably wishes he was dead. Or maybe not; that kind of creep never feels like it's their fault they got in trouble.
I THINK I'M THE "ANNA" FROM THE LAST STORY! Either that or there were 2 freshman girls in 2010 that went through the same exact thing and the OP just happened to pick the actual name of another girl that this actually happened to.
First story reminds me of my own group. 2nd campain - we start with d&d and I warn them all: "Guys - if you plan on pulling stupid moves, that can kill you - I won't stop you anymore. But you will have to face the consequences. If your character dies. It dies. Best prepare a second character in advance, so you can switch if it happens." ... they all knew me well enough after our first campain in which some of them where absolut newbees and I "protected" them a few times, that I will use their stupid ideas against them. And they love it XD
@CrispysTavern What is your preferred style of fake names used in these horror stories? Single letter abbreviations, simple standins(Jack & Jill & The Like), references to preexisting characters, "Rogue's Player" etc?
I was in a campaign for like 3 sessions before I bowed out after the DM knocked my character unconscious and only let me try to wake up once within a two and a half hour long combat that I paid $14 to be in. I'm still in their Discord and one of the players posted some ugly ass AI images of his character and when someone questioned why they would use AI instead of commissioning an actual artist, the DM butted in and said "I don't like that you're wording your comment in a way to suggest you're morally superior for not liking AI. It's fine for that player to use for his character." So I definitely dodged a bullet on that one.
6:03 It is for this exact reason that if I’m not sure, I will say upfront, “For my notes, could you please confirm the spelling?” Obviously, in this game that would be a common occurrence but it’s usually what I do.
the last story reminds me of a player I had the misfortune of gaming with, he Loved talking SA and it made me super uncomfortable. I finally cornered him and asked him to stop bringing it up. And he told me he brought it up to make it less of a taboo subject...Yeah, this a-hole thought he was doing the world a favor and helping survivors out and not just using this as an excuse to joke about SA. Needless to say: I am not a friend of this douche.
That's... Not how that works, yeah it could make the subject less taboo but not in a way that would help survivors. It's literally normalizing the topic of SA as something to joke about and laugh at. Not empowering victims to speak out but silencing them more and retraumatizing them by making them a laughing stalk. On incel forums they actively try to gas each other up to go do it.
@@RiveroftheWither Exactly, it's hard enough to come forward as a survivor of SA but when the people around you are laughing and being hurtful on the subject it just makes it all the worse. It makes me sick they have entire forums for this kind of messed up behavior.
... i kinda love that much intricate lore. Tho, maybe don't infodump in one go. Put it in a Google document and have it as an important link in the dnd chat discord server for people to read at their leisure
Speaking as an artist, absolutely! Honestly though, especially with his later comment that he wouldn't spend more than a dollar on a dice set cause dice rollers are free. He is definitely an obnoxious tech bro who doesn't get why people use "outdated" products. DND players are attached to their PCs and having art made of them, is special for that reason And people like having physical dice not just cause they're pretty math rocks, but you also can't replace the feel of rolling real dice on an actual table
TTRPG dirt sheets are crazy. Won't lie it's entertaining in a rather disturbing way and hope all the creepers get rooted out more quickly. I miss when the game was just a simple creative hobby, not a competition for e-popularity. Hearing someone referring to themselves as a "professional DM" is odd to say the least, but understand due to things being monetized on the internet nowadays. Be safe, watch for personality red flags (gods there are so many now) and enjoy the game with genuine people you can trust. Which sounds crazy difficult these days.
I swear my brain is broken. No matter how many times I hear "this is a story" outside of that context, my brain always goes to and gets stuck in the theme from fresh prince of bel air. As for the lich letting them go, I think what the OP was going for was "oh, you're the chosen ones. I haven't completely prepared for what to do if that old myth was real. Let's call it a truce for today so both of us get to walk away." Then problem player obviously ruins that by thinking "I don't think it's wise for me to fight you yet if i have the choice" meant he could walk all over them. 😅 5:04 Amen to that. I remember one player said they were going take over the DM spot after our other game together had just wrapped up. What happened instead was her uploading pages and pages per day of shit that had no bearing on the initial adventure or even the stuff that happened when we started heading to one of the surrounding countries. We already made our characters based on the first day's uploads but she just kept going and going insisting we needed every scrap of extra lore for HER version of all the racial options, every country, every industry, every blah blah blah. She wasn't even stopping to add punctuation or spellcheck so it was just tons of mispelled run-on sentences. Needless to say, the game died because she burned herself out before the game got to session 1. I think Dreon Vasih sounds good as a full name. Maybe it was meant to be spaced out but a typo happened somewhere along the way?
I remember using the fantasy name generator, haha. The names suck, might be able to find one or two good ones. I tend to mash parts of multiple names together to fit my stories and charcters.
HEY..... I cant be trusted for reasons OTHER than my name >:C Mostly Schadenfreude. I mean how am I not supposed to feel giddy when taking a sprout through the Vault for the first time. Especially when its my girlfriend fawning over Mr Perfect over here ! Humph!
As horrible as Darius is, i think calling No Alignment a red flag is exaggerating. I personally dont like alignments cause i feel they dont allow for flexibility as a character. But also i can understand why newer players and DM require them for their characters
@@fingergunbari8851 OP here!! It wasn't that he didn't have an alignment, it's more that he refused to say what his alignment was. Hence "no specified alignment." I understand the argument against the alignment system in saying that specifying an alignment is limiting for a character's development, but I point to this experience of mine as to why I think they have merit. Not as a hard and fast rule to always abide by, but as a snapshot by which one's character can be judged at any given moment. Alignments should, however, be allowed to shift and change as the character grows, I think.
Ok ill admit i am that player that asks way too much about the world so ill admit to my greatest sin, i am the player who prompts dms to lore dump just so i can take notes and weave a more elaborate backstory
Hey there I have a question for either the comment section or crispy if I get to be so lucky. Im currently playing an inventor in pf2e's outlaws of alkenstar. There are a lot of things in the story that seem to be directly relevant to my character and Im having a lot of fun and I get very excited during game play. But often time there is so much interaction on my part I worry about coming across as the main character. in our last session I feel like I did most of the talking and role playing, and I can't tell if I was hogging the spot light or if other players were just not participating. I don't want to be the main character and Im pretty self conscious of this when I feel like Im running away with the dialogue, I would love it if the other player engaged as much, I even try to encourage it asking players details about cool stuff there doing or even straight out saying stuff like "If X happens I gotta know how this plays out". am I over thinking this if not how do I keep from being "that guy" at the table?
No back story a red flag really, its fine for the most interesting things to happen to your character to be the adventure. But you should probably at minimum know what from your characters past makes them who they are even if its just. He ran away to join the circus when he was 16 to escape his mundane life.
@@Alliethewitch OP here!! And while I don't 100% agree (you might have a build in mind, but don't want to come up with the backstory until you understand the setting a little better), I see your point. My character Gianno started as the son of the murdered owner of a speakeasy in town. I had a concept in mind for my character, and the rest naturally built around that.
13:03 I mean I’m not as vehemently opposed to AI as most people seem to be….. it can be fun to mess around with it for personal use….. but it is inferior to actual drawings by actual people on basically every metric, and it is disingenuous to claim it’s better, not to mention rude when you are speaking to the actual artist or someone they know.
Past story "They are kids being kids." Yeah, not for this one. I could say that about making extra edgy characters or maybe some one being a little shit but not stalking and taking photos of people in the restroom. Also the comments is way too out of pocket.
imagine if u as a dm makes a campaign, but everyone is illiterate. so u purposely misspell anything as horrible as you can, and then the characters have to find ways to like.. code out simple text lol

also that Sephora skit was pretty accurate to how it felt being in that session lmao
Naahhhh..."
In all seriousness I already love Yugo so so much
I've always wanted to run Tomb of Horrors, myself. It's silly as hell. I used to own the "Return to the Tomb of Horrors" boxed set which had some pretty cool dungeons in it as well.
@@VanillaBean2023 Throw IS amazing!! And thank you for the kind words! I hope your campaign goes well too!
I'm glad Stalker was caught and arrested. I honestly believe he had every intent to harm that girl, and OP saved her from additional trauma.
“Justin’s a Kid”
If he is a senior, he actually might not be. Some seniors turn 18 or 19 in their senior years so…
Sounded like Crispy equating comments thinking he's harsh on teenagers being rude in games to potentially being lenient on young real life criminals.
He's also stalking a freshman, who is 3 to 4 years younger than him.
Personally I use "Behind The Name", it has loads of names, their etymologies, languages of origin, pronunciation, regional/cultural variants etc.
@@kamikage9420 same, there's also a lot of esoteric sites with more names as well.
@@TuberoseKisser Oh? I'd love to know more.
Sometimes I use the name generator as inspiration and come up with a name just as goofy because, dangit, I actually love those whack names
i normally use magicbabynames!!! it allows you to put in one (or more) names and find similar sounding ones (and separates them into fem, masc, and unisex)
First Story: I think the Lich King and the Ancient Evil are two different villains. The Lich King let the party go to eliminate the competition.
I thought that too.
You need a restraining order!!!"
Like, seriously, that was your first thought?
What a weird way to try and dunk on someone. How hollow must their life have been if they had nothing to truly get enthusiastic about like that
that person sounds boring and shitty
What a measly twerp! He needed to be laughed at and told, “No, it’s weird that *you* think it’s weird, and even weirder that you’re saying it out loud.”
My usual response for someone calling me weird:
“What’s weird is *you* thinking that’s weird. What’s even weirder is you saying it out loud.”
I'm gay, but no one will ever know because of all the comments.

Maybe.
Man i did not except to get so heated at the fantasy name generator slander
I actually like the name generator ngl 😭
Plus it will inevitably always lack 1 thing even the worst human artist in the world has:
Intent!
Artists make art with intentionality, they make decisions based on what they think is best for the art0
An AI by its nature can't really make decisions, it can only attempt to recreate something that looks similar to something that already exists
In the first story, I think that the reason the lich let them go is that the lich was not the evil they unleashed, but just another evil being in the world who is also facing down the threat of annihilation from an even bigger evil (which the party released) which is actually kind of sick.
"an ai would have done better" yeah because I love my characters looking plastic and having fingers.
People forget that humans have lead entire nation-states in their teen years back when our lifespans were shorter, we're born with all the brain we'll ever have 99% of the changes in behavior as you get older just coming from learned experience.
sometimes when I really want to splurge about my world building, I'll make little supplements, primers, in-universe book excerpts, maps, or otherwise resources for the players to read or experience in their own time, completely optional, and never contains mandatory information to progress a story/plot point. this lets me get it out of my system while not me just boringly trying to recite it from memory in character, and plus every once and a while a player will actually read my fanfic lore and enjoy it, so that always feels good too
Nice! 😊
Just for that AI comment if nothing else (but absolutely for all the rest as well.)
Story 3: So, for anyone who might be too young to remember, in the late 2000s, early 2010s, it was distressingly commonplace to use the word "rape" as a term for "soundly defeat." It absolutely wasn't okay to do so, always made me and many others VERY uncomfortable.
That bit with the lich-bullying just reminds me of that Hellsing Ultimate vs Supernatural skit: "I'm being polite...I'm being very polite by allowing this conversation to continue..."
Also happy new year Crispy! May we see more fun stories and solve further RPG tragedies...better hope those clones feel no pain eh?
I admit the bit where even the evil player was mad at the murder hobo was hilarious XD
Because being Chaotic Evil is fine, being Stupid Evil is not
@@LordSvzklxOP here!! And hear hear!! Normalize Evil characters that aren't necessarily murderhobos!!
19:45 - I'm really glad that story had somewhat of a happy ending - Throw sounds like a much better character and the player sounds a lot better, too. Love the idea that the Chaotic Evil character is a mistress of disinformation rather than a murderhobo.
I'm sorry, but I have to use headphones lol, imagine my family's surprise when they hear
"A picture of her in the girls bathroom"

"911 you know what to do"

Yeah that last story I agree with Crispy at the end, that kind of behavior needs shut down quick and taught that it's not ok.
I unfortunately knew a kid named Justin in highschool who I swear I could see behaving exactly like the Justin in that story
He basically introduces himself as "oh i'm a tiefling druid with the outlander background"
Assuming he's just a new player we try to ask a few follow up questions in-character like:
"what kingdom are you from"
"How did you get invited to the party?
Etc.
The player responds by immediately dropping from the voice chat, deleting every post they've made on the server, making another post declaring they're not good at RPing, then leaving the server entirely.
So in our minds the tiefling walked up to a guy, only for them to suddenly be erased from existence
@@TheScarletMenagerie poor guy got overwhelmed, it seems
@@joshmurphy6609 probably, but the DM advertised it as a high RP game.
They were in the voice call for less than 30 seconds before vanishing.
Darius sounds like such a parasite. 😵
Also, have Shadar-Kai become popular? I remember first encountering them in 4e! 💜
27 seconds ago, never have I ever been so early to a video of someone I am subscribed to. I enjoy your videos since I stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago and have binged many videos.
DON'T TRUSTIN THE JUSTIN! EDIT: I'm Canadian, which makes Sir Crispin S. Tavern's mistrust of Justins all the funnier.
Choose the bear every time. The boys are not okay.
I’m not gonna lie, I personally love the fantasy names with extra vowels and weird spellings. I have an OC named Uulrin and I love her to pieces.
Seriously, Crispy dropped the ball here. My job is a necessary evil and is nowhere as important to me as my private life 😮💨
Unfortunately, we will never know the truth of the DM being a victim or a bad worker.
Yes!
As someone that writes a lot of lore for their settings, I think it's a better idea to just make a wiki. Bring up things when they are relevant, and keep your expanded lore somewhere that you can refer people to when needed.
Happy to be here Crispy!! Have a wonderful New Year!
Had to stop around 24 minutes in.
Justin has chosen death.
Normally I am the forgiving type. But that crosses the line. You never threaten family.
I'm guessing that once the cops were through with him, he probably wishes he was dead. Or maybe not; that kind of creep never feels like it's their fault they got in trouble.
I really enjoy listening to your videos. Your voice is so soothing and the stories are entertaining. Happy New Year!
"STALKER CAUGHT."
Yikes.
Thanks for the stories, Crispy! Happy New Year!
Thank you Crispy! Happy new year!
Happy new year Crispy!

Stalker, caught
Have a good night. Always happen to listen to your story telling. That last one was super messed up.
Stalker Caught: Great show as always.
@CrispysTavern
What is your preferred style of fake names used in these horror stories? Single letter abbreviations, simple standins(Jack & Jill & The Like), references to preexisting characters, "Rogue's Player" etc?
Good question. Either Crispy or another narrator has stated they dislike the single letter names.
The last one is just ugh. It's disgusting when it gets to this point.
Stalker caught. Wow some people be crazy!!!
Thanks for the video.
@@RiveroftheWitherExcellent observation. Bravo.
13:00 This man has made himself an enemy of all artists and art enjoyers in a single statement.
Speaking as an artist, absolutely!
Honestly though, especially with his later comment that he wouldn't spend more than a dollar on a dice set cause dice rollers are free. He is definitely an obnoxious tech bro who doesn't get why people use "outdated" products.
DND players are attached to their PCs and having art made of them, is special for that reason
And people like having physical dice not just cause they're pretty math rocks, but you also can't replace the feel of rolling real dice on an actual table
Krispy? Allow me to present you to my friend Case, Justin Case!
jesus that title alone has my interest
TTRPG dirt sheets are crazy. Won't lie it's entertaining in a rather disturbing way and hope all the creepers get rooted out more quickly.
I miss when the game was just a simple creative hobby, not a competition for e-popularity. Hearing someone referring to themselves as a "professional DM" is odd to say the least, but understand due to things being monetized on the internet nowadays.
Be safe, watch for personality red flags (gods there are so many now) and enjoy the game with genuine people you can trust. Which sounds crazy difficult these days.
I totally get the desire to share every detail of a world/setting you've created, but I also dislike having an info-dump thrown at me during gameplay.
My x was named Justin. And you are right. Never trust a Justin 😂😅
5:04 Amen to that.
I thought the lich was a seperate being from the ancient evil and wanted the heroes to stop it from destroying him too
How dare you call Fantasynamegenerator a useless website >:(

As horrible as Darius is, i think calling No Alignment a red flag is exaggerating. I personally dont like alignments cause i feel they dont allow for flexibility as a character. But also i can understand why newer players and DM require them for their characters
@@fingergunbari8851 OP here!! It wasn't that he didn't have an alignment, it's more that he refused to say what his alignment was. Hence "no specified alignment."
I understand the argument against the alignment system in saying that specifying an alignment is limiting for a character's development, but I point to this experience of mine as to why I think they have merit. Not as a hard and fast rule to always abide by, but as a snapshot by which one's character can be judged at any given moment. Alignments should, however, be allowed to shift and change as the character grows, I think.
Intro story: Agreed, Crispy.
The anime edgelord's character was not long for that game.

I now regret that I have used that name generator for a few characters of mine. lol
It's fine. There's a lot of silly names but they have some decent ones if you reroll a few times. It's really pretty useful in a pinch
Damn bro 😭 not Justin hate 😂
