The video of Bobby Shmurda standing on the table and rapping is like a scene from Atlanta 😭
almost like that scene---and the show in general---represents afro surrealism and what its like to be a black person in Amerikkka. before anyone disagrees with me just do a bit of research first, ty.

There's something mildly disturbing about that. Idk what it is but I just don't sit right 😅

Don’t just skip through just because of the chat’s opinion. If anything this is good for them because these kind of podcasts educate the younger people of what to look out for

2024 is the perfect exposure year. Hollyweird is CRUMBLING and I’m here to witness every minute. Thank you for this content Dontai!
Like they been weird. Even with the Nickelodeon stuff he reacted to. They’re supposed to be a documentary about that in march.
Crumbling is a stretch the trickery behind the scenes been here long before us and will be here long after we’re gone. I’m with the exposure tho fs
PLEASE MORE UPLOADS LIKE THIS DONTAI. I ALWAYS MISS THE STREAMS SO CUTTING THEM LONG FORM LIKE THIS IS GREAT!
the entertainment industry in general, across the globe, is riddled with nepotism, pay to win, and sexual misconduct of many kinds, its a scary world out there
Not everything
diddy
Nepotism and pay to play is just SOCIETY. If you had a job at wendys and theyre looking for new employees arent you gonna try get your homie hired and lie for him to get the job (tell them hes always on time even if he never will be)
If youre selling your car and someone offers you 500 more than everyone else the person paying more will win the car. Thats your property and your choice to sell it how you want
Same way if you own a radio station and you have an extra slot for a song are you gonna give it to the guy who took you out to dinner and played you his album before it came out and gave you merch (which is how you generally should network in the industry)
OR OR OR will you give it to the guy who played you his album early AND slide you $5000 under the table
The answer is obvious
A guy in chat said that “not everyone needs a podcast.” I think not everyone needs to talk in chat based off of what I see, but that’s life, you’re gonna hear and see stuff that sometimes you don’t want to see or hear
There’s a difference between commenting in a twitch chat and making a podcast where a lot of your takes make no sense🤣
@@EatDatBitchAwpeither way one could make the case neither sides opinions or commentary are necessary, at least the podcast dudes get paid and exposure for what they do. Comment section mfs generally just be miserable and broke taking it out in the comments lol
Never listened to Russ, I do know of him but i respect him for how articulate he is. We need more artists like him.
Peep “chomp” 1 and 2, dude can rap fr 🔥🔥
Russ always been speaking like this and I love him for it bc he's so authentic
Dontai reacting to flagrant wasn't something on my list
Let me guess you defended smoke purp when he supported drugs when you were 17 okay bro all good as long as u feel like u a part of something
I jus dropped the aoty‼️🔥🔥🔥
@@TheCoonAwaitsdude what are you talking about,
thank you for giving me the option to read this comment before watching the video, not watching anything with Andrew Schulz in it
@@Donue how are you here if you don’t know Russ history beef this channel ain’t for you
I swear the black dude in the beanie is playing devil's advocate. He has to sound dumb because he is portraying the other side of the argument also it drags the podcast out more
Coping, he's an actual idiot😂
Ong bro he had to be paid to act like this or something there's no way he's that dense
yeah he keeps arguing about something so simple to think about... he's trying so hard to put out his opinion that he doesn't think first....
brother that's the point of the podcast.. Andrew and Akash being loud and obnoxious men-children while long hair guy usually sits quite with his laptop and black beanie dude barely talks but when he does he's the only one making sense and not riding dick
That’s what I thought he was doing cause he kept agreeing
Ngl Dontai I had the same exact Weed story
I no longer smoke but Mac & Devin go to High School is literally what made me smoke 😂😂😂
Russ has been hated on just for breathing its crazy
yeah that shit corny. i don’t think he’s the best artist in the slightest but i think niggas was hating before
listening
all the realists do
No, Russ was hated on for being a little bitch. I’m not hating on him here specifically, I may not like him or his music but if what he’s saying is true then what he’s saying is true plain and simple. But saying he was hated on in the past for no reason is just incorrect, he proved to the world he was a little bitch and that’s why people started hating on him.
Hes ass
No he’s hated because this is pulling a *Miley Cyrus* ; he’s benefiting off the genre he’s exposing. In my case specifically he knows these things yet acts the way he acts, THATS not okay! *Kendrick* hits harder after listening to *Russ* because nigga be HUMBLE! Yes you get a cake for being real but either be grateful or eat it don’t sit here saying you DESERVE ice cream too
The answer to the "music influencing people" thing is way more nuanced.
As someone who hasn't been influenced by the rap or songs I listen to, and understand it as just a way that artists express themselves and not necessarily a life I should live because I am whole separate person who makes my own decisions, and has been raised with a decent education... I understand the guy in the beanie's point.
Even as a child, I was taught not to do drugs or drink. I saw many people doing it and dying from it, and was educated on the harm it does, and never was swayed. Because why would you risk your life and health? For what? To seem cool? That's dumb.
I am 17, and I still dont do any of those things. It's not impossible. It's truely up to the consumers to make the decision for themselves if they want to give into peer pressure, propaganda, or groupthink.
So, to people who are rapping about their real experiences-- no matter how violent-- should be able to, because they can't control what child or teen MIGHT hear their words and MIGHT do. Art and rap starts loosing its purpose that way, because you're not making it for your self expression or storytelling anymore.
Rap was derived from africans telling their past stories of lives and villages over drum beats and through spoken word. That's it.
However, when those words do cause harm-- because not everyone has the mental maturity, strength, or education to resist-- it is important to acknowledge it and either advertise for people not do what you do (ex: ratings/warnings) or not create the type of music at all, though that will remove a lot freedom from the artist.
Remember, there are already parental guidance sticker/labels... They're not there for fun.
Overall, artist should be able to make what they want, but they cannot escape ridicule nor not take accountability for the fatal or psychological harm they have directly caused.
Russ and beanie guy aren't completely right or wrong.
SIDE NOTE:
Being an adolescent and being tempted to curse or have sexual desire and partially or secretly acting on it, is not equatable to wanting to try fatal/addictive drugs simply because it's surrounding you.
Hormones and puberty are a thing, and "cursing" is only looked down upon in formal, religious, and respectful settings. They don't fatality harm anyone or yourself like drugs and guns do...
Cool essay, you are 17. Womp womp
I agree I’m 21 I’ve never done drugs I rarely ever drink and I don’t curse and I listen to hardcore drill rap not to mention my family has been playing rap music around me since I was born. i feel like is deflection from the parents non ability to parent so they want social media apps and music to do it for them obviously you can’t shield your child away forever but at the same time its your responsibility as a parent to instill unshakable values and morals into your kid if your kid wants to do hard drugs because a rapper says they do it, it’s a deeper issue because clearly that is your child’s hero.
Why are you writing an essay, Your 17, this ain't English class.😂😂
A whole essay bruh
I think this makes a lot of sense art is art, the mere acknowledgement of what art is means it can be a reflection of anything and the internalization of art shouldn't be the responsibility of the artist unless they are actively lying and saying that it's real and has happened.
35:59 Dontai, you gotta realize there’s always gonna be people that act like that. Just ignore them and let them hate on it. Don’t let them get to your head and just continue watching the video
To be fair, we been knew the music industry was sick, pretty much Hollywood lite. Also Andrew is a w still.
But people still happily support it 😐
@wYoungman1 People supported Hitler happily. Doesn't mean he was a good guy.
The industry controls everything you ever see and watch and listen to, what you emulate and talk about
Its crazy how people never realize it till these artists or people who speak up are gone
@@LUCAS420BLZ they still gon be here after they speak the truth

This was a fire vid and discussion
Good length too, had to grab a snack lol
Please do this more often you’re takes and insight on stuff like this and others really are a positive influence

I really sat down with Dontai and watched this and it was damn interesting

This exposing era we in is crazy first kat with Hollywood now russ with the music industry the world we knew is gone..😬
we been knew
Love your videos dontai
Lil Tecca went on genius and openly talked about how he was capping in his songs, but nobody is gonna stop listening to him because of that, because the music still sounds good. Every rapper you like and listen to probably had had a lyric in their song about shooting and killing people that wasn’t true and you listened and liked it anyway. There is appeal in it being true but at the end of the day in 2024 nobody really listens to music thinking “damn he probably really did that” it’s just about how the music sounds, everything doesn’t have to be real.
The longer videos are fire
okay but im here for this long form of content, keeps me entertained at my job
i was working 3rd shift too this is so relatable
you lucky, i cant use my phone while im working.
also shouts to iamdontai for reacting to this, alot o these big streams want to stay away from these topics because they are scared of backlash or dont want to be caught up in heated topics. but truly this is what alot of us wanna see, the truth and people having opinions on the truth
I love conversations like this
Dontai needa go on this podcast
"You needa get like me, you needa get high like this" is a prime recent example of this
Bobby performing in that office reminded me of Lenarr’s “I gotta take a doo doo” 😩
“This guy hasn’t said one word but his eyes are saying a million” 😭😭😭😭☠️☠️
Dontai never fails to make us happy keep up the grind and everyone stay safe i love yall ❤
The irony of me seeing Trippy Redd as an opener for J. Cole in Wisconsin and dude was doing actual crowd work for engagement during his set. Wasn’t looking for him whatsoever, so it was a nice surprise lol. I doubt he ever did that again tho lol
It’s crazy to think abt how deep simple entertainment can get like we just supposed to have fun and it gets so deep and merky
Dontai bro I’ve been watching you for sooo many years since I was in 7th grade so 10 fucking years. Bro it shows like crazy that you were raised by a strong black woman and you and your wife are gonna be outstanding strong black parents. Which is what we need in the community. It starts with the family unit. ✊🏿
Damn you uploaded this shit quick asl
Crazy
Omg... I just had a crazy thought. They are literally holding parents accountable SOLELY ON THE "PARENTAL ADVISORY" sticker on albums. BRUH!!! There's always a work around.
My theory as to why there was no pushback to any of this, is because the music industry was created by a group of people who all had the same fucked up intentions in mind.
57:30 bro im literally p-ing my pants rn🤣🤣🤣
I never in a million years would think I would relive my past MeatSpin trauma on a Dontai vid

@MusicMilesYT Holy shit I just listened to it and this shit is hot garbage but I can't stop listening to it

Rappers are actors. It’s all entertainment. Dontai on stream is different than dontai off stream
I jus dropped the aoty‼️🔥🔥🔥
You don't know Dontai off stream to tell us that
@@Jiggy_RSAhe himself has said it before
not all rappers are actors
well no shit dawg, i talk to each of my friends differently 😭😭 it's not just stuff like that everyone does it in some way
RIAA determined that 1000 streams = 1 Sale. RIAA are the ppl that certify sales and give out plaqs.
Which is stupid because it'd take years to listen to listen to a song a 1000 times
Russ is the most real artist, he did it all on his own and is extremely intelligent too
This is why I have even more respect for the Kanye's, the Eminem's, etc that really had to make it organically with units. It makes that recent Sunflower record even more impressive. Post is not a joke 2 times diamond is insane. But like Russ said even though the songs are big they can still boost it. Makes me wonder do people like Post Malone and Travis Scott still boost streams even though they don't really need it?
Man Eminem in his prime was a horrible example for society.. one of the main reasons he was disliked/loved was for inspiring a ton of chaos.. I do like his message about doing things back..
@deadstars000 Yeah but a lot of his fan just saw it as an escape, the songs (or at least most of the SSLP) was so removed from reality that I don't see how he could've been seen as a bad influence, and the contreversy and him reacting to it in the perfect way made him even bigger. But at the same time I am speaking from a whole different time I listened to the MMLP for the first time all the way through in 2021 and was more of a fan of his most recent stuff at the time. So I could see why people would be mad an artist like Em, the first that rapped crazy shit like that, is being put on the forefront therefore promoting the idea that degeneracy sells. And when we look at our world now, maybe they weren't totally wrong.
@@deadstars000bad take
Bro they were faking sales before Eminem and Kanye this ain’t nothing new. Like they both had legit fanbases but everyone’s numbers are inflated once you’re on a major.

I've always thought Drake fakes his stream numbers, and I'm slowly believing I'm right
Theres an art to faking everything. Have to do it in a way where no one knows. Drake still packs out concerts world wide so his stresms look legit coz millions people are still ccoming to see him every year

The whole wrestling thing is wild bc they talk abt their storylines all the time there’s literally movies nd shows showing the behind the scenes of it

this is so crazy cause a girl i was talking to told me to listen to russ and that hes underrated when i clicked on his page i noticed how low the streams were so i clicked off i guess streams are more pleasant to the eye
Its not about being pleasant to the eye. Its some people just wanna feel like they are apart of something and dont wanna be a odd one out. Insecurity is human nature
What J. Goat say? "HOW MANY FAKING THEY STREAMSS, GETTING THEY PLAYS FROM MACHINES!!!"
Maybe I didn't know the definition of influence when I was a child. The first time I heard rap( lil wayne) I'm front new orleans and I knew that shit was fake meanwhile I watched kids get influence by wave after wave and I'm there like. Tf. Be yourself
