I was able to go to previous trials and I was also able to volunteer as a lifeguard at the last trials. I had bought an all-session pass the last trials and those were only around 330$ these prices are ridiculous compared to last time
I attended the US swim trials for the 1968 Mexico Olympics in Long Beach, CA. My memory is not that great, but I think a one day ticket for the finals ran about $4 to $8 and these were fairly good seats. I realize that inflation plays big into the picture, but these current prices are way out of line, even with inflation. I guess they will ask for what the market will bear.
I think it also had to do with the growth of the popularity of the sport, the cost of the venue, and the realization that no matter how they make it they will sell
I can't remember exactly but I think the 2020 ISL Championships in Las Vegas (had to go, we live here) set us back like $1500+ for 4 of us, and that was for a single 3-hour event. We wouldn't have done it if we had to pay for travel, hotel, meals, etc.
That’s the toughest part about hosting a national event like this in our sport. NFL tickets prices come with an expectation of attendance from a localized fan base which drastically reduced costs for fans. Not the case for trials and doubles the price for most people that would like to try to attend.
@@Sockwell Thank you for the videos, sir. You have a talent for this YouTubing/commentary. I think the ISL messed up big time having home meets/duel meets. Without regular home pools/home meets, how can a team build a steady and reliable fan base? Anyway, sending you fast vibes in your training from Indiana.
Jesus, I knew it was expensive but didn't know it was that much. My friend had extra ticket so I got in free. Would not have paid more than $100 if I had to
You said everything my guy. Eventually if swimming becomes mainstream, OLY trials prices at these insane numbers are justifiable. Buuuuut. We are just not there yet. Thats not how you grow a sport. The focus should be to fill the stands as much as possible, and im afraid that might not happen with these insane prices. When you want to grow your lemonade stand, you make prices super low so that everyone buys a lemonade. After they try your lemonade, and like it (because you put on an awesome show and had amazing races, uhhh I mean, lemons), thats when you increase prices in order to make more money. Gotta have the loyal costumer first.
Insanity. By comparison, the 2004 OT I can't remember what paid, but I think my seat for the finals one day was around $20-$30? I'm guessing, but whatever it was, the price was a no brainer. I even remember wandering around the stands, it was a totally relaxed venue.
If I had the funds, I would pay what they put out for those pool side seats, because at the end of the day the experience is all that matters for me, whether or not im up in the rafters or the lower level.
I think the issue here is the length of the meet as well, hotels are going to be in the $200+ range per day which will add up if you try to maximize your tickets...going to cost realistically $2800 minimum to attend the event if you're not local (for one person) Flight - $400 Hotel - $200 x 9 = $1800 Tickets - $650 ---------------------- $2,850
@@Sockwell eventually they will have packs that go for half of the week, which from what I know a lot of people will target. They’re half the price, which I think people might look towards
😂😂😂🙏 bruh Phelps himself gotta be next to me with 2 new tech suits and the secrets to how he did it cuzz that’s crazy 😂😂😂 Kyle since Ik you got Phelps on speed dial ask him before I buy for the tickets 😂😂😂😂
as a kpop stan, im used to these types of prices for VIP souncheck and hi touch privileges, i still think this is ridiculous, its athletes loved ones who are going to be there, why would they charge so much
So I was lucky enough to get to go watch my niece in 2012 and nephew in 2016 so I checked the price I paid in Omaha and it was $600 for the session in what is now a $1700 seat. Add cost of flight and hotel and you have priced out the family and friends of the competitors. Must be a lot of corporate tickets sold.
Thats more than a good seat at the London 2012 Olympic finals. Countries with 2 university swimmers at the olympics get a great number of tickets and their delegates sell them off.....oh thats not fair play.
Omg. I just forwarded the email to my husband to get tickets for our family. He replied with the $500+ for nosebleed-WTF. Why would they do this?! Insanity. So are people going to sell individual event seats? We wouldn’t go to the entire thing…
Hmmmm, I’ve seen you talk about swimming becoming a more mainstream sport and wanting an increase in viewership, isn’t this a by product of that? Still think the prices are crazy.
Anyone hiring? Will work for tickets 🥺
Give me shoutout 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺💀
They should give you a media badge my man!!
best up and coming swim youtuber there is!
Appreciate you! Trying to do what I can to help grow the sport, who knows where the channel will be at in 2024
These prices are absolutely absurd
For real

Did they sell out or not? If they sold out price can still go higher. Profits are used to support swimming
@@bobfusinati6614 they've probably sold about 10% of the tickets (if that) to their own members...
Got my heart ripped out when I logged into ticket master. Omaha was goated
We got two nosebleed seats and still have money left over to buy binoculars 😂
Get some good ones! 🤣
I'm gonna be honest I will just be getting those single-session tickets, I used to live in omaha and that's always what my family did

$25 for pool side. Max!

Totally agree, club teams can’t touch these ticket prices…
Looks like we gotta just swim or way onto the pool deck since that's worth approximately a doctor's yearly salary.

I feel like prices should be a quarter of these! This is ridiculous!
Crazy, its so much better on tv/youtube
This is insane. Your commentary is great.
Hey Kyle, just found your account and wanted to ask you, which camera are you using for your videos in the pool?
GoPro hero 10 black

Brutal decision. Also, no one did trials like Omaha - Indy can't come close

do you even get to watch if you have an athlete racing or are you paying 500 bux to see the race
From a coaches perspective or as a parent/family member? Parents are paying just like everyone else, but coaches can get in to coach for sure.

Do you get any free tickets for qualifying?
YOU (the athelte) get to go, but you don't get any plus ones.
If you want to skip on hotel, just lmk! I’ve got access to a house and a condo at no charge lol.
Guess I’m not gonna go see my teammate swim then

I literally thought my wife was joking with me when she told me these prices.
I would pay max 1,000 for court side single person

Individual session tickets go on sale on February 1st...should be interesting to see how much they go for.
Nah that's crazy!
Guess the only way I’m going to trails is qualifying (I won’t be going)
15,000$
So frustrating that parents and family of qualified swimmers cant even attend to support their athlete due to this outrageous pricing😥
Maybe for a $2000 I would sit pool side
Has Hinchey made a statement?
Nothing that I’ve seen, wish there was some reasoning attached to the pricing increase.
20$
fair price, fair price.
Don’t need to pay if you make the meet 😎😎

CRAZY
