I just bought one like a half hour ago it’s charging right now. I’m a DEWALT guy. Got the last one as others passed it by. It was also -50 degrees Celsius this morning. My battery isn’t fully dead just needs help. I know it’ll work as you’ve prove the theory. LETS GO DEWALT!!
I just used it,and it started like I always do no hesitation no what so ever. And it still -35 out. Now to go on about my day!! Add it to my DEWALT collection!!
I bought one of these at princess auto a few months ago for $99. Started my wifes car with a dead battery like nothing im very impressed with it. I also take it with me if i go in the woods with my quad as well. Its a life saver
I have an old Schumacher 225 amp charger and it will start my cars. I also have one of the Noco-like jump packs but of course I always forget to keep it charged. I ended up buying the Ryobi One+ jump starter and though it's much larger than the lithium packs it works really well. Another TH-camr used the Ryobi to start a 454 with a completely dead battery that had been sitting for a few months - that completely surprised me. I keep the Ryobi in an old Craftsman tool bag which fits it very nicely.
Thanks for the video! I noticed a couple of things though: The instructions say NOT to use this device for marine vehicles. Also, when connecting the cables to the battery, you are to insert the tip of the Smart Clamps controller into the Smart Clamps port BEFORE connecting the clamps to the positive and then negative battery posts. This unit is only designed for 12v batteries. It will not (according to instructions) work with 6v and could explode if connected to 24v.
Appreciate the video as I'm looking at picking up one of these kinds of small jumpers ...(im pushing 60 and just dont intuitively trust somethingvso wee and plastic to jump a car)! The DeWalt is o e of the lower priced ones... One tip is that I would have liked to see the battert hooked up to a meter to show how dead it was before being jumped.
We would like to thank you so much for your explanation, it's very helpful. I have a question about the testing time of the device? is it after the testing of the other devices or on another day? 🤔 Because if it's after testing the other devices, maybe the car battery recharged at the other devices' testing, so the battery will not be completely death. The big challenge is that you plug off from the battery and let the wrangler depend on the device and the alternator, after that, let we see the result.
I would love to see you crank that engine with the battery completely disconnected or show the battery as completely flat. My Noco GB40 will crank my 5.7 tundra engine with no battery connected easily.
Cool. Thanks. Does that thing trickle charge a battery, like on my ATV? Or another question, does it charge a cell phone?. Thanks. Good video. I just got that 1600 used in a trade for 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood,, used. If it works like you say, good trade.
That final point. Just keep a high lumen fully charged flashlight 🔦 nearby. Always. Im using this Dewalt to charge my phone 📱. Haven't really tested it except once. It did crank a V6.
I'm not surprised the large charger wouldn't start the vehicle. Most of the time these "Smart" chargers fail if conditions aren't just right. I have an old school Schumacher brand 200A transformer based unit that will start anything... car, truck, tractor, etc. You can also weld with it in a pinch. :-) That small unit looks nice. One complaint I have with a lot of these is the LED. Where is it you need light at night? Answer: Being able to see to properly attach the cables. So why do they put the LED on the opposite side or some other position where you CANNOT point the light at the battery while making the connection? I don't really need the light shining in my eyes while trying to hook things up. 🙂
Buy the noco loke a model GB40 GB50 etc this is a top quality booster and the led is at the right place. I strongly believe that the designers never tried this product or even those of other manufacturers so they never tried it in the dark before launching production. Dewall should stay in the construction tools and not in the automobile.
that square one is one i was talking about on your last vid i cant get my jumper box to work with that one. it may be a error on my part i have tried just about every dance i can do though. ill have to revisit your vid and see whats up
Nice video. I saw this item and am really considering it for the brand over the noco I hear about. I have a used Schumacher that sucks and doesn’t do anything but work as a flash light. I wonder how good these little chargers truly are compared to the carry ones that have options on them like air inflation etc
Some will but a lot will not. That' why I have an old school Jump 'N Carry that is just a battery in a box. No electronics to out smart me. It doesn't even care if there is no battery present at all.
I like it! I’m a Milwaukee guy, but I like a good Dewalt product as well. HeyI have a Flexvolt Table Saw. Anyway…Milwaukee doesn’t have charging products like the ones you discussed from Dewalt. What I like about the Dewalt chargers, like the small one is the rubber over molding. I got one from Costco that’s similar to the one you have, but it’s more along the line of a nicer electronic device, not built for rough handling.
I just got one of these when my old battery died as I was taking my time with all the doors open, doing a lot of fall cleaning... The battery was an AGM type. I just replaced it today, and the associate at the parts store mentioned something I have never been told or heard before that AGM batteries can't be jump-started like old traditional batteries. One icon on the website where I bought it says AGM, Gel, Wet 12v compatible. It did start my old 2018 purchased AGM, but now I am concerned as I've seen one ad icon but no other supporting info on AGM in the user manual or online anywere. Thoughts?
Pretty cool! I might consider one of those DeWalt smaller units when my current no name brand one goes out. But then, those Noco units are also very good and they have been in the business for a long time. The one benefit of the Noco units is that they come with many different power output capacities. We'll see what happens. Thanks for another nice review! Cheers!
So you wouldn’t be able to use a standard Apple USB-C charge to charge via USB-C? Anyone tried this? Not a huge fan of having a dedicated USB-A to USB-A cable
Dewalt should just make battery crimps that have flat slade connectors on the other end instead. With the instructions that simply read. “We won’t tell if you won’t! 😉 “

@@BurtChristopherson-id5nw They claim 5 hours, and I think it finished charging in about that much time. The instructions for charging were a little lacking. With the Jump Started turned off and plugged into the charger, the 3 LEDs will blink. If you have the system turned on. It will show you basically how much it is currently charged. However I am not sure it will charge, when it is turned on, as the LEDs do not blink at all. I will get back to you, when I get a chance to use this device. I have a slow battery drain in my car, so if I do not drive the car for a day or two. I will have to give it a jump start.
@@WorkshopAddict i went back to make sure i didn't miss anything, my video starts off with you holding this unit in your hand and talking about it just before you bring it to the car and its attached to the battery then you jump start it ...
Anyone on this thread just connect a power tool battery directly to the car for a minute then start the engine? There are many videos of this on youtube and I can confirm it works fine and does not damage the car. The straight connection with no fuse or anthing drops the voltage at the battery to about 16v so not much above what the alternator provides to the lead acid vehicle battery. After sitting like that for a minute or so the car will usually start right up and a mid-size power tool battery will have dropped by abotu 25%.
If I get a chance, I will yry this is a video. The issue to me would be the size of wire and the inability for it to transfer many amps to the battery. I could be wrong.
It is strange for me that there is still no such product present. Direct battery connection could damage your battery - the current is just too much for the cells, but a controlled charge and some capacitors for the first second of crank could be the solution, but nobody is doing that...

Does it still work fine?
Still works like new, even after the water.
the cigarette lighter adapter kinda puzzled me. i guess for after your jumpstart you can replace any lost juice immediately
For use with a memory saver cable that connects with under dash OBD plug.
I have one of these and it doesn’t charge am I doing something wrong?
Did it charge or something? Mine seemed not charging too, and it was changed today cos of the same problem
Anyone know why it would not charge after use
My jumpstarter won't take an incoming charge either after I jumped my Siverado.

My educated guess would be yes. You're leaving a lot of info out. Is it a standard boat engine or an 850 hp engine.
