This was my favorite build of the series so far. The DLC is justifiably getting a lot of criticism, and while it's not worth $10 it does add some much needed variety to the game. Palm trees do so much to make a waterfront come to life.
Thank you! I agree I do really love all the buildings and palms that were added. It just feels like not the right dlc right now.
I feel like these 'beach property' assets are more fitting for US suburbs, and i've been using them for that since then. especially the NA ones, so good assets but a bad dlc : D
$10 bucks? Thats not sh*t people really think thats too much? A bag of chips and a drink is $10.... not that crazy for a forever lasting digital asset.
It's not amazing but its not stretching the dollar, and the assets for me look more like desert homes if i had to make a complaint.
If anything it should've just been added in as a free update instead.
@@jameseddleman6944 Not only US players play CS II, here in Poland its 45 PLN - you can buy food for weekend or even whole week if you dont eat too much for that
Assets are on distant island, so that citizens don't see such a shameful DLC.
Oh my god stop hating so much it’s not that bad at least we get new houses
@@rvgytroblox634 🤡
@@rvgytroblox634for $10???
It’s insulting.
If you don’t like it don’t buy it. Simple as.
@@rvgytroblox6344 palm trees
I think part of the reason why the cars just appear, is 'cause commercial buildings can sell vehicles. Even if the citizens can't bring their car via ferry, they could get a new car at a dealer, though that begs the question how the dealer gets those cars.
As for what you can place at that forest at the end of the island, I'd keep it mostly intact so it's a recreational forest. Maybe some parking or the campsite park to get some outdoor recreation going, cause that does seem like the kind of tourism that this place attracts.
Can cars come by ferries ?
I believe when a store opens - it has an initial supply of resources. Then when it runs out - it calls for more resources.
How did any of the building supplies and road materials get there?
A mod will fix that
On the car front, although the in game reason is probably just that sims spawn them, almost all reasonably sized ferries around the world have space for cars. So it isn't unjustified.
I like how you are using the current state of the game, despite what it lacks, to build something beautiful. I know that so many people are not happy in the moment, i am also, about some stuff, but i see (specifically after introducing the Pdx Mods and the latest changes) a lot of hope, please keep doing what you are doing, it’s beautiful.
Thanks man! I think it’s because I genuinely enjoy playing it. Custom assets and some fixed bugs would do wonders
the European beach houses zoning is actually perfect for middle suburban Melbourne or Sydney with all the italian/greek immigrant renovation houses with giant columns and concrete
Hello :) Long Islander here! I love what you did honestly it reminds me of areas like hampton bays and out east. A lot of places out east are still named using local Shinnecock names. i.e Sagaponack, Amagansett, Ronkonkoma, etc. Again it looks awesome! I love it!!
Thank you! So no places named Jenny? 😅
def reminiscent of out east... out west by NYC is very dense - love it
@@twodollarstwenty Hahaha actually there is a place named Shirley! So Jenny is very on brand!
Love this!! For me the island is more reminiscent of Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, MA... if they were a little closer to Boston!
With Anarchy enabled you can build ship routes, roads, railways etc without buying any new tiles
Was just about to say the same thing.
Dude you consistently make the best landscapes in this game. The trees, the hills, the path of roads and rivers and stuff. Take as long as you need on terraforming, it clearly works.
on the tip of the island i feel like a lighthouse is obligatory
Im responding to hopefully push your comment up lol. But I haven’t played this game yet; do they even have lighthouse assets? I haven’t seen them in any videos ive watched.
@compagno_michele1107 unfortunately not!
I think sims can buy cars from commercial. When you zone commercial, they spawn with some stock already in inventory without necessarily having industrial.
That’s interesting! Wish there were dealerships. Imagine watching your cim go out and buy a new car!
I feel like you've got to put some Gatsby-esque mansions at the end of the island where you built the winding road. Not sure if the assets exist for it (maybe the bigger unique houses from the Beach Properties DLC)
100%!
Why would they release a Beachfront asset pack without having surf shops and boardwalk commercial businesses?!
money
Some of the new mods actually got me back to playing CS2, and I have to say I kinda enjoyed it. Hopefully this is the start of something good. Really enjoying this series too, I was today years old when I learned you could place wind turbines on water, lol. Thanks!
Just a heads up, you can use Dev Mode to speed up the simulation to make the water flow faster so you don't have to wait so long. You should really look into the Dev Mode tool, it's pretty powerful!
Oh wow I didn’t know that thanks!
Sully has a bunch of texture packs for shoreline/waterfront that would work very well for the marshlands you are working on.
Are they available on pdxmods? That sounds perfect
The way you edit your videos is so calming and chill, love it!
I live on Long Island and we definitely don’t have any palm trees here. Not sure how accurate you want to mimic the area. If you want inspiration for waterfront towns, check out Northport, Port Jefferson, Sayville, Greenport, and Montauk. For names, we have lots of Native American names for lots of our towns. Love the build!
Ah bummer but what about those 4 palm trees!? 😂 I’ll check out those places thanks
16:26 - I was so upset you got rid of that little lake up top, I thought it was perfect
42:55 - I say a business park with some sort of observatory or thing like that
Okay so Jersey actually has beaches, and alot of the home are very nice, look into long beach island, pt pleasant (which has a train that goes into NYC) I think youre onto something more than you think
Cheers I’ll check it out!
There's also Seaside Heights with it's boardwalk
I'm absolutely loving this build, every time I see an episode of it pop up in my library it makes me so happy
I don't mind a terraforming episode. It tickles my inner mapmaker. 😅
Love seeing a build of my home! Long Island!
I think players wouldn't be that outraged about the pack if it wasn't for the price. It's worth max 4-5 bucks not 10
More like it should've been worth zero tbh.
It should've just been added as part of the update.
@@Ilikefire2792 yeah I agree but I know that they wouldn't do that ever
If you don’t think it’s worth it, don’t buy it. They’ll get the news is the market speaks.
@@Toms-garden who said I had bought it. I can critisie it without buying it
I thought it was 5 and I was still kinda pissed off 💀💀💀
I love at 2:56 you showed the loop bridge on loop parkway. My friend used to work it, and three other draw bridges on long island. It was awesome to see the loop again. We would spend hours in video calls just talking away laughing at so much and comparing our countries respectively.
We really need a historical building button
100% needed
It’d be such an easy and amazing addition!
The bay where the harbour is kinda looks like a dinosaur head and neck to me, especially with the boardwalk acting as the mouth and teeth! Perhaps then it could be called 'Dino Bay/Harbour', or even 'Nessie Bay/Harbour' (after the Loch Ness Monster).
I watched this whole episode with my five year old son and I want to thank you for giving us another thing to bond over!
Lovely! You’re welcome and thank you both for watching!
i was expecting a more sleepy town, dreary industrial east coast vibe but what you did (and always do) was anything beyond my imagination. Love it
I’m from Long Island and it makes me happy seeing it inspire your city!
I’m so glad! Give me some insider knowledge 😊
Excellent video, I love it!
seeing u talk about and build on long island is so cool for me living here 🙏
Beautiful town and amazing editing
i think some sort of observation area for that area at the end of the road would be cool, having those 270 degree views of the surrounding ocean is amazing especially on top of that forested hill.
Palm trees are surprisingly hardy, and can grow in climates you wouldn't expect. Being from the UK, a guy I know was born and raised in Ayr a town on the Scottish coast and they have palm trees all along their beach.
The trees also never lose their leaves. That's also part of the winter problem.
Omg you’re right…
@@its_nebulose haha, thank you for the validation. I kept waiting for someone else to comment on it and it never came.... I was starting to wonder if somehow I was losing it lol
Half as many dogs as people... It's the Isle of Dogs! 😄
Yo two dollars twenty, you are the best builder on TH-cam! Thanks for being so thoughtful and intelligent with your builds and narrative! Take my money! Seriously, where do I donate?
Never mind. Found it. Sponsored bro!
Dude thank you so much! Too kind!
The South side of the ferry cove looks amazing, but I think the Northern bend needs a quay that links up to the ferry parking lot.
"Blair witch project vibes" oh man, that sentence really took me back. I wonder if most people of my (our?) generation (aged 32) have a clear memory of when they first saw that movie.
Nice town!
Haha yeah it’s a throwback to the 2000s for sure!
I feel like they really went shallow here. As an east coaster I have to say that we have some pretty cool commercial buildings on the beachside so they had tons to choose from. Hotels and family owned stores around the beach over here look so great! Also, putting my bias aside, some true beach assets from Florida and California would’ve made this even better. 10 dollars is just too much for a half baked idea!
You can bring the water level to the final state immediately in Dev Mode under Simulation and Water
Would love to see you do something based around Atlantic city on that main coast. Enjoying the CS2 Content.
Also in New York State all of our wind turbines are on top of hills literally ALL of them so you should place them in the Forrest’s on top of hills that is where they really are (although most of the turbines are 5-6 hours away from NYC/ Long Island near where i live lol! It’s sad the wind turbines in our back yard do not really power our homes!
Also Long Island is the best train corridor in all of the US and NJ is also one of the best states for trains i hope this will be factored in! Maybe you can build a massive train tunnel under the water!
The windy road could lead to a lighthouse (if it's even available).
Also I don't mind the cars on the island. After all a ferry is perfectly capable of carrying vehicles as well as people.
This kind of reminds me of Block Island which is a little east of Long Island. They have the offshore windmills as well
Long Island is pretty flat in many areas but has some very hilly spots. The north shore is mostly cliffs with high end mansions, the middle and southern part of the island is where most people live and has many marinas and beaches but the eastern half starts to get sparsely populated but that’s also where the moneys at because of the Hamptons
The New Town reminds me a lot of Mount Desert Island, commonly known as Bar Harbor, in Maine.
The reason why there is regular cars is because there is car delerships in some of the commercial areas and people buy cars and ect! Thanks!
since you have anarchy, you can turn that on and connect sea lanes in tiles that are not turned acquired.
This is literally st Pete beach in Florida, more emphasis on the big highway bridge but it’s pretty much the same idea
Always love the use of Simcity music
You should name the town Point Fisher! This build reminds me of Nantucket a lot, and when Nantucket was originally founded, the Dutch Explorer named it “Point of the Fishers.”
42:40 this place looks perfect for a lighthouse, i don't think there's a lighthouse in the base assets though, but I'm sure you'll figure it out
Reminds me of sunset city. Man do I miss the story telling in the city skylines 1
Having mods like Anarchy and trees mod are already a game changer. cant wait to see what modders will add to the game. It will Make CS2 a true successor to CS1. for now i'm glad you havent given up on CS2 like others have. We need to hold on a bit longer before its actually a great game, but we are getting there, step by step
Yea in San Diego their is barely any houses on the beach side. It’s all condos and apartments that are right on the sand and I feel they could’ve implemented a lot more than they did
This looks good.
Okay… it’s beautiful but it’s time to get back to sunset city and Oceania… we can’t lose you 🥺
In honour of the first person to step on the island, you should name a park after Magnus Paxton!
Was that one of the first cims names? Love it!
@@twodollarstwenty Yes! At 35:35
This town looks fantastic. Imagine how amazing it will look once mods are a thing
Love the SC5 music
Well, it is possible to get cars into boats, so not that much weird tbh. In Brazil we even have a ferry just to get to one of the areas by car.
You should build a container storage area not cargo harbour but a concrete area where they store containers an island would need this plus you could make it dirty and industrial looking with the dev mode assets
Hey bro , loving the vids!
I wanted to ask , when i sub to the mods in the PDX it wont be on any new game i start , any idea?
Finally some long island representation!
Ferry in the bay is fine, look up british columbias ferry system
This neo thone remember me to the costal swamps of newjersey and the baltimore bay, concretely to the Tangeir island and the tagier sound prety close to the bridge that has colapsed (sadly i know about this thone because of the colapse of it)
Beach front properties also says to me an area where it doesn't snow! Its sunny. They can make it snow on beach front properties but they can' t provide them with any actual beach. Keeps saying a lot.
You should be able to attach the sea paths outside your purchased tiles if you have anarchy enabled.
Hello mate. Love your vids! Btw. Last update messed up TAA for me. Visual gliches. Flickering icons. Terraform circle ouut of sync. Any advice on that? What is your graphic settings?
Hey! No work around I’m afraid except turn TAA off and switching to a different anti-assailing
Thanks
You could use the dev tool to get the ore industry ground texture to make a sort of beach. Definitely not the best but its something 😅
these homes don't really shout beach front maybe if they spawned with palm trees & had some silted foundations for slopey terrain that be cool if we had sand be nice to have homes on the beaches
When The Stock Music Hits ooooh
love ur map u gonna release it sometime?
Name idea for the island: Birch Island
Do you have any suggestions on the hardware necessary for a "budget" PC build that is capable of running CS to a similar level to you w/ similar amounts of mods?
It seems like anarchy is a little less chaotic than it was before. Cause you're staying in anarchy for a while without weird chaos happening prompting you to turn it off.
It look fine :) but still i think that zones are batter solution :)
Just reminding you about Georges pretend house in the Hamptons, at the end of Long Island.
SC2 Is a nice starting framework, but I just can't get too involved with it while it is sort of half finished.
Because of these mods i decided to come back to cs2.I have more hope for cs2 now.
Could be a roll on roll off ferry. They can carry vehicles.
Did you see the new roadhouse movie? Made me think of sunset city, maybe you can dedicate an episode to it, make a road house on the keys with the story and the gangs? I hope you will return to sunset city soon
Is it possible to place the fallen dead trees? A patch of those over on your marshy area might make it look a bit "marshy." If we had willow trees, those would look great there, too.
you can connect waterways using anarchy
also road is upside out and beach waterside need to turn against sea so beach is on back yard not in front of road :D
Rip Sunset City you will be missed
Many cruise ships allow cars on the deck.
Was the "For Sale" signs on the houses there before?
some of those houses look very coastal northeast
Its waist of perfect lagoon beach :) harbor need to be on enter of island like 10km of premium houses similar like Malibu :)
when will you post next?
The cims might have cars because they can buy them from dealerships. There may be a commircial building that sells cars
Dude, you need extended landacape tools.
Maybe it’s a bit overkill but how about a university/college on the island? Or an observatory
I love the town name
The beaches are dead-on wonderful & have good views.
I love the beach properties assets! I got ultimate so no cost. I do love them. I use the beach property ties as more of a a high wealth area indicator. When a place has high level homes, I add a park and then the beach homes. Makes the place look really nice!
