  • How to fix Samsung Tablet 2 with not charging problem. It is a chip level fixing. I didn't remove the battery for 10 sec. or recharged the battery externally. I studied the schematic and fixed the problem as engineer. It is a final fixing so the client will not comeback with a discharged tablet again. Also, the battery is not charging continuously. When it gets charged, it will stop charging.
    I watched so many videos performed by non expert people repeating all what they watched from each other, using a metal knife, turning on the tablet until next time it descharges again...
    So, it was time to "really show you guys, how to fix the no charging loop problem". ...and remember, if there is another video alike, just check the date and find out who was the first one who really fixed it like this! ;-)
    If you like it and if it helps you, please give a LIKE and join my channel for more Electronics Laboratory and Engineering videos.
    Thanks by watching it!

    THANKS JAREK for you contribuition. :-)
    About the diode used in the video: I didn't have an SMD supplier on that time. So, you can do as I did. Take a good size SMD diode from another smartphone, tablet or laptop. It has to be a good one, and generally they are located close to the main power connector or charging circuit.
    This is the video how to ope it: • How to take apart a ta...
    This is the schematic for Tab 2: www.s-manuals.c...

    Download it and save it, before the Website's page goes offline.

    Thank you for this. I have a TAB 2 7.0" that needed this mod. I glued a diode to the bottom of that circuit and ran enameled wires to it from those caps. I tried your way at first but the board would not sit properly in the case. Works great now and I noticed the charging IC stays cooler.

    Bob, I have a Samsung P3113TS Tablet 2 with the problem you described. I would like to apply the fix you demonstrated. Do you have a video showing how to get to the location on the pcb that the diode is applied to? I downloaded the service manual and schematics for the P3100, so are these are the applicable documents? I am a manufacturing engineer, with some electronics training, so I think I should be able to do this. What is the diode part number or specifications to do the replacement? If I apply this fix, will it cause the battery to overheat in the future, or be unsafe in any way? Thanks for the video!

      +Dan Dell Hi! I don't have a SMD diode supplier. I recommend to remove the diode from another tablet, smartphone or laptop out of order and to use it in your tablet. Just try to find a "big" diode close to the power input from them. I did the diode bypass after fixing a bad capacitor in the tablet.
      VERY IMPORTANT: if the battery is Samsung original, it will not over charge or heat . The battery will stop charging when it is full, because the internal chip in the battery will stop the charging. (Reducing it to very few micro amperes).

    Hi Bob, great video. Is the diode you're using just a rectifier diode with forward voltage drop of 0.7V? I know that a 1n4001 would be physically too large so what are you using? A good friend of mine is having problems with her tablet. I'm going to try to get her to send it to me. might as well put a new battery in it when I have it open. will this modification cause any problems with a new battery or is this correcting a design flaw?

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric Ellis Any diode strong to pass 2 Amperes is good. If you read the comments you will see that to place an 1N400X diode is not a good idea. Because the mechanical problems, and if it straights up, it will take off the capacitor. It is better to use a SMD pulled diode from another smartphone, tablet r laptop. If there is an electronics problem to fix, you must look for it and repair it. The bypass works well with Samsung original batteries, because it has a chip, and they will stop charging at the end.

      Thanks Bob, I wasn't planning on using the 4000 series since it would be way to large anyway. Great little video. Her tablet is having a problem where the screen flickers a bunch of random junk. It you give it a "technical tap" it starts working again. Guessing that the connection is loose/oxidized/whatever. Came across your video and figured I'd do the mod to prevent a future problem. Will get an oem battery replacement since it doesn't last very long before it needs charging. Thanks again for your help.

    Thanks a lot.
    I just have a question; many devices are there which works on a Battery and a charging circuit built in. If the charging circuit fails there must be way to use the device without charging circuit, (i.e.) by-pass and connect the supply directly. The only difficulty could be that the Tab will have to be connected to the supply source, well I don't mind using my Tab2 this way also. Can you help me ?
    Per your explanation I am trying to connect a Schottkey Diode 5819. Please advice.
    Wish you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. May God bless you with bets of everything in the world.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Subramaniam Kabaleeswaran Amen! Thank you! Blessings to your family too. IMPORTANT! You can bypass the original battery because it has a protection circuit built in. But it is dangerous in direct connection to the battery or with cloned batteries. Normal diodes are good in low frequency rectification. But schottky diodes are not good in HIGH currents. Also I am charging over the battery's voltage and under the charge's voltage. (5V - 0.7 =4.3V). Try it! Maybe it will work. Just make sure the diode is not heating, and the tablet stops charging at full charge. You can use a normal rectifier, and cables with good insulation to do not make short circuits too.
      To bypass another equipment, we will need to seat for a moment and analyze the schematic to be sure about what are we doing? ...as I did it with the tablet. :-)

      Hi, Thanks for the swift reply. Can you help me with the changes to do in the circuit diagram. Can I use a 7805 and then with a simple diode drop it to say 4.3v .
      Please please help with me with the circuit.
      In fact your video only helped me to open the Tab, .
      I have the Typical problem , it doesn't turn on or showing charging thats why all these.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Subramaniam Kabaleeswaran Dear friend, do not use a 7805. Just a diode is OK. Your charger and the chip in the battery do the rest. But it looks like you have another problem to fix before. If the battery is good, and it will charge outside with your charger and a serial diode, then you must look for another bad device in the tablet. Check first for a bad capacitor before to go after the chips. Remember a short circuit capacitor should not have continuity in both sides, with your negative on ground. Only two capacitors are close to ground, one in the WiFi, and another in the charging control circuit, because they are in parallel with a low resistor. (My bad capacitor was in parallel with the low resistor in the charging chip). :-)
      ...at the end of my video; How to test a capacitor, I showed to lift up one side, and to test it, in case you found a capacitor in short circuit. th-cam.com/video/uBUEjeS5UmI/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for this video.
    My tablet is not charging when I plug it in. There is nothing on the screen - no charge indicator. Screen is completely blank and device shows no indication of being powered on. Looks dead. I am charging via wall outlet.
    When I plug the USB cable into my laptop, it shows a message "installing device drivers" but is unsuccessful. In device manager a new device appears and disappears continuously: OMAP3342 Screen is the same at that time (looks dead).
    The tablet has been sitting for at least 6 months so I suspect that the battery is really undercharged.
    I've opened the unit and removed the battery connector and reconnected. Still no signs of life.
    How you you troubleshoot this? What should I check for first? Your help is really appreciated.

    Hi Bob. Thanks for video. Could you please explane schematically what you bypassed with a diode? I have different model (T110) that also stopped charging but it looks like charging IC (328A) has died - output charging voltage is no more than about 0.8V so when plugged even though showing "charging" the battery goes empty (tried with a spare battery too).

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +andrey shchepetov Hi! Because I am not there, and I have not the same model on hand, any advice would be dangerous. :( ...Try to charge the battery with a power supply. If the tablet works and charges after it, then do the diode bypass at the END. If it doesn't charge after you charged the battery, then you MUST look for the bad parts and fix them, before to do the diode bypass. Because you will not want a fire ignition tablet at home.
      (At the end, and after fixing the bad devices, the diode will go as follows. Anode from the 5 Volts positive input in the input connector, and Cathode connected to the positive 3.7 Volts in the battery). You can keep the bypass IF, and only IF, the tablet stops charging after full charge. Because you don't want a tablet charging eternally.

    Hi Bob. I found my C743 is in short-circuit, you mentioned in your video that you changed it. But your video doesn't show this change, isn't it? This capacitor is on the back of the board you show in your video. So how I can get this kind of capacitor and how to change it? Thanks for the advice!

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Enrique Martinez Hi! I don't remember its value. (Capacitors for stabilization of reference voltages for less than 100mV are from 10uF to 1uF most of the time). IF, it was the problem, the tablet can work without it.
      PAY attention: C743 is in parallel with a low ohms resistor. (There is another like that in the WiFi section). Make sure your capacitor is really bad, and no that you are reading less than one Ohm value in parallel to it. As I said; if C743 was your problem, just remove it and make the "diode bypass", and it should work.

    • @EnriqueMartinez1971

      +Bob. Kalpon Thanks Bob, for the rapid answer. I'm sure this capacitor is the problem since I got a beep on both sides of it, when connected to the ground, besides I got a measurement of OL uF on my meter on both sides (connected to the board). So could you send me a diagram showing this "by-pass" it's like putting a diode parallel with the capacitor? With the anode to which side? How can I recognize it on the board.Thanks again!

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Enrique Martinez NOP!!! Just REMOVE the capacitor. (Make a test for the capacitor out of board). The tablet can live without that capacitor. The diode is placed in the other side of the board.

      +Enrique Martinez We use SMD rework soldering stations for it.
      Some times, I didn't have the right soldering iron for it. ...I had to sharp the iron tip, and use a light electrical dimmer in serial with the iron to reduce the temperature. (I did it last year too when I moved here), until I bought my Gordak 952 Rework Soldering Station. But it is not the right way to do it, if the component was so small. I had to buy 5 extra different size tips for my iron for professional jobs.

      Some cars burned the engine because its use. Another new cars, crashed with total lost, but the engine was like new. We can't have a full inventory, and or Supplier doesn't have it all. To collect components is an art. I try to get from broken computers and smartphones. They can be new, or like new, but cracked plastics and broken main board, but they are a great source to fix things. Remember, if we can fix it, we get money. If there is not part to replace, we just lost the time, and the client its item. ;-)

Also, if you don't have a SMD electronic components supplier, you can use a diode pulled out from another smartphone, tablet or laptop, out of order. Just make sure it is one of the big ones close to the power input connector. :-)

    do you have the same solution for the Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 P5100? Which are the component to connect with the diode?

      Hi! It could be a component linked with the positive line in the battery, whereas you have a good tack to conduct the charging current without to heat the printed circuit board's track.

    I just got the capacitor off, it is 1.3 uF approximately, this is the reading putting the multimeter on both sides of it. Is it correct? I assembled the tablet again, now it seems that is charging but it doesn't charge, this could be because I haven't put the diode? Now, I found this diode in ebay, this could work? 200V 2A SS220 SR2200 SMD Schottky Diode? Thanks...

    My friend I have a galaxy tab 4 T330, from a customer, charging port was burnt on pin before vcc, replaced it. But then battery started charging on 0.90amps and suddenly to 0 , over and over in a loop I could verify this as I have a USBcharger with display showingamps. I tested VBUS coming out from pmic and voltage it's going to the battery port. Now , is this something similar to what you're explaining? I didn't find any short. this is totally crazy. Hi! The bypass is is done after fixing a mayor problem or for total discharge's problem. But if you have a bad component, a technician must fix it first.

    • @radosawwislak6863
      @radosawwislak6863 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the mayor problem would be capacitors which you talked about in your video?

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mayor problem is "the problem". There is a bad electronics component, and it could be anyone from all of them, or more than one, from capacitors, chips, resistors, conductors, transistors, the solder, anything. As I said, one well trained or certified technician will find it.

      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Raj Gill Hi! I fixed an electronic component before to make the bypass. But I am an electronics engineer, backed up with test equipment. You need to know electronics and get some experience or repairing skills before to perform any fixing. My best recommendation is to look for an experienced electronics technician to do the job. No everywhere is good. Some mobile phone shops have a trained person able to change screens and batteries. You need a real electronics service like the shops where they repair TVs, and general electronics, with good measurement equipment like an oscilloscope, and signal generators.
      Take your time to look for the good ones before to give it to service. :-)

    Hi bob, my tab have the same problem, I remove the battery and charge it externally, when it charged I can turn on my tab, but when I charge it, the battery level is decrease.
    I have try another original tab charger but didn't work
    when I plug it on computer, it sound connect and disconnect looping,
    do I have to put diode like video above too?

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yes, you can make the bypass. But the tablet should not turn on and off plugged to the computer. It looks like there is a bad component like a capacitor. That capacitor is behaving alike a resistance. (In another words, it is not totally bad, open or in short circuit). So, it is harder to find.
      My best recommendation is: an electronics technician has to look for the bad capacitor using an Ohm meter. Most capacitors have a very high resistance, and our bad guy a low one. (There are one capacitor in parallel with a low resistance that shows almost a short circuit, the one I changed in the charging circuit, and another hidden in the WiFi area. Just to let you to know about them). Some capacitors are redundant, they exist only to suppress electrical noise in case if there is it. That kind of capacitors can be removed, and doesn't need to be replaced. Some others, have an specific function, and must be replaced with the same specification. Which one is it..? If the technician find the bad guy, just remove it and try the tablet to see if it misses it. I leaved the link with the schematics up in the video description.
      The other option if the technician can't find the bad capacitor, is to make the bypass, and to use the tablet until the capacitor dies. Then it will be easy to find it, if it gets in short circuit. Remember it: the job must be performed by a professional in electronics. Some discretion is needed for it.

      @galihsan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for your reply,
      I forgot to mention that when my tablet battery is empty, I plug my tablet to computer, it sound connect and disconnect
      but after I charge the battery externally, it can connected to computer,
      so the problem is when the battery empty it just like your video above when I plug the charger,
      but when the battery is not empty, and I charge it, the battery level is not increase, but it decrease
      for example I charge my tablet when the battery is 50%, after a few minutes it decrease to 49%, and after few minutes more it decrease to 48% , so charging tablet only make my battery run out faster :(
      did the bypass could save my problem?
      sorry for my english :)

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It will solve the problem. Just make sure you use original Samsung battery that has internal chip protection.
      (...and just to explain what is happening to you: When the battery goes under the "operation level", it drives part of the tablet, but a security system doesn't let it to start in that level. The big mistake was that the charging circuit is on the side that doesn't operate under 3.7 Volts, and They didn't place the circuit in the stand by system. So, the part that prevent the tablet to start, keeps going on, until it discharges the battery.).
      Yes, make the bypass. Just take your time and ensure it is well done, before to turn the tablet on. IF YOU are a technician, you can do it yourself. If you are not a technician, DO NOT DO IT, and give to an expert to make the bypass. :-)

    • @bob.kalpon1398

      Hi! A good battery rates longer to charge, and it lasts the longest to discharge. A bad battery chargers in short period of time and discharges in a few minutes. For an average battery 4, 5 or even 6 hours are good time if the battery works for several hours. But also I saw people using the wrong charger, with 500 mA or 700 mA when they should use 2 Amperes charges for bigger smartphones and tablets.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +nendry levi Hi! I made some videos from general electronic equipment we got to fix from friends or clients. It is not that I have some specific tablet like yours on the stand and the time to record a video. From all the electronics components in it, any one or them or more than one can be your problem to fix. I can help with some advises to colleagues with technical knowledge and experienced in reparation skills. My best advice to you is to bring it to a technician for repairing. (People ask for technical help, but they always add pictures, plus information about what they already tested or have done in it. But it is not that any technician or engineer can point to the right button and it will be fixed). Please be carefully about playing with it. Remember the battery could explosive or fire ingnittion device.
      Most of the time we see the tablet trying to charge and discharging, it is related with an electronic component in short circuit. After solving the electronics reparation, the battery should work fine. Or if by default the battery is under the operation level, then it can be charged externally or to bypass it to avoid the under voltage problem. BUT, first, as I said, the bad electronic component must be repaired. :-)

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +J raaz Hi! The battery must be 3,7 Volts to turn on the tablet and operate it. If the battery is totally charged, and the tablet doesn't turn on, the first thing component we can accuse is the main switch. But your case is different, because it is totally dead. You have problems in the charging bypass mosfet transistors. Most cases with short circuit capacitors, the tablet will try to turn on, and then goes off. But completely dead, could be an open mosfet transistor. Try to identify them in the charging area, and carefully try to bypass its "Drain" and "Source", to find out in which one turns on the tablet.

      +irawan tham tham Hi! It is a diode. It must be 2 Ampers or higher current. The anode is pointing to the first big capacitor, and katode is pointing to the small capacitor. Don't for get to insulate it! Take a look about how I insulated it with thermal tubing as showed in the last picture at the end of the video. If your table had a bad device, fix it first. Then perform the factory design correction with the diode at the end of the fixing. Thanks by asking for it! :-)

    • @bob.kalpon1398

      +filmy Hi!Play with what you have. Because sometimes we can't get what we wanted. One good advice is to try to remove one of the main diodes from another smartphone or tablet. Because they are low voltage drop, and support high currents. A normal through-hole diode can be too big and also very rigid, and sometimes they can straight up themself and to break the capacitors.

    Something else, what is the capacitance of this capacitor?

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I don't know. I don't have a similar tablet to check it. But most of the time, parallel small capacitors are 0.1 uF, if smallest are parallel to it can be 0.033 and 0.01 uF. They are used next to each chip to suppress the electrical noise. So, you will find the 0.1 uF capacitor next to most chips in all electronics equipment.

    I have a Samsung tab2 , I want to power it through external supply ,i.e., without any battery support, Is it safe to do? if yes could you help me in how to do it.I changed 3 batteries so far,all of them useless now as I forgot to charge them frequently, I am tired of buying new battery. I am planning to use this tablet in my car for entertainment. I got some knowledge in electronics.All I need is good guidance from experts to do it safe. I hope you could help me.

      You will need something like LM317 voltage regulator to regulate to 3.7V. for battery or 5.1V for main power input. Make sure it is well done, and you will need a power transistor with 2 Amps capacity to do not overload the voltage regulator. REMEMBER, the fuse must be close to the battery and no as far as your regulator. (Automotive safety rule). Keep in touch!

      Hi Bob, thanks for your reply.I need bit more clarity .Input to LM317 is car battery?,LM317 parallel connected to power transistor to supply more current? I guess LM317 alone could deliver enough current to tablet,correct me if I am wrong.I need your help in where to connect 5V DC to tablet. We need to bypass tablets battery charging circuit,and need to give the supply to power rail ,could you please give some details regarding this.I may need tablet schematic for this!!.

    my Samsung Tab 2 P3100 switched off automaticallynow it is not turning ON. Even when I plugged in the charger but cannot see any sign of charging on phonewhile charging, its becoming very hot on the charging connector
    I tried unplugging the battery connector and release the power from mother board.
    any help on this?

      @bob.kalpon1398  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sumit Ahuja Hi! There should not be heat in the connector. Two things can be going on there: ONE, there is a problem in the connector on the tablet or in the plug. TWO, there is an electronic device in short circuit in the tablet. In this case, it can be anything in there and must be inspected by a technician. Most cases I saw, there was a capacitor in short circuit. You better bring it to a technician. Also you can copy this youtube link, and give it to him. I am sure that he will find the problem and apply this correction for the factory defect too. Tell him to contact me, and I will give the electric diagrams if it was needed. :-)

      Hola! Cuando las baterías cargan en al 100% 10 minutos y se descargan en cinco, el problema es la batería misma y bebe de ser reemplazada. Intenta probar con otra batería primero.

  • @Santixzzero
    @Santixzzero 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    He descubierto que si desconectas la bateria, y luego desconectas todos los elementos de la placa principal, (Incluyendo la pantalla). Al conectar el usb, comienza a cargar, lo que luego te permite conectar los demas componentes (Cables Flex)

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola! En el minuto 7:16 les explico que desconectar la batería y volverla a conectar, NO es la solución del problema. Porque tarde o temprano, el cliente volverá con la tableta descargada, ya que en algun momento la descargarán de nuevo. El vídeo está basado en como corregir el problema y no hacer como en los malos comercios de servicio de smartphones y tablets, que solo desconectan la batería y la reconectan, transfiriendo el problema de nuevo al cliente y nunca cobraron dinero por una verdadera solución.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I make videos about some things to fix from my clients, and I share the fixings on it. But it is not that I have an specific model of tablet to make a video about. If I get it, I will make a video. But take in consideration that the bad component inside of it, can be different for each tablet, even if they were the same model.

    Funciono, pero ahora siempre deja una x roja en el icono de la bateria, y estando cargando la tablet dice no cargando. aunque el porcentaje de bateri este subiendo. Alguna solución? Existe alguna aplicacion que permita apagar la tablet al llegar al 10% de bateria para no permitir que se descargue por completo?. Gracias.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola! Es difícil saber que pasa desde aquí, sin tener la tableta para revisarla. Es posible que la batería no esté cargando hasta su totalidad.En esa caso, pronto tendrás que cambiar la batería. Te darás cuenta del problema si la batería carga rápido y se descarga en poco tiempo. Otras cosas pueden ser como un cargador defectuoso con menos voltaje, o una pérdida de voltaje interna, lo que posiblemente produzca calentamiento.

    • @bob.kalpon1398
      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +chazzboy Hi! You have the connector's pin out in the diagram. You must use continuity test and voltage meter to find the problem. Remember the input voltage goes to the "capacitor who welcomes the voltage" in the video. But before making it too technical... try with a GOOD magnifying lent to see what happen there with just a visual inspection. Then go with digital multimeter after it. ;-)

      @bob.kalpon1398  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! If you are not a person with knowledge in electronics, then you have to look for a good electronics technician. There is a bad electronic component in there and it most be repaired.
      Electronics requires formal education. There is not a magic instruction to tell. Your tablet has a hardware problem, and there is nothing you can do pressing buttons and making a hard reset. It is time for it to go to the service center. As I told the other guys in the comments: "Take your time, and look for a good technician. Because some Phone and tablets shops, have somebody trained to do exactly what you did, but they don't know electronics, or they don't have electronics laboratory equipment to perform a service, as it is shown in the Service Manual link under the video".
