- Opened in 1779, Halifax Piece Hall was a centre of trade for the area, and has been a feature of the town ever since.
It now stages outdoor concerts and has in the past had the likes of Tom Jones and in 2023 will have Sting, UB40, Rag 'n Bone Man, Madness, The Jacksons & Sister Sledge along with many more.

Looks so different these days.Nice work Nigel.
I came to Halifax in around 76/77 from Ireland i worked in Hillcrest foundry brighouse rd. i only stayed a couple of years then i went back home on Saturdays there was a big market day in the piece hall it was a fantastic atmosphere brings back great memories i loved Halifax of course it's changed. great video.
Great job Nigel 👍🏼
Thanks John 😊
I used to love the old piece hall. There was a great guitar shop
I think I remember that.
It was run by a chap called lez
And he was in a band called fez
It was up on the balcony
The good old days
And I used to have a market stall in the main square before it was concrete.
When I was a child it was a fish market and we went on school trips there from boothtown junior school.
How things have changed
If you visit Go into the library it's New in there and has been built around the large spire which now comes out through a glass roof. It's very cleaver how they have married old and new. It's worth going in just to see the original window.
Search calderdale library opening there's a small photo. there's also the mystery hand prints outside the Westgate entrance
Be aware it's closed every Monday until and including 27 February
What a great place Piece Hall is and good to see you back Nigel.
Thanks, glad to be back, been away due to the bad weather mainly, but family stuff too.
