Yes, if only I'd managed to get some time to play on the Next. Unfortunately he could only make the Saturday and it was far too busy - we were both completely tied up all day 😬
Great overview of the weekend. Really enjoyed playing with the Atari's, the 5200 was a highlight for me to see and have a play with. Was nice to finally meet you and everyone else in person. Still got car wash stuck in my head...
I bought an Atari 400 in high school, about 1981/82. Had a blast with that machine until about 1986 when I traded it for a car. Fast forward to last month when I bought another 1982 Atari 400 with a Basic cartridge! Just ordered Defender. Am looking forward to some retro gaming!
I saw a similar experience at a Sacramento. Ca, USA Amiga show year or two ago. There was a one table of a friend showing his Falcon, and 1040STE at this Amiga show. He received lots of enthusiasm for his exhibits!
Great video and loved that we're all just a bunch of old foggies enjoying retro tech 🙂 I had an Amiga when I was a teenager and there was huge rivalry with the ST back then. I have a whole bunch of stuff now including a couple of Amigas and an Atari XE, and my next will definitely be an ST!
Great montage of the weekend, and nice to chat to you at the show (i was the one backing up a stack of Acorn disks). Hope you didn't put your back out shifting that huge CRT 😅
You should go to Apple meets with the Atari 8-bits to show them what they were missing when they were paying comparative fortunes for Apple IIs. In the US, you'd get laughed out of most any personal computer store if you asked for any Atari software.
It was lovely meeting you during the day and at the after party Rees, your Atari collection was every bit as interesting as the Amiga exhibits. I was in a room at the Premier Inn, looking at the same bar with that open air party going on - not a 50s fest this year but actually some good tunes being played and a big crowed. Will see you around on RMC discord and hopefully see you again at another event - KS03 if not before! Mike / A1200.
Great video and even better to meet you on Saturday! You table was my fave out of them all. I;d never seen a Atar 5200 before - its MAHOOSIVE as you say! The old Atari vs Commodore was a playground thing from the 80's. We're all fully grown men now who realise the many close ties between the two companies. We should've have another Atari stand at least next year I say! The highlight of this video for me was seeing Boat with the Jaguar pad for the ST!?! I had no idea there ever was such a controller and I'd have been all over it if I'd been tipped off about it sooner! I'm so sorry I didn't get to show you my Uzebox Omega up and running! I hadn't brought enough USB PSUs as it turned out so I'd been borrowing a USB port on someones laptop to power my Uzebox's Mega Drive 2 RGB -> HDMI converter cable and without that it wasn't happening unfortunately. I will be going again next year for 40 years of the Amiga and ST!. Whilst watching this video I realise that next year or next time I take my Uzeboxes to a show I should leave another Uzebox open so people can see how few components they use.
Ah, so you're the Uzebox guy! I had spotted it on one of my earlier walkarounds - thanks for grabbing me at the end and talking me through it. I've deliberately left the paperwork on my desk in front of me as a reminder to get in touch when I get 5 minutes. 😁 Good idea on leaving one open so we can see the insides, I'd definitely be interested in seeing that.
You did a good job recording all you did considering how busy you were! Glad you didn’t include some of us singing along to Bon Jovi covers whilst tipsy. Thank goodness for TH-cam copyright threats 🤣
Looks like a fun weekend! It's fascinating to see all this stuff - I kind of lost interest in the Amiga scene as my interest in older / more obscure Commodore stuff grew. I wonder if they'd let me bring my collection of Commodore adding machines and Pong clones next time. 😂
I saw your table as it was the first one as you walk into the room. Had a bit of a shock to see a load of Atari machines. 😀 I never had a problem with Atari ST owners back when I was in school, as everyone had Amiga 500s, so there were no arguments. Or - maybe there were ST owners in school with me, but they would not admit to it!
Excellent vid, no idea how you even found the time to record what you did...... and I didn't realise just how annoying the music from my 'gadget' was 🤣 sorry
I was very appreciative of your other gadget, the stack of Acorn ADFS formatted floppies I backed up only flippin' worked 🎉 Thanks for the advice, was great chatting to yourself and Rees at the show.
For days now TH-cam has been recommending videos to me on how to clean floppies, It's almost like the algorithm predicted I would see this video and your contraption even though not once did I actually search for how to clean floppies heh
The old rivalry between Amiga and ST was probably the original rivalry now I think about it which later became a Nintendo v Sega and these days it is Xbox v Playstation. To be fair the old rivalry was always amusing and now I am much older the ST really was not that bad really but Amiga is better :p Honestly the rivalry between Xbox and Playstation seems to be a lot more vicious than back in the days of Amiga v ST but I guess that was because I was looking through the window with kid glasses given I was probably 10 - 12 then.
Absolutely, it's always been there but in my experience it's always been friendly. So much in common between the two companies and machines and, as I found at the weekend, so many people who have owned both over the years.
Epyx developed the Atari Lynx games using Amiga A2000s. When they went bankrupt Atari had to buy the Amiga development machines. Jaguar 64 bit power on your desk would have blown away the Amiga but I can understand you not wanting to rock the boat
Thank you for your coverage. It's the best I've seen and really captures the essence of the show. My first computer, a 1040STF got scrapped/recycled. I don't miss it. I can play Blue War III (the only ST game that I miss) on the Hatari emulator included on Pandory V3 for THEA500 Mini. It was a spiteful Amiga wannabe from Jack Tramiel in my view, that thrashed the mismarketed A1000. However, come 1987 it did nothing better than the A500 except come out 2 years earlier, had a slightly prettier case, bundled some MIDI ports on the back and came in out around £100 cheaper (that suckered my parents)! It was nice to see a Falcon at the show last year, that was a true competitor to the A1200! I am actually still a little bit sad my parents didn't stretch to an A500 Batman pack in 1988 instead of what we got! Plus Lemmings 2's sound was an abomination on the ST and on a computer famed for being used in the music industry! That really was the last straw! Glad you got to the show and hope you can see as I have that the Amiga won in the end! We've even recently got Final Fight Enhanced, which puts the awful original ST/Amiga ports to shame, especially in view of the ST's awful horizontal scrolling and the lack of Amiga music! Now the Atari 400 and 800 featuring Jay Miner's chips I have a lot of time for!
Comments like that are the worst possible advertisement to anyone who is interested in taking a look at Amiga world. Huh, no wonder PC's won the race 😮
I'm allowed to comment since I was an ST owner. I saved up for Lemmings 2 on the ST with my own pocket money and even completed it on the ST! However, in retrospective it was an abomination and the music cutting out for a sound effect to play on my 1MB machine was unforgivable as was the joystick ports being hidden underneath (mine eventually broke even with a Roboshift as they were so hard to reach)! I have respect for the Atari 400 and 800 (due to Jay's involvement and Star Raiders) and the Lynx developers from the original Hi-Toro Amiga Corp Team (they were not really East Coast Commodore types) were legends! Tramiel was an arse but Commodore was built around him and it didn't work as a business without him sadly! The ST was a miracle of fast development and value for money but it became the substandard target platform which meant the Amiga didn't shine until about 1990 when Team17 and others pushed 1MB only games with no ST ports. I loved Batman The Movie, Gauntlet 2, Rainbow Islands, New Zealand Story, X-Out and Turrican etc but the Amiga did it all better and Canvas was no Deluxe Paint! I stand by my comments.
The ST community now shuns you. Yes, all 5 of us - Hang your head in shame; The dirt won't wash off. Ok, I'll admit, I skipped the vid a bit, but if you didn't point out that the STe version of Bad Apple looks better than either of the amiga versions (ok, the single disk version is impressive) then you can do that next year! :D

Two Rees? Oh God they are multiplying!
Great to see Jon and Chris from This Week in Retro and Richard Faulkner with a Sinclair Spectrum Next!
Yes, if only I'd managed to get some time to play on the Next. Unfortunately he could only make the Saturday and it was far too busy - we were both completely tied up all day 😬

Still got car wash stuck in my head...
Great video. Neat seeing Jon from This Week In Retro!
He did an amazing job of hosting / MCing the entire weekend. Such a character and always a lovely guy to chat with.
While I do love the Amiga, Atari was my first love and it's great seeing you representing!
The Jay Miner connection. Perfect.
That's a band name if I ever heard one.

I heard Rees did in fact demolish the old studio and refilled it Amiga gear. This is green screen
Great video and loved that we're all just a bunch of old foggies enjoying retro tech 🙂

Looks like this was a lot of fun, lot's of familiar faces!
Love the blurring your number plate, but screw those other guys 😂
Ha! Yes, bit of an oversight on my part...
Great video Rees. Annoyed I missed it this, will have to head over next year.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Great video, lovely to see a bit of the event. Really wanted to be there.
Great montage of the weekend, and nice to chat to you at the show (i was the one backing up a stack of Acorn disks). Hope you didn't put your back out shifting that huge CRT 😅
Pauliee played so hard the power went! Looks like such a nice party/meetup! Thanx for the show rapport.
Paulee's set was awesome as always - in fact all of the acts on the Saturday smashed it! (though perhaps not quite as literally as Paulee)
You should go to Apple meets with the Atari 8-bits to show them what they were missing when they were paying comparative fortunes for Apple IIs. In the US, you'd get laughed out of most any personal computer store if you asked for any Atari software.
Nice to meet you and chat to you at Kickstart the other day, great video!
Nice! I really need to go to one of these some day. Looks like so much fun!
Awesome idea and from what I’ve read online really well received. Bravo!
Lovely seeing all those lovely people... and some beans!
Wow, the shopping cart in the video was surprisingly agile and maneuverable. 😊
Good to chat, see the Atari st mate and play some missile command on the 5200 with a hangover lol
How I wish I could attend one of these...

Great vlog, I certainly enjoyed it! Especially as an American, where the Amiga and the Atari ST were nowhere near as popular as they were in the UK.
Great vid rees great to meet you that was me with chris going into the toilet
Great event this aswell really enjoyed it
Bit did you manage to catch Mike Dailly's "lemming" on camera? 🤔
@@ReesRambles ha ha just about yes
You did a good job recording all you did considering how busy you were! Glad you didn’t include some of us singing along to Bon Jovi covers whilst tipsy. Thank goodness for TH-cam copyright threats 🤣
nice to see Wolfenstein ST! :)
Cool vid. I’d be happy enough to see the stuff. The Lynx is the most Amiga anything that exists, that isn’t an actual Amiga.
Looks like a fun weekend! It's fascinating to see all this stuff - I kind of lost interest in the Amiga scene as my interest in older / more obscure Commodore stuff grew. I wonder if they'd let me bring my collection of Commodore adding machines and Pong clones next time. 😂
Don’t forget some games like lotus and populous allowed multiplayer with the right cable, so you could have an ST race against an Amiga in a sense.
Very cool Rees. Was awesome to meet you in the flesh.
Excellent video! It's fair to say the community outreach program was a success.
Yeah, as long as he leaves the STs at home next year and brings a working Falcon instead then all is forgiven! 😉
I saw your table as it was the first one as you walk into the room. We were the ones hiding in the shadows 😅
Ups, you did it again!
good job sir
We see us @13:38 woohoo - fans of Atair and Amiga us :)
Great video! Even better because I'm not in it 😂😂
Brave man to take that to an Amiga show lol
Back in my days he wouldn't have come back home in one piece😉😅
Excellent vid, no idea how you even found the time to record what you did...... and I didn't realise just how annoying the music from my 'gadget' was 🤣 sorry
I'm sure you're very "sorry"
I think he secretly enjoyed it and hopes you make an even louder device for next year :D
@@flibblesan by next year he’ll be begging to be as far away from me as possible 😂 but don’t worry, wireless speakers are great

Rob's music copyright striking your video in 3...2...1 😄
Definitely a deliberate attempt to sabotage me!
I think I saw a fake Australian. Hehehe.... Dang, all kinds of Amiga (and Atari) retro goodness.
At 13:05 right?
@@MarcKloos Yep. ;)
I would love to attend such an event, but my wife would simply kill me. Here in Canada, such events are quite absent.
Rees please come to Cyberlegends 3.0 in September! It's the main Atari event! You gotta come!
Wait, there's a Hooters in Nottingham?
Unfortunately so... 😅
Since 1998. For a long time it was the only Hooters in the UK.
apparently I have also been living under a rock as I did not know they existed here too.

Love the Atari 400/800 and their ilk. Had an ST, hated it. Terrible hardware, horrible OS. Loved my Amiga though :)
