  • An easy fix to try if your E36 develops the common wiper module fault where the wipers will not stop working once the higher speeds have been selected.
    If you feel it necessary to replace the relay at a later stage, or this does not work, the new relay is found using the following part:
    Siemens V23076A1001C133 relay
    An Equivalent relay: ebay.us/shT7cB

    You just helped a fellow Scot over on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada to fix his 2012 BMW X5 E70. Wipers wouldn't stop.
    I removed the relay, cleaned the 5 contacts with a sharp knife and it's as good as new. Just a little bit of corrosion along the edges.
    Didn't have to open up the relay.
    Of course, I ordered a new one.
    Thank you very much.
    Jim

    You’re a bit naughty for not showing how tricky it can be to get those braided copper wires carefully unhooked from the plates, the unnecessarily complicated connector to get the thing off of the loom and out of the car in the first place, and the barbed clips that make sliding the white outer cover off difficult. My relay covers also put up a hell of a fight…..but, I got there in the end and your video really saved me so honestly thanks a million. I’m borrowing an E36 while my car is in the garage for welding and this issue happened on my way home so not a great start. You’re a star for making this mate 👍🏼

    E36 ownership one problem after another! Owned a low mileage 1996 323i coupe for over 5 years up until several years ago,only problems where replacing the exterior bulbs once in a blue moon and that's about it,(even had Nokia speakers which where brillaint.)I now have a 1998 318ti and the rear tailgate wiper will not stop which is incredibly irritating when it happened out of the blue, on a dry sunny day in slow moving traffic.She's a lovely old girl and I'm up for the challange to keep her in full working order......;-)

    I tried this and it seemed to have worked. The soldering broke when trying to remove the covers, so I had to resolder the relays. I also soldered the contact points mentioned to corrode and grinded down a bit to adjust it. The wiper relays work like new after a few tries. If you have the tools I would tackle the job, otherwise buy a new relay box as it requires a bit of skill to do the whole thing. Also be gentle the solders break easy.

    • @ManSeeksCivic

      The diff is great, more than I can say for an aftermarket axle that lasted less than a mile. New second hand axle fitted and all is good in the world.

    • @ManSeeksCivic
      @ManSeeksCivic  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's so easy to replace the relays it's not worth messing around trying to clean up the old contacts. They'll be burnt and pitted so will fail again quickly if you manage to get them working.

    Pamo, just a quick question, will the m52 vanos head fit on the m50nv block? I have gathered all the other parts needed, just needed confirmation on the block. Before I buy the block whether it is the vanos or non vanos version.

    • @ManSeeksCivic
      @ManSeeksCivic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will, that's my setup. There are a few differences, outlined in my video, but it's basically the same block.

    this is what has always annoyed me about bmw vs honda, honda: replace fuse or part and it works again... bmw: yeah we've put a separate computer for that so you'll have to check the window switches, the regulator, the motor, the body control module oh and make sure it's programmed to close properly lol fuck my life! honda: yeah just get a new reg/motor and change the fuse if it's blown! I once had to drive 180 miles to get 2 window regs which then would burn out after going up/down once fitted... guess what it was... the BCM :rolleyes oh and i think i even kept this wiper module as a spare knowing how they love to have multiple computers for everything lol cheers for letting me know what it does. oh and they get people like Siemens to make the electrics - as I told you from working in IT fujitsu, Siemens and acer are beyond shockingly shite, want a brand new laptop and it to overheat within a few months and throttle its cpu power or its keyboard to break... Yeah we got you! it's almost like they've done it deliberately to make money off fixing it when conveniently out of warranty...

    Had this problem for about a year now. Although the wipers stop when they feel like it too and won’t go again until the ignition is switched off and on again!
