      I have been using my seam ripper and pinching on both sides of the leather side and gently sliding found that works pretty well too ♥️

    • @monelleny
      @monelleny 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gypsybarrett4402 - Okay, so I admit to a slight delay in trying my hand at this. I do have one concern. Aren't you afraid that the hat will be too tight if the four pieces measure exactly the same as your head? No allowance there?

    • @gypsybarrett4402
      @gypsybarrett4402 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@monelleny hi! Measured the bottom as 1/4 head size and then added ab 1/4 in seam allowance. Then measured the middle to make top point. Then tapered it down to form the petal shape from there and added seam allowance around there. To be honest my petal shape had a good curve and when I put panels together they ended up being a bit boxy like the panels had a shoulder to em? So I pushed it in a little at shoulder and then flipped and sewed it to lessen the curve. A good way to try out any pattern is to use a scrap fabric to try it first for a mock up. If what you are going to use isn't stretchy then don't use a stretch fabric to make sure it will turn out close to the same. I hear you cutting into fur can be intimidating!! Also the pile ( how fluffy) I think really matters bc I used a rabbit coat and if it had been longer fluffier pile the boxiness may not have been so noticable? Live and learn! After altering abit I think it turned out well! ♥️Good luck!

    Great video and pattern. One tip, before cutting out the fabric, use a glue stick and stick the pattern onto a piece of cardboard, could use a breakfast cereal box, it is then easier to trace around. But you would need to make a separate pattern piece for the lining as you wouldn't be able to fold it back like you did with the paper one. Just an idea.

      It used to be on my old website which is down at the moment.
      I should have copy of the pattern but have no idea where.
      If you think of a football and imagine 5 segments (more flattering with 5 than 4) but they only need go in at 1 end. The other end goes straight and allow enough to fold under to become the facing.
      Not sure that helps. Otherwise this fur hat has an easier pattern th-cam.com/video/YM3i5WEcNVM/w-d-xo.html

    You know tree you could use a lightweight fusible webbing to stabilize that scarf before sewing and it would also help with possible fraying and not add too much weight or bulk. Tell me what you think.

    I'm so glad I found you I REALLY hope you answer! You're so talented and clever!
    I want to make a furry hat like this but instead of round, I want it to have a sort-of animal-eared shape, where it comes to 2 points at the top. Anyway, my question is if I could just cut 2 halves and sew them together, or will I need a more intricate pattern, in order for it to come to the 2 "point" sort of shapes?
    Is this going to be too complicated for a very inexperienced sewer, or is it worth a try?

    • @StitchlessTV
      @StitchlessTV  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lilboh Beat Well if I were you I'd do this pattern but into the seam on each side you could put your mouse ears. You could try it in the the 2D way you suggested but in fur it may not give the shape you are looking for. I have made your version of hat in a knitted wool and because it stretches it worked well in a 2D shape. Feel free to ask any more questions. Tree

    I was trying to see the pattern you said that was on your site and I can't get the site to work?! ,😔I made my own pattern by meticulously looking at yours but mine turned our with like boxy shoulders on the sides of the petal ahhahaha I'm trying to make for Christmas and Im almost out of time. It's also short pile rabbit so it doesn't hide that! I altered it little by little and I think it finally looks good now. Can you send me that pattern on email??? I'd appreciate it ♥️🥰

      Hello, yes....My site has been down for a few months now and need to save up for a new one. Think of the segments of a football but only go in at the top. 5 segments look more ball like than 4 but if I was you, maybe try the Russian style hat tutorial, might be easier to make the pattern.
