Thanks for finding this in the archives. What a great lineup of three country icons - I now need to look up more videos of all three. I wonder what they thought of Derek Jameson. He was a bit rough round the edges compared to Terry but a good laugh all the same.
Kris Kristofferson was a top notch helicopter pilot for the U.S. army, when he left the army and was determined to work with Johnny Cash, Kris hired a helicopter, found his house and landed on Johnny's home lawn and asked to collaborate on music with him.
I remember in the 70s Wogan used to call Billie Jo spears "The Singing Harpoon" when he played her record on his Radio 2 breakfast show. It's good job he was away on holiday that week.
I think jameson does a great job here, yiu can see they relate to him, hes at their level, down to earth, no airs. I dread to think how good old clive anderson wouldve handled this, much as i like him.
He's an idiot. I apologise from another Brit to all other Americans. He was a sub, standing in for the original presenter because he was on vacation, what the hell are the chances of that lol. Having gods like John and kris in the UK was a privilege 👍
I thought off target questions and inconsequential observations started with that idiot Graham Norton. Obviously there was this forerunner. Luckily those great guests were able to rise above such frivolity. Real professionals.
What a dreadful interviewer Jamieson was, obsessed with salacious tattle, like the gutter journalist he was. Great to the Johnny, Kris and Billie getting a laugh out of it anyway!
Jameson is a bit of a wally in this - he has some moments which are good, totally isn't spellbound etc. by these stars. But it's bloody uncomfortable - it feels like Jameson is trying to be Wogan - and horribly failing.
He and Terry Wogan, well their interview techniques are just embarrassing, fawning, not funny, off topic, off target. Johnny Cash’s storytelling about the ostrich sounded like him singing.
