    Ford Figo diesel was one of the best performers. My dad got a Ford Figo diesel from his company and he drove it for almost 150000-200000 kms(he had a job which required him to travel very much). When he retired from the company, he loved the Ford Figo diesel so much because of build quality and riding dynamics and reliability that he bought it again and again drove it for about 100000kms before selling it and buying Hyundai Creta Diesel manual.
    One of my uncle in my family is still using Ford Ecosport and he says that he loves that car because of the driving dynamics and the build quality.
    My dad was sad that Ford left India because he said that Figo and Ecosport were some of the best lineup Ford ever offered.
    It is very unfortunate that Foreign companies like Ford never adapt to the Indian market. Also the taxes are so high that some companies aren’t able to solve this high tax issue without offering sub-par quality cars.

    If I simply simplify ‘Why Ford left India?’ It will go like:
    We Indians failed to recognise good built quality, steering dynamics, immaculate engines, and a near to perfect car when compared to gimmicks offered by other companies; and in this view Ford as a company thought even after offering what’s necessary-to-have features in the cars people are still going towards XYZ brands why care to upgrade our lineup?
    All in all, customers ne zyada gadi nahi li kyuki features nahi they
    Company sochti rehgyi ki market bhade to hum naye features & better vehicles daale.
    We both failed each other equally.

    • @prabhatsourya3883
      @prabhatsourya3883 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, Ford hit their mark correctly with both the Fiesta and Figo. The thing is, they didn't keep up the massive advantage that they gained with them.
      Also, Ford failed to hold up the expectations of their hardcore fans as well. Ford fans said that the Ecosport steering rack felt more like a Hyundai steering rack, with a lesser feel (compared to what Ford would consistently deliver), and a fair amount of twitchiness at the dead-center position at speeds. Both of them unbecoming of a Ford.
      Thus, holding up neither the mass-market appeal, nor the "enthusiast" appeal, Ford began fading away from the market.

    I bought my Ecosport in August 2021 and they left in September. In these 2 years I continued getting my servicing from Ford with no hiccups and when I drive other cars, I feel Ford's aspirational value. There are countless times it has shown its pedigree of ride and handling.
    Talking about where they lacked:
    1. Figo Aspire Freestyle were okayish products
    2. ES needed cosmetic and feature updates
    3. Endeavour should've been from Asian Markets and could use more power
    4. A "C Segment SUV" with the best driving dynamics

Ford should have launched their global cars such as Fiesta Hatchback, Ford Puma, Next Gen Figo, Mahindra backed out of the deal and they were supposed to share platform and chassis & probably engines on which Ford cars were supposed to come. Ford had approached many manufacturers but nothing worked. I feel they should have stayed and brought their international products localised them. Unfortunately they left as their US headquarters took a decision. Sad but true. 💯🤘🏻

    Ford didn't just ignore updates, they degraded ecosport audio system from SYNC 3 to some nonsense with no android auto/ apple carplay without change in price of car. They didn't even provide sync 3 as an option.
    Atleast VW restarted with Virtus and Slavia. Ford never bothered to fit in Indian market and kept pushing their big machines in US and ignored our market.

  • @yoaashay
    @yoaashay 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    A good analysis and case study. Tho I'd like to add that it's not entirely that the customers don't value performance, it's just that it probably wasn't marketed as well to actually make any difference. Ford always marketed their smaller cars like Figo/Aspire, Ecosport, etc as "family cars" and never expanded much on the performance aspect.
    Secondly, performance was just one of the very few USP that the cars offered, along with maybe the structural build quality (way above 5 stars yea?) And not much else that felt "upmarket".
    Features are one thing but what's the point of a "performance" car that looks like it was made in the 2000s? I could just buy a Civic from 08 for less price and still end up with more features and conveniences, so what did something like the Figo offer that its rivals didn't?
    Another reason could probably also be that they never bothered to expand their lineup, probably because of the huge losses they were suffering from, and relied too much on the following that the Ecosport and Figo created. Remember the Fiesta sedan from 2014? Yea that was a thing and who knows why they killed it off. Mustang, the iconic, world renowned pony car? Yes let's offer that with just an auto because why bother offering the gearbox that most people prefer in it right? Never bothered with the Fusion/Mondeo when the D segment was thriving.
    Tax structures in our market were probably also another nail in the coffin but if their losses were the biggest reason, then perhaps their demise was set way before we even noticed.

In 2017 my titanium came with 6 air bags, hill hold assist, Traction control, infotainment system although not touch enabled but a quick after market does the job and let’s not forget driving capabilities compared to other cars.
    I will never sell it, it still operates like brand new and maintenance is cheaper than my Hyundai Verna
