I wanted to point out that, even though its very feel good, well executed and it ends up working out for Kosei, I honestly think the way Kaori acts consdering SHE KNOWS what kind of trauma he is going through is very ignorant. This is anime and it works but god forbid do NOT do this to anyone irl. When someone has suffered severe childhood trauma and remembers that childhood when hes playing the piano, FORCING HIM TO PLAY THE PIANO is never the approach you wanna go for. (Even though i guess she did kindly ask at the end and the whole piano paper sheet pranks were done by the other girl)
Not really, there is no *one* solution for getting over trauma, different people deal with trauma in different ways. Also, not all people have access to medical and professional therapy. Sometimes, forcing someone to face their own demons is the only way forward. In this case, it's friends dealing with each other and there was no ill intent from what was done so there is no problem there. People in the west these days are so spoiled with options that they tip toe over such issues like it's gonna kill the person in question. If i have a trauma from playing piano, being pushed to play piano won't kill me. It's not like someone afraid of heights being shoved into a plane and taken on a skydive. There is a way and a manner for things to be approached. I have worked with traumatized children from war-torn countries and those children don't have the luxury to sit around and wait for someone to figure out their problems and being decisive in helping them deal with the shit they have seen is the only way they can survive, especially when people like me have limited resources, time and funding. We can't care for them all and we can't take responsibility for them. Additionally, children are smart. When you try to tip toe around their issues and be considerate, even if you mean well, they will know and they you can be sure they will shut down even further. Finally, i know that you mean well with your comment, I just wanted to say that there is no 'one way' to solve psychological trauma. It take a mix of time, effort and initiative.
One of my favorite things about the show is how Kaori *doesn't* handle everything perfectly, even though she is portrayed as perfect a lot of the time (since it's from Kousei's perspective.)

At one point I was actually almost over my fear, but since my parents decided to let our dog run around without much supervision on steep paths, partly to show to me that it can run around without falling, so I should be able to aswell, I can't enjoy hiking like I used to for the past 12 years. I can't think about anything else now.

I started watching this show when u guys did ( I'm at ep.18 atm) What I really liked about having watched this recently is..that i understand both Jacob and Caleb's reaction. I reacted pretty much the same way as caleb when watching this episode. I came to the same conclusions. But because i already watched it..I enjoy Jacob his smirk face when he is trying not to spoil anything.

That's really hard to do because YLIA full episodes cannot really be found on TH-cam. Most synchronization websites only allow TH-cam videos to be played at the same time. Another synchronization site would have to be found or made that allows you to upload your own videos or use videos from other websites that have the full YLIA episodes to make it work.

Im rewatching this with you guys to see if I connect with Kaori this time around, because to me, she is the only reason why I cant say I love this to death like I can say about, Anohana perhaps. Dont know if this will make any sense but I could see the writting for her, she didnt feel as real to me as literally every other characters. Of course shes not a real person and obviously a written character but everyone just felt like they existed, they had real pain, happiness, goals etc. Her, not so much. She had her moments, she got me emotional but, maybe it was the feelings everything else was giving me, anyways, I felt that her emotional moments were too shoved up on my face and I hate when something is basically screaming at me, WANTING to make me feel something at all costs! I know everyone adores her, so maybe, yall can shed a light on why is that, idk anyone who has seen this to have an actual convo about it, so yeah :3

Like, i was reading this manga where one character didn't have a name, plot, goals and would even fly around, even tho there is no magic powers. It was a metaphore-character, intentionally made unrealistic and with clear gaps in what we expect from a real human, so we could focus on what they are bringing to the story. Kaori is somewhat that. She is seen from kousei perspective, but not exclusively from his eyes, since we watchers have acess to more information. The way Kaori feels artificial sounds to me more like an alert "this show is not about her, its about kousei, and music" and also put emphasis in how much of an romanticized idea kousei made of her

Did you tried to put mirror view from time to time? like after 3-5 min change the view but let the subtitles and maybe some watermark on that? I've seen that some react channels do that and it works
I actually MUCH prefer this manner of reacting - we get a full reaction of the entire episode, rather than a chopped-up bastardized version. Also, I'm set up perfectly for reactions like this - I have dual 27" monitors on my computer, so I put the anime video full-screen on one monitor and the reaction video full-screen on the other... so nice! Although, I do like reaction videos that instead of using a counter they display just the bottom portion of the video with the subtitles, which helps the viewer sync up the two videos better if we have to stop them in the middle somewhere for an interruption. This method seems to be a fairly popular way of doing reaction videos now...
