Bro! Whoever TF this is is a human machine. I'm I'm not sure to feel impressed or if I should feel bad for the amount of time spent obsessing about this game.
I got 670,00 on map 1 using donuts. industrial all around the outer + all industrial on the island on the right. A row all around of commercial next to the industrial and then all residential with the space left. In the middle of map use donuts of 4 residential and 4 commercial. All done with no cheats on a Snes in the 90's. Involved leaving on over night quite a bit. Tried recently on my DreamSnes for the Dreamcast and can only get 588,000. I still love this game and hours seem to fly by. In my top 10 of all time!!
I never knew that it was a bug (that had any effect on your city) when you load a saved game and crime goes out of control and you have no power, I thought it was just part of the game's start up process.
I'm glad I had this version instead of PC/Mac one (now called simcity classic) this had so much more, and a lot of the things in it were incorporated into SC2K.

48:34 What? 599,480 people? 48% complain about pollution? 45% complain about crime? 1 school? 1 hospital? 0% roads??? YOU DID CHEAT YOU JUST GOT THOSE NUMBERS FROM DETROIT
You don't need schools or hospitals in the SNES version. It's better to just bulldoze them or they take up a residential lot that can be used for houses because they don't do anything except unlock gift lots. Roads are also a waste, they create pollution and traffic. Just build all train tracks and you get no pollution or traffic problems. The population will complain about pollution from the industrial areas but it won't actually effect growth unless the pollution spills onto the residential lots. It has a smaller effect on commercial properties, which is why he built a barrier of commercial buildings around the residential center.
The key to increasing population is to bulldoze all the schools and hospitals. It's a bug in the game. It's like how you can put one piece of track in front of a block and it gives full access.
If I live in the east side of the map, and I got a job at the west side of the map, it'll take me 5 years to get there and 5 years to return home. I'll be like, "am I home yet?" and my wife will be like, "why aren't you home yet? Are you with another woman?"

It isn't one of the 1000, but rather, you have to beat all the scenarios (a different mode in the game) to unlock the special freestyle scenario that has a big Mario face made out of forest in the middle.
Great one! You can do this in the San Francisco; Bern; Tokyo; Detroit; Boston; Rio and Las Vegas scenarios reaching the 500,000 population, except the Boston one whatever maximum population you can do even if Boston reaches a little more than 400,000 SimCity citizens.
It is SUPER easy when it's a Tool Assisted Speedrun. They just push one button and let it go. Dumb as fuck. Doubt he could ever do this on his own without using what the tool does.
There's no such thing as a "tool" to generate a speedrun without player input, somebody has to actually write in the keypresses to be performed in the first place... Even if they play frame-by-frame.
This was one great TAS having so many people so fast Imagine doing this without the infinite money cheat? :O I wonder... XD Also, the city have so much crime I'm sure than pretty much 97% of these industries produce drugs and mass destruction weapon. lol
Hey, is it true that the Mayor's house grows as your city does? I seem to remember that from when I played the game way back when...if so it would be so cool to see.
This sounds so freaking much like the music from Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time) but Google tells me it's not the person who did the music for Illusion of Gaia
Me, and my sister would spend hours on this game. It's almost like building with Legos, or something, except you actually have to manage your town, and try to make people happy. One wrong placed object could come back to haunt you later, giving it a bit of a puzzle aspect to.
So at @21:25 , I see two residential zones that appear to be...... slums? I've always seriously wondered why that happens... why do all the other buildings look built, but those two spots are slums?? Or is that what they actually are? I wish there were somewhere I could read up on why this happens, or if anyone knows and they could tell me.
Maybe because of their level? With the magnifying glass you can see the building's rank and rating or something like that, maybe that's the lowest like "R-1" + "low" or do you mean why it didn't develop above this level?
Though I have reached Megalopolis, never seen that dancing mayors thing. Though amusingly, this is sort of like China, tons of people with almost all industry.
47:16 That is definitely cool, i've never seen that message or heard that music before. Is there a special criteria that needs to be fulfilled in order for that to appear?
I don't know how it is for this game but in Sim City 2000 you need about a coal plant for every 15,000 population. I think a coal plant is 400 megawatt. Then it would be 400 megawatt for every 15,000 population. I wonder how big you can get a city population without launch ecologies. For 600,000 population that would be 40 coal plants. I think a launch ecology can have 150,000 population in each one and takes 9 spaces. I don't know the tile size of the Sim City map, but Sim City 2000 is 256 X 256 which is 65,536 tiles. I could be wrong about that. If Sim City is the same you could put in 7281 launch ecologies which would give you 1,092,150,000 population. I think once you put down 350 launch ecologies they take off into outerspace and the game is over, it's like that in Sim City 2000. With launch ecologies you just need to hook up an electrical source, but I don't think they require any additional coal plants or megawatts than what is already there so you don't need to put in any more coal plants or other megawatt sources when you put in all of those launch ecologies. 350 launch ecologies would give you 52,500,000 population. You can replace most of your cities with launch ecologies. You might still need police, hospitals, monuments, and some power stations but not that many. By that time you can switch to hydrogen plants, or a fusion plant depending which the game uses.
Everything was going normal till it did its taxes at 3:25 then laid down a few more railroad tracks... suddenly about 9mil dollars wtf? XD bug abuse? Or did it just cheat for more cash? Im confused
Imagine how San Francisco, Tokyo, Bern, Detroit, Boston, Rio, and Las Vegas all became Megalopolis cities greater than 5 million citizens. Tokyo only has almost 14 million citizens in real life as if its metro area almost 40 million citizens.
It's a known cheat in the game. By the time you have no cash, you can glitch the game to give you max funds. There are videos around TH-cam that show this off, it's the same trick here.
Yes definitely, but you can only have 4 gift at the same time, and we have a train station and 3 police HQ, so we won't get it until we use some of the gift we already have.
I made cities bigger than this, I was close to a million but never got the statue or honor by citizens, I use donougts blocks because gifts can be placed in middle and that helps population
my mistake, I use to only get a little over 100,000 but recently I stopped using donut blocks and easily made it to 250,000, The key is to make plenty of industrial plants!! just keep them away from residential zones, you're going to always have pollution warnings but don't let that stop you from building industrial zones!!! and bulldoze schools and hospitals, and replace fire stations after you get several headquarters.
jurnagin yeah Jurnagin your right actually 1 million people is possible. spent from 1996 to 1999 trying to get 500,000 people on a Island in this game. in 1996 my black freind Shawndel came over and was wonder what i was doing or playing and he could not get it. i was using fire to burn up buildings in order to cram in more people. but then that city got erased some how. but around New years eve 1998 i finanly succeeded in gettin 500,000 people on a Island. all though high school i kept drawing pictures of my sim city on the backs of my home work papers. jurnagin Donuts never worked for me, even if filled the whole city up with them (except industrial zones) but I see from this video you need a lot of industrial zones, something I didn't know, and with so many wouldn't you get the smog warning message all the time?
Why didn't you put the game on cheetah speed. You have to wait over a century for launch ecologies and either hydrogen plants or fusion plants depending on what the game offers.
