SESSION 3 | PRELIMINARY DIMENSIONING OF ABUTMENT COMPONENT | DESIGN OF WALL-ABUTMENT AS PER IRC CODE

This session is 3rd in the series and describes how we can determine the . preliminary dimensioning of the abutment components using the levels computed and finalized in the previous session. This session describes the component size and its dimensioning in detail. The session begins with the dimensioning of abutment cap, its tapered portion, its height. Subsequently, the dimensions of pedestals, seismic arrestors, return wall, stem thickness etc. is also discussed.
This episode is developed from a recorded session extracted from a recent course which was taken by curious engineers.
To enlighten young, dynamic and upcoming civil/bridge engineers, the same has been shared with the TH-cam family in an effort to produce passionate future engineers.
