    though I had some problem with sea water It also th-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

    Hey there Lucky Gin! Thanks for taking us along on your MD trip! One small tip I'd like to give you, is to always k specific to beach hunting is to keep your detector ground balanced. The dry sand vs the packed wet sand can really give you totally different target VDIs. (You may have already known this.) I LOVE your enthusiasm for the hobby and the genuine smile! Keep up the good work!

    Nice job and now I see you do have a scoop. The positive I get from this video is you found two nickels. The rule of thumb is if your finding nickels … you’ll find gold rings. They come up the same. I found at least 10 of those Euro coins on the beaches up here in CT.

    • @LuckyGin
      @LuckyGin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. ❤️ The only downside I’ve found so far with the makro gold kruzer is that you can’t use it in the saltwater. As soon as it touches the actual water it overloads. Works great in freshwater though, and it did fine on the wet sand.

  • @NYGladiator

    Looks like you had fun. Just a suggestion, but if you find a sand scoop half that size you will be able to dig without having to lower your detector to the sand. Also, if you ever detect in the shallow water you won’t be able to put the detector down, so getting used to dig holding both the scoop and detector will make life easier. Good hunting!

    • @LuckyGin
      @LuckyGin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brian, thanks for stopping by my channel. You know, I looked long and hard at those sand scoops where the handle is half the length but I didn’t see anybody else on TH-cam using them. I thought maybe everybody used the tall ones for the leverage, and there was something about the smaller ones they don’t like. Do you use the smaller version and have good luck with it?

    • @NYGladiator
      @NYGladiator 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LuckyGin I would suggest finding a retail store if possible that sells scoops so you can see what style feels right for you. A smaller basket is what you might want.

    When all the sand has been washed off the beach it might be 5 to 15 feet deeper that's when you find the old stuff always look for this after a big storm in the area your area you could find a fortune maybe even some pirate treasure gold saloons or treasure from the lost fleet or Spanish galloens.

    • @LuckyGin

      Hi Adrian, metal detecting can definitely be good exercise because you do lots of walking. I'm often sore after a long day of detecting. What was your setting? When I go to the beach it is real jumpy, especially in the wet sand or water.

    • @LuckyGin
      @LuckyGin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dj, I had ground balance at zero, gain at 85, and Imask at 5. It worked fine on wet sand, but definitely couldn’t touch salt water. I’m going to need another machine for salt water hunts.

    Sooner or latter out in the water when you learn the proper scoop TechNet you will find more jewelry than on the beach their is an art to it though after a storm when you see mud is the time you should make time.

      This was my first time at the beach and using the sand scoop. When I got home I’ve ordered a smaller one that I think might be easier to use. (I hope). Once it arrives I’ll have to plan my next beach trip and try again. 🙂

    Good hunt, nice finds. That Euro was totally cool. Please get you a pair of gloves when spreading the sand. You will find lead weights, lures and hooks that will hurt if you really get them stuck, not to mention the tetanus shot. GL& HH.

    IMPORTANT to note that metal detecting on The Outer Banks of NC is very illegal. I know this because I am from outside Asheville, and I normally go to The Outer Banks each year. I am hoping the lighthouse I saw in the background wasn't one on The Outer Banks. :)
    All of The Outer Banks from the main turnoff going towards Rodanthe, Avon, etc. is considered National Seashore. The Park Rangers can fine the heck out of you and take your metal detector to boot. The shoreline north of the main turnoff like you are going towards Kitty Hawk is reportedly safe to search.
    Some years back I and my late dad were on the ferry going to Ocracoke. I was saying how I thought it was stupid that no metal detecting was allowed and that any treasure found on the National Seashore had to be turned over even if you found it in the surf with the naked eye. It turns out I and my dad were talking to an off-season National Park Ranger. He laughed and said he agreed. He then told us that the past summer a little girl had found a gold Spanish coin in the surf and everybody on the beach soon knew about it. He said he hated to be the mean person to take it from her, but he was required to by law. It did go to Chapen Hill though for cataloging.

      Hi Ken, not to worry - this wasn’t the outer banks. I haven’t made it there yet, but it’s high on my list to visit. I’m hoping to get there sometime this year if I’m lucky.

      The gold will happen unexpectedly. Had my Nox on high settings the other day, was banging out silvers then a 14k gold ring with a strapped silver band around it popped out thinking I was digging a Merc....
