Great review as always! I have 4 new DR10L Pro recorders which I have used on a few shoots. The night before using them I format the cards, add new or charged batteries (eneloop Pro) and set the date and time. When I get to the shoot and turn them on they ask for date and time. If I use them and then turn them off and later in the day turn them on again they want the date and time again? I'm usually in a hurry so I just press enter a few time to get rid of it. Is this normal?

That’s not normal. Mine don’t ask for new date and time with every battery change. There’s a firmware update, I would try updating and see if that fixes it.

@@whoismatt can you please do a short video on how to update the firmware? It seems to be very confusing in their instructions on firmware update on Tascam's website; thank you.

I have fresh batteries, and it seems whenever I leave the DR10L Pro inactive for a couple days, it completely resets all of the settings. I don't ever remove the batteries, but I end up finding myself re-doing the date/time frequently, and it's very annoying. Any thoughts?

try connecting it for a while to a usb-c powercharger, which should charge the internal battery

I have 4 of the original Tascam. I do use the low pass filter outside. It makes a huge difference, along with my Rycote windmuff.

I am discovering this Tascam with you. It seems very nice. I'm curious about how the timecode works in a multicam environment because I need this function.
I wanted to buy the Deity Pr-2 and beed waiting since the announcement. It was supposed to be released in November but I contacted them and they told me they're not even sure about a 2024 release because of some setbacks.

Matt.. Have you looked into the Zoom R4 for weddings? I might get it for live performances plus I would use it for my music. I'm curious how it well it would work for a wedding, being plugged into the sound board. It's new, 32 bit float, $200

I had extreme clipping happen because my record level was set to high-mid - yes 32-bit float gives you latitude, but you can still shoot past the capabilities of the recorder and its pre-amp to get un-savable peaked and distorted audio. Please tell me if I’m missing something here!

File number could be used to give each recorder a unique ID number when downloading all the files.

Only thing I think I wish it had, unless I missed it, is the ability to charge the rechargeable batteries through usb.... That would just be a cherry on top! As it is, having 2 sets of batteries isn't that bit a deal.

I mean, yeah... but also it's nice to know why to not touch them. He isn't just saying "don't touch anything" but explaining when you would change them but why you likely won't have to.

Hello from Sicily, has anyone tried to record audio from line-out of a mixing board? It shouldn't be a problem, at least from a 10db output or + maybe even from a 4dBu, due 32 bit float recording which is always recoverable in post when it is saturated. With his latitude this 32 bit float recorder could be used as very light and cheaper alternative to his big brothers as zoom f3. Moreover it cold be used as lavalier if necessary in the same event.
