ALZRC Devil R42 RC Helicopter/ Quick open box and build review Part 1

- In todays video, one of my fellow club members and friend Nick, has kindly allowed me to do and unboxing video and followed up by a quick build review of his recently acquired ALZRC Devil R42.
This is a brand new kit that has only become available in the last month and is another example on how to enter into the world of RC Helicopters on a budget but also still buying brand new.
We will have a look at what you get in the box and then Nick will build the model while being videoed for the channel for you too see. Most of the build is in time lapse to save time but it still gives you an idea as too what is involved in this build.

The build went well, with just a final FBL install and cable management required before it’s handed over to RC Helicopter Richard for a test flight

Great video! I just assembled mine yesterday without any reference there was a few misses and glitches but other than that it went smoothly
I am waiting for servos and motor, I will use the Goosky servo, their Bluetooth setup seems to be a breeze.

No DD Motor and an alternative
A very interesting video! Thank you for that. Which esc did you use? How much does the helicopter weigh without the battery? I'm looking forward to more videos about this helicopter.
It was a Hobbywing 80amp. Not sure about the weight without but will hopefully have another video up on this model this weekend
I’ve used a Scorpion 80A 😉, paired with a Egodrift 3220HS 960kv motor. The manual says it’s 1170g without the battery (but that will probably depend on the actual electrics used).
This heli is not a clone of the SAB. All helicopters share common design to an extent. ALZRC makes some really high quality helicopters. The Devil 380 I had was actually better made and higher quality than the SAB counter. Great vid ! I want one of tese, but at the moment it seems replacement parts are a bit hard to come by here in the USA.
It’s a very nice high end quality model. All carbon fibre and fibre glass canopy, it really is a class helicopter. Thank you for your comment and for supporting

I think so too. For a model that’s available for nearly half the price of the named kits these days it’s a well built model and think it will fly awesome
Got mine…. Built it like a Captain and waitin‘ for Servos and all the Electronics…. RAW pleasure this Build…. RAW pleasure… easy Like fixing a Nano s3 Blade swap… (up to now… the golden Part comes yet…)
My ALZRC are the nicest flying heli's I have, my 420 devil is the finest flyer ever just like on rails and very fast my 505 is a great flyer also

Went through this First flight too… and to all calling us out for clones… THIS CHOPPER HERE encourages me to take the plunge into a SAB RAW 700 piuma Build in the coming Winter. I have a rex 450 clone too and i got the Demo Versions of Both…. I will to sab. It‘s so simple and uncomplicated. This alzrc Kit does it’s purpose. Luring beginners like me into the raw World. SWMBO already dictated me to hold back on the 700‘s yet…. I Said „YET, next Christmas will come by the way“

For a newbie this and Tarot450pro are a decision aid to get the 700 (who says he doesnt want one is a Liar 😂😜) that suits more…. I got pulled to the raw line.

I’d put a koala k bar on there, then you’d really get the negative feedback about clones!
At the end of the day it’s just another RC model helicopter. If the anti clone brigade wanna shoot off about it then so be it. They don’t have to watch the video, they can continue to spend hundreds on spares or the cost of a new model if that’s how they want too go, but end of the day I cover all aspects of rc helicopter no matter what the make!

This model is fitted and flown on Mikado systems so has a VBar Neo flybarless system
Thank you for the video and info about the new heli, my question is does the motor shaft size matter? does it has to be 5mm or less? On ALZRC web does not suggest type motor, it only state the size, thank you.
The motor shaft needs to be 5mm. ALZRC does have their own motor that they recommend 😉

Its looks similar to the 420 but it’s not Direct drive so it’s kinda a clone but not really! Still not everyone can afford the name brand stuff so each to there own I guess

The motor is an EGoDrift 3022HS 960kV, the three cyclic servos are GDW DS290MG and tail is a GDW DS595MG

First off , if you crash it how will you fix it ? Buy another 300 helicopter. So after the first crash it would have been cheaper to buy a good one lol.
Second off how can you get an fbl to operate that backwards swash. Good luck mate
Firstly when it crashes , you can repair it with the spares available, secondly, you can’t of been flying rc helicopters very long if you’ve not seen a swash plate with the the elevator the other way round 😂😂😂😂😂
First Off, there are spare parts available, thats how I will fix it if/when needed ;-)
Secondly, the swash isn't backwards, it has the standard HR3 layout, I think what is throwing you out is the fact that the anti rotation guide is at the front not the rear. Most if not all FBL's have the option to set which type of swash plate is being used, so thats a moot point.

Third off lol ..I’m helinoob my bad for a noob comment. This helicopter screams junk lol. My bad I was thrown off on the horrible looking thing. Waiting to see what Richard thinks but can’t be good . Main shaft looked hollow lol.
No problems, everyone was a noob once.
Yes the mainshaft is hollow, as is the one on the SAB Raw420, and many other RC helicopters use a hollow mainshaft. A hollow shaft is actually stronger than a solid shaft of the same size ;-)
From your comment, I take it you don't like the Raw 420 either as they look almost identical (and yes, it has been compared to a fellow club members Raw 420 and the quality is identical).

@@Loophole120 seems too me like Nick said your just trolling and to be fair you cannot judge something on how it looks just by watching a video and say something like that until you have seen it first hand, also Rich has already stated about how good the quality is of the model and thinks it will be a great flying model. I'm curious too see how long it will be before heli pilots flying the Raw 420 use the ALZRC spares for the Raw when they crash it because of how good value the price of spares are compared to the price of the over priced SAB parts.

hi, could you use goosky rs4 venom ESC SERVOS & FBL unit on this model.
Servos and ESC “should” work.
I’m not familiar with the goosky fbl so I can’t so whether it could be used or not.

i will use Goosky FBL as well
Goosky RS4 FBL can't reverse servo direction.
so, unless this heli has the same servo orientation as Goosky RS4, it would not work.
@@davidjacobs8558 it can be done with latest firmware. I flew my R42 with Goosky FBL
