I would argue every single legacy character that came as dlc was balanced in tekken 7 they only really messed up the new ones. Is going to be the same here, but thats normal i guess, designing a whole new character is insane in tekken, its forgivable imo, but launch leroy was the only one, that was outright broken on purpose and i hope they do not do that again,
I feel like there's a thematic element to the design of Heihachi. Reina is younger, smaller and more athletic. So she's faster, evasive and overwhelming inheriting Tekken 7 Hei's bulldog playstyle with the focus on jabs, pokes and then stance mixups. Heihachi is older and wiser (also got a fist to the chest). He's gotten slower but also powered up and is stronger. You have to be patient with punishment and his just frame charge moves. He trades his original rushdown for very strong combo damage and warrior instinct.
Yeah, I think at least is 11 could still be -2 or 3 and be fine with his new design. His df1 has many mind games off it that makes it alright still but 11 being -5 kinda sucks.
@@Guil_P I guess this is only especially a threat at the wall but for all intents and purposes, it's not a scary option most the time seeing as it's launch punishable. Even the reward for a wallsplat is scaled damage, tho hei still does a lot regardless.
I'm honestly pretty overjoyed they shifted his moves and playstyle. Reina reminds me of old hei from the previous games but the hei we have now honestly feels like a remix of the two which i love cause id hate to pay for the same character ive played for years. Change can be good lol
@@Ace-of-spade I main him in tekken 7 and I completely disagree... FF2 of heihachi makes everything easier in tekken 7. In Tekken 8, yeah I dunno about you but he's so easy to sidestep to the point I don't bother use other moves but just sidestep punish him...
Very good breakdown agreed with most of the things mentioned. Did want to add that from thunder stance if in heat and you use the d3 option you can press 2 to do the heat version for extra dmg should they duck and seeing as guard break and hellsweeps come from it then that’s very likely unless they just straight up interrupt your attacks.
One thing missing, is that he has an auto parry in heat. Very useful to use to close rounds or stop people from mashing when going into his stance from f3 or f4. I also love to do ws4,4 into stance. Hits people every time.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't give him another beefy low or a low poke, considering how they keep changing every character's archetype and making them all-rounders. But I guess they just gave him a stance game
Been a Hwoa main forever and I'm having more fun with Hei at the moment too! Not sure if he's a bit overtuned due to DLC syndrome, but either way the design has been done really well.
Another thing I think makes heihachi hard is the fact that even if you have amazing timing with him if you can’t electric it feels like just having timing is not anywhere near enough to make him work he needs everything from the player to really make him shine
@@myriadheartss no one else on the cast requires everything from the player to make the character shine? Legitimate teaching opportunity for the slow Tekken casual.
I honestly think he would be a much better character if he was more solid outside of Warrior's Instinct and as compensation, WI is nerfed. It feels like they made him weaker in normal state for the sake of him having a potential 75-25 chance of winning your Instinct round which makes the character feel so incomplete in design. I would rather the gimmick not exist entirely and instead get a complete, solid package personally but it is what it is. At times I wonder how much I enjoy this Heihachi even because he is so dramatically different than T7 Heihachi. The execution and punishment or combo freedom (carry + damage) feels great but the lack of neutral freedom (easily steppable and committal pokes) feels awful.
the evasion heat move could be use for a get out jail free card when you are running out of heat from the start n not plus in the neutral but yea it looks useless other than that
