I love cats and have terrible allergies, so I want to be able to like this idea really bad, but what I know about human medicine and zoology is making me hesitant. What are the chances that they produce this protein in both their saliva and skin oils, and not just a little, and it’s just there for absolutely no reason? We don’t know what it’s supposed to do, but we theorize it’s a binder to transport things like hormones and steroids similar to a protein found in mice. Hypoallergenic cats are bred to produce less of these proteins, but they have never successfully removed all of them, and my lack of knowledge on why is increasing my hesitancy. Idk, I think we need to put our effort into developing a way to fix the current issues with human allergy medication instead of trying to fix it with a creature’s system who can’t possibly tell us if they start getting headaches, or feel weird as hell, or anything else. Our ability to tell if it’s all safe for animals is the tests we think of to run and general observation. Knowing that both cats and dogs largely put in tons of effort to function as normal as possible when they feel sick or in pain, it’s not a good way to judge if something truly has no side effects. I mean, every medicine humans have have weird side effects like dry mouth, light sensitivity, funny feelings, etc, and those are ones we developed with being able to ask the taker questions. I just would not feel good giving medicine to a pet of mine when it’s not strictly about their health, especially when we don’t know what the protein actually does in feline systems. @teresaellis7062 Hens are bred to lay eggs so often that the process leeches minerals from their bones resulting in debilitating conditions that cause them daily agony. Half of the chicks hatched into the egg industry are male, and since they don’t lay eggs, billions of them are killed each year via macerator or gas chamber. The egg laying hens only produce eggs cost effectively for a few short months, after which they are also killed. The egg industry is horrifically violent and abusive.

Sooooooo i used be extremely allergic to cats and dogs but after being around cats and dogs from friends for 7+ years I stopped being allergic 😅 Lucky me! I have lots of kitties now
That explains why my allergies to cats doesn’t bother me. I have cats, I had chickens up until recently, and I will again someday. The cats and the chickens were exposed to each other, in fact, one of my cats love to sleep in the chicken coop. I do miss those wonderful legs.
As a person with strong cat allergies, I found out that having a cat completely desensitized me. I have adopted a lovely cat, and after the first one-two months I became completely allergy free (towards all cats, not just mine). I tried to look at research about this topic but it's practically non existent. It would be so cool to read a study on spontaneous allergy reduction simply by "natural" exposure to the lovely felines.

It's crazy how expensive anti-allergy cat food is though. It's like twice or three times the cost of the regular stuff, with almost identical ingredients.
My question is, what exactly is this protein, what does it do for the cat, because say this is a special protein that we don't know of it being special now, it could cause un needed harm. I'm very curious on the science behind it and how it will shape the evolution of cats.
The antibodies would be digested in the cat s gut because antibodies are proteins, and they would never reach the cat allergens to be able to neutralise them (given that the eggs are eaten raw by the cat)
That's actually really cool and doesn't sound too complicated to incorporate into cat food.

It’s not just eggs. It’s eggs from chickens exposed to cats. So it’s not something that automatically shows up on an ingredient list
I'm moving in with friends who have chickens. I have cats. One of them has a cat allergy. Plan is to have supervised cat-chicken social time here & there and feed some of the eggs to my cats to get them to stop producing Fel-d 1.

Now if only tnose chickens could fix my hayfever 😂
Honey might.
@@thelordcomanderwhocriedwolf ^ yep, buy Local wildflower honey. PubMed study said it takes 8 weeks to work, start before the season. 1g/kg body weight. 1TB=20g. Don't stop meds.
So crazy thing, my best friend is highly allergic to cats but my cat has never bothered her when almost all others do. I bet this is why!!
Wow thats nuts. Love ya hank
For anyone wondering, purina has a version of this food, I buy it on chewy
I admire you!!!
All without harming your little fluffy kitty✨
Meanwhile that hen wondering where tf its egg went: 😥
My hens ignore their eggs after they lay them, unless they are broody. They are more like, "Glad that is done with today."
@teresaellis7062
Hens are bred to lay eggs so often that the process leeches minerals from their bones resulting in debilitating conditions that cause them daily agony.
Dated a girl with 2 cats who i feel in love with (the cats) let me tell you that 70 bucks for a 16lb bag of cat food was worth every penny. It's not 100% but id only be a little sniffly after having a cat sleep on my chest which is better than damn near dying just being around them
Hank congrats on beating cancer
This is the best chicken thing aside from eggs and picnics.
We use this food and it’s made a huge difference
Sooooooo i used be extremely allergic to cats and dogs but after being around cats and dogs from friends for 7+ years I stopped being allergic 😅 Lucky me! I have lots of kitties now
Lucky! My allergies got worse. 😥
This is very good to know. We have chickens at home, as well as a cat I am allergic to, though I have been mostly immunized to her. 😊
I saw the advertising for the food and wondered how it works. Very cool!
Side note: egg yolk is also really good for their coats at well. Keeps them shiny and soft
I am a cat fosterer and can confirm that those cat foods have very good success rates
This is relatively more simple than the Cats vs Dogs movie would have you think.
Finally something that can be easily implemented in the real world 😊
🤯🤯 this is amazing!!
Thank you. Vital info
I'll gladly suffer through a prolonged allergy sneeze attack for my cats lol
That explains why my allergies to cats doesn’t bother me. I have cats, I had chickens up until recently, and I will again someday. The cats and the chickens were exposed to each other, in fact, one of my cats love to sleep in the chicken coop. I do miss those wonderful legs.
woh! that sounds like literal magic!
Cats making themselves impossible to be rejected by any means, not even allergies
Wow, that video was a wild ride.
Yes! And on top of that, some breeds produce less of the protein in the first place.
at first I was like "well this is a crap deal" cause I live on a farm with both chickens and cats, but am still allergic to cats. But yeah, we don't let the cats eat our eggs. darns.
I think your cats just lucked out big time in the treat department! 😋
@@teresaellis7062 how so?
This is super exciting news!
Thank you chickens, I appreciate all you do! I personally am a big fan of eggs!
I've been a cat lover for a long time, and when I found I'm highly allergic to them I was saddened. But now I'm able to at least pet them without almost dying :)
I just wish I was in a better financial state to own a cat.
People better. Especially those idealized ones for whom you're ready to write highlights based on shorts like this one.
@@SaraevKS1985what?
@@SaraevKS1985Come out and say it straight. What is your point?
@@SaraevKS1985Yeah, I'm gonna need you to elaborate on that.
Yeah I know that feeling, and I'm in the same boat. I will some day, but until then...
THANKS😊
get well soon bro...❤❤❤
I had a friend that adored cats, and was allergic to them, but wanted to own one so much
I unfortunately cannot contact them anymore, so I hope they find this video
stuck on thinking of Skullker saying *"71 PERCENT"*
but yeah that is actually awesome
This is so cool!
I need this
Oh, this is so wild! This is the fun part of biology.
Purina live clear has allowed me to have cats without allergy issues
It's crazy how expensive anti-allergy cat food is though. It's like twice or three times the cost of the regular stuff, with almost identical ingredients.
My question is, what exactly is this protein, what does it do for the cat, because say this is a special protein that we don't know of it being special now, it could cause un needed harm.
I'm very curious on the science behind it and how it will shape the evolution of cats.
Fascinating🤯
That is fire.
Wish there was something thing like this for dogs
Thats wonderful!
Aww, thanks chickens!
Hmm yesssss another bite sized gusher of info that I found pleasantly educating and interesting
When chickens are exposed to cats, usually means lunch 😂
The antibodies would be digested in the cat s gut because antibodies are proteins, and they would never reach the cat allergens to be able to neutralise them (given that the eggs are eaten raw by the cat)
