    I love the sentiment "it's an exciting time to be me." I think that's a thing we should acknowledge more often! Congrats on all the exciting things that happened and are still to come.

    I just submitted all of my app materials for a MLIS program. I know the feeling of job hunting all too well! I just graduated with my MA in English this Spring. I got lucky with a cozy office job, but looking for something a bit more demonstrative of my skills I've gathered in grad school. Your channel, in part, gave me that push to research and try to see if getting my MLIS is right for me.
    Congratulations and good luck!

    Being "done" with being a student is SUCH a weird feeling. When there were breaks - actual ones between semesters or the much longer one before I went back to college - there was always that lingering "but wait, there's more!". DONE-done is...different. Sure, more might happen, but it's no longer the plan or internal expectation, and it was an unexpectedly strange transition. Still not sure about me, but I'm sure you'll continue to do cool and helpful things as your non-student self.

      What jobs do can you do outside of the library?

    • @StacksFacts
      @StacksFacts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on what you want to do, and what you end up studying during your MLIS. I talk a bit about some of the jobs that MLIS folks can end up doing at the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/pfP7AjwIZI8/w-d-xo.html
      but you might also want to have a quick google search of "MLIS job titles" to find a good post on Syracuse University iSchool's blog for more variety.

      Dont do it its a waste of money if your going to college get a major that makes alot of money

      @Anthony Urbina I mean, that's one take but my first job out of grad school paid $44/hour as an entry wage, so like I guess it's a matter of perspective?
      Regardless, you *can* earn a lot of money with this degree if that's what you want to do -- but you have to put some work in at the front end. Look at what industries are experiencing growth or projected to do so, take a business class or two, and seek out work experience opportunities during your masters in industries that pay more. Natural resources, investments, tech, etc...
      The bigger point that I think you're missing is that most folks who go into LIS aren't doing it to make a lot of money. Different strokes for different folks.
