I didn’t know about the burning of the trousers or nailing the bride’s shoes. But I did know about the Polterabend.

A German baby announcement video could be fun. When I first came to Bavaria I was in the DEEP south and I was witness to a very strange tradition I haven't seen since moving up to the Oberfelz. When a baby's gender is announced in southern Germany (Mülldorf area) if you're having a baby boy during the night the neighbours decorate your fence, porch, and upper balcony with baby clothes. If you're having a baby girl....EMPTY FOOD CANS (strung up the same way as the clothes) I found it interesting and am still clueless as to why they hang different things based on gender

Because one dialect word for girl is Bixn (often there also is a sign „Bixnmacher“) which is the same a high German Büchse =tin can. So it is a wordplay

Sehr cool Dominic 😎. If Polterabend means rough evening what would the term Poltergeist translate to??

Poltern is a word for rumbling so it is about the noise/ sound. So a Poltergeist is a noise ghost.

No, not a good idea to be hungover the day of the wedding. Any way to have *more* parties rather than fewer is alright in my book. Danke schön!

Achso, ich dachte die Polterabend ist eine Zeit nach der Hochzeit wo die Pärchen zu Hause von Poltergeist gestört werden 🤣🤣🤣
