I've had a couple different continental pointing breeds and hunted them for grouse and done field trials. None compare to my Braque for both ability in the field or at home. Mine was born in Milan, Italy and brought here to the USA and at 9 years old she still looks/acts like a 3 year old. Very smart, very affectionate and in my mine the prettiest dog I've ever seen.
As an older hunter who's hunted upland with Brittanys, American Water Spaniels and now Bracco Italianos I find the weight and short coat of the Braque interesting. As I grow older I find the 20 - 25 lb lighter Braque than most pointers to be a great help. As they get older you have to lift any dog into your vehicle and lighter weight really helps. Also where I live and hunt is warm so the thinner coat is a plus. I was having my American Water Spaniels shaved 3-4 times a year as well as carrying scissors with me while we hunted to cut burrs out of their fur.
I just reduced a one year old girl! Luna & omg she's literally the best. She seems like a old soul, she isn't bothered by my indoor cats. Already had a human 2 year old play with her too. I didn't know she was this kinda of dog until now. She's incredible!! 💜💜
Is the Braque du Bourbonnais your favourite dog breed?
I have never heard of this breed before, but they look like great athletes

Use Creme Rinse and the burrs just comb out. We used this trick on hard hunting Brittanys and English Setters.
