Lmao my dad walks in on me playing all the time but never really understood the game. Eventually he asked what the game was all about and I told him you have to hit the arrows in the chambers at the bottom and then proceeded to show him a 5 star map. He didn't believe I was actually hitting them and still thinks I'm faking it whenever he sees me playing and claims it to be "impossible".
LMAO This is the same reaction I get when I'm just playing a 4 star map as well sometimes.

Man I remember how long it took to get to "normal" level. It took me a long time to pass even just the 2 star wall, and to learn 7/9 key and later 10 key. Progression starts slow but it can be very rewarding even after just a week of playing.
It's always funny to see them saying you're mashing but yet you're getting a bunch of marvelous and perfects.
yes! I'm at the 2 star wall right now where I get like 93-94 on around 2 star stuff it's really fun I wanna learn like handstreams and stuff rn
never really learned more than 4 keys and you don't really need to if you don't want to go in top ~900.
the hardest barrier is 4 stars for sure though. 2nd place goes to 6 stars barrier.

Dude, this video is SO RELATABLE for me! Every time my friends see me play osu!mania or even any type of VSRG, they always comment the same way about my skill. My parents are already used to it, but my closest friends just hype at me being able to FC 4 star maps.
And 4 star to 5 star maps are I think the average osu mania player skill level. I’m at 4.5 stars rn

i honestly wish that i had a bunch of friends who play rhythm games. also, its kinda funny when you see them fail at things that you would find pretty easy. not in the "haha im better than you" way, but in the "wow, i actually improved a lot and i am proud of where i am now" way.

There’s always that one guy who has absolutely zero playtime in any rhythm game that says “you’re just spamming” and it’s so annoying
Whenever I show new people osu, I usually just do a mid 5 star, I’m not really that good (32k for reference) but I always get accused of spamming and I always have to do a slower map just to prove that I’m actually reading the map and not just “spamming”
It’s so fun showing people osu!mania who have never seen a single rhythm game in their life

the star rating in osu!mania feels like it gets exponentially harder

This is me 14y ago playing o2jam lol never got around to osu mania, just the regular osu mode was fun enough for me until it took off and it got really popular with the asians and you know, whatever you're good at, there will always be an asian that is better than you 🤣

When I play it and my dad sees he isn’t even impressed se my skill level anymore. He thinks I’m just key mashing so that’s what he calls osu!mania and Stepmania.
I’m basically constantly playing rhythm games, and i’ve started about 5 years ago. Whenever I’m just casually playing, people look at me, thinking I’m some sort of demon. It’s because my keyboard is so damn loud. 2 key presses sounds equal to a space bar 💀. Don’t even get me started on my space bar. That thing sounds like a meteor lol. I think my problem is that whenever I play, the songs I play are wayyyyyy to fast, so the people watching don’t really get a chance to see how the game works. Also, it looks like I’m just “spamming” (Yes, the word that basically insults every rhythm game player.) It’s kinda annoying when I’m just trying to fc a fast song, and people come up to me and are like “Are you just spamming? Lmao”.
Lesson of the story: If you are gonna show off to someone, don’t play insanely hard songs. You CAN if you want, but if you 100% want a reaction, play something average level or something. Then, just work your way into the crazy songs.

For me, no one even cares. I’m a mobile rhythm gamer, mainly on Phigros, and I’ve FCd four of the Lv. 16s, which are the hardest difficulty charts in the game. But of course, when I do this in front of anybody else, literally no one cares. I’ve also played a variety of other rhythm games including osu!mania, but it just feels like no one pays attention to the amount of skill a lot of these players have.
This is exactly me for osu!mania I really want to perform but no one cares sadly and I feel these skills I have acquired for a year and 3 months have gone to utter waste and being a good player for what? Im nothing special , just a 3 digit who has wasted his 8th grade year on osu!mania and doesn’t talk to much people.
