I don't think you need a tablet for pixel art, but i guess it depends on how your are used to do it. I am using mouse for any type of graphics

Well sometimes i might use references, but mostly i just start doing something, and see where it goes, then if that looks crap, i will try to use references :) and yes, i am using mouse for pixelart
