An excellent romantic piano concerto with, at times, a "modern" freedom of tone. An elegant writing often close to that of Camille Saint-Saëns, a friend of Marie Jaëll.
Un excellent concerto pour piano romantique avec, par moments, une liberté de ton "moderne". Une élégance d'écriture souvent proche de celle de Camille Saint-Saëns, ami de Marie Jaëll.

@@pintoreb glad you enjoyed it! It may not be groundbreaking but it's the sort of work that seems it would have wide appeal. Surprised it hasn't been picked up.
With so many powerful works now available on the Internet via TH-cam, it is easy to say they are getting lost. With that, the standards remain the most visible for whatever reason listeners tend to follow the presuppositions about who are the great composers or what the great compositions are. This is a terrific work.
There is a seriousness of purpose in this composer, more akin to Schumann and Brahms. Marvelous!

This is a great piano concerto and it is nothing like Camille Saint-Saëns, who was an opponent to anything "modern" and disfavored towards anything going beyond the Romantic idiom.
This concerto is entirely in the romantic idiom, nothing modern about it, which is probably why Saint-Saëns thought so highly of Marie Jaëll as a composer.

Mais uma excelente compositora que eu desconhecia. Nas historias da música que eu li as mulheres são pura e simplesmente ignoradas.

Just Allegro, not Allegro moderato in the first movement (from the autograph score, reduction, ... digitized at BNF and also now at IMSLP) I think. (All the parts are digitized, it might be that "moderato" is from one of them, I haven't checked.)

Meritus ad meritum per exclusivo merito, the piece is acceptable but lacks stamina, over and above the romantics scales and effects. But let´s be fair - I would like to hear more compositions from her to access a more concise idea. So far, average.

Grande compositrice! Stupendi i due concerti, eppure dicono sempre qualcosa di inappropriato sull'operato delle donne compositrici. Un tempo non potevano neanche avvicinarsi alla musica le donne!! Quindi lodiamo sempre la loro sincerità artistica per non creare incomprensioni che potrebbero sfociare in una ribellione bella e buona verso gli uomini. Gli uomini hanno sempre pensato, nei secoli passati, che le donne fossero degli oggetti, ma adesso siamo nel 2017!! Non dimentichiamo Clara Wieck, Fanny Mendelssohn e tante ltre degli anni successivi.
Attenti che le donne ci faranno le scarpe nei prossini anni.

obviously dear Antonio....systematic hiding of the female artistic production...above all in the classical music ! have you ever red an " History of Music" ? no woman is mentionned... do not exist at all..
I think you missed out a MUST HEAR on this GREAT work !
(Saint-Saëns had dedicated his first concerto to Jaëll in 1875, and she dedicated this one to him 2 years later, though I believe it remains unpublished.)
