Yep… I have a StagePro Anthem in a RainSong, and turn it to 75% mic - 25% piezo, and it is a pretty good sound. The best proprietary system is Takamine Palathetic. I have a P4DC with the CoolTube3 preamp, and it actually sounds like an acoustic guitar!
The parlour all day for me✌🏽 I bought a P20 all mahogany last year and it is a good addition to my larger bodied guitars ✌🏽 My Martin 00028 EC being my top & best purchase to date👍 Thanks Great picking 🙏
Great playing, Ben. I think this is the first time I've enjoyed the sound of the line-out more than the sound of an acoustic guitar itself miced. I don't think these guitars sound very good compared to many other guitars in the same price-range. I love my PRS SE electric, but acoustics are a totally different ball-game - where you can't cut corners and instead favor bling. Could be very decent live-guitars though, the mic in them seems great.
No dude, trust me, they sound way different in real life, even though it sounds great here in the demo. I own a PRS SE A60E and it is absolutely fantastic for both recording and live. Beautiful workmanship and quality as expected from PRS.
I have a 2016 PRS SE Angelus. A30E. A guy traded in that, and an A50E in the gorgous red color. Being it was my first guitar, I went with the lesser costing of the 2 even though I liked the aesthetics of the 50 more. But being a new player, no electronics or controls on exterior wasn't a bad thing. Just plugged the amp cable right into bottom button and didn't have to worry about anything else. I doubt I will ever sell it though, as I have a small collection of 12 started and like each in their own way. Tempted to buy a A50E for each my husband and myself now though, as he wants to start.
I have the Angelus with Black burst around the edge of the back - really pretty. Plays nicely, sounds good - but I paid a LOT more than the blue variant you're selling there, think it was £900 or so, and that was a few years ago. One other thing, if this kind of thing really matters to you, on the back of the headstock of mine there's a note saying that it's manufactured by Cor-Tek, so it's kinda only sold under license via PRS or something... either way, sound lovely and I'm really happy with it.
I had the blue mateo A50 a few years back (they made some a few years back) and it’s much more stunning in person. I was lucky to have a figured mahogany neck too but unfortunately, had to be sent back as it was unplayable past the 9th fret. I still love how they look
Liked and subscribed for years for the pedal comp. Great review of this years SE acoustics. I've played a bunch of them and really like them for the price point. I find the neck on them a little big thicker and prefer the Taylor GS Mini (Koa) for neck feel as it's less of a baseball bat, but I still really rate these acoustics. Both of my acoustics are Taylor and both my Electrics are PRS. I prefer the Maple and spruce combo or Koa for being a good strummer and finger picking guitar. Maple and Spruce has been industry standard for recording for loads of artists.
Looking to upgrade to something with solid top, if it has solid back and sides too, so much the better. I'd prefer Grand Auditorium, with full access to the top frets; currently narrowing options down to - PRS Angelus - Guild - Takamine.... The Guild would be a F4CE or the more unique F45CE which looks gorgeous but is a tad out of my current budget. Both these two have the added advantage of 24 frets, which as we all know is pretty rare, thus pretty funky, especially for those of us used to electric 24 fretters... Neck-and-neck with the Guild would be the PRS-SE A50E ... Equally gorgeous, but with the mateo-blue tint on the maple back only sides, married to a spruce top, mahogany neck and ultra-cool ebony board... Exactly where I'd expect a PRS acoustic to be. Love the sound of this and the playing gave it full justice. Well done. I like the Takamine offerings too... But erring more toward the latter two... Decisions....
You Sir' make good You Tube Videos 2024a.d. I can't imagine when your are at your best since you kind of looked a bit out of it on here because of lack of sleep you said, but still love the introduction to your representation and you seem very talented. Keep making videos for TH-cam2024a.d. I will spread the word for you.
I feel like im on my own with this one, but I have never ever heard a piezo sound I actually liked regardless of price. ever. Take a mic sound all day long
No, I 100% agree! At first when we heard the blue guitar with the piezo, I was like "that is waaay too bright" but instantly when it changed to the mic, it was MUCH richer and better sounding. I mean I guess it makes sense, considering where the piezos are placed, but still, I much prefer the sound without them
Same about the 1 11/16" neck,I would say ok for younger pickers, but as you get older 1 3/4" necks are easier, which is why my Martin HJ28 doesn't get much playing time anymore......................................................
Great playing Big Ben, nice sounding guitar's PRS do love a bit of bling . What thumb pick do you use & why ? You Rabeer ( apologies for the spelling ! ) Could give weight watchers a run for their money !! You both look great , " I know it's all about self control , but I do like my scoff " . PEACE and LOVE to everyone.
Just a small whine about the "Tuning it to Drop D" section where a number of the video edits were not well mated to the audio. It's either synced or it's not. If it's not, people will notice. This is, after all, a guitar-oriented channel.
Piezo pickups are a great equalizer. They make guitars of any price point sound equally cheap.

LOL, spot on
Piezo pups benefit tremendously from the Fishman Aura Spectrum pedal, so budget another $400.
Piezo alone is just bad.
The system in the Yamaha silent guitar is actually really good
They’ve only marginally improved since they came out. They still sound like someone smacking two pieces of Hot Wheels track together.
That black one sounds phenomenal plugged in! Sounds like it’s straight off of a record 🖤
The prs with the blue flamed body is absolutely stunning in person. It looks so nice I was almost scared to play it
You look and sound and play amazing Ben and the review was fun and interesting to watch! All the best for the baby and your sleep ;)
Great review! I have an Angelus, most comfortable acoustic I've played. Really nice sound but on the quiet side which is a bonus living in a flat!
You truly are a master of acoustics.. Also, that 4k50fps is as stunning as your demos. Whole production is AAA. Bravo, sir.
The parlour all day for me✌🏽

Nice playing, and congratulations on the baby.
Superb video as always but... but what about the others? A40E, A50E and A60E?
That Blue was very blue. I think it should have been on the front rather than the back.
To many mushrooms in the design department
Should have been left on the factory shelf. Looks awful 😂
I got lucky and got an Angelus Se10e used a year ago for $150. The all mahogany top back and sides give it a very warm tone. PRS = Excellent guitars.

Sounds good, nice tune you did on the blwck one. Do you know what type of strings are on it?

I feel like they could have gone with the black top with the blue sides/back for a killer look.
Totally agree; that combo with the brown top simply does not work
I had the blue mateo A50 a few years back (they made some a few years back) and it’s much more stunning in person. I was lucky to have a figured mahogany neck too but unfortunately, had to be sent back as it was unplayable past the 9th fret. I still love how they look
I have a maple Angelus and it’s the guitar I play the most by a large margin. And my other two guitars are PRS as well.
The sort of sound recording engineers would like because they can add in the character in post.
Mate these look amazing! Is the blue mateo the A50E?
Well...one for the books ....I never even knew PRS did acoustics. I have been enlightened. The Maple here gives "a lot of snap" to the tone.
The blue back and sides, wow

Love the brighter tone of the Limited Edition maple body Angelus. Not sure about the blue though....
The one with the blue back and sides looks like a coloring picture my son has painted with his colored pencils. 😂
I like ebony fretboards with some light colour in them. Builders should use those pieces more.
Great picking Ben as usual bud, it would be unfair to comment I just hope they bloom when they open up.. 👍👍🥃Respect to you mate

Plugged in sound was impressive, might've preferred the mic closer to the neck-body join as it sounded a bit boxy. Lovely playing though!

Agree as well, I can't stand that sound at all
I bought a PRS Angelus A50E (the meteo blue one) about 6 months ago. I like it a lot, but it couldn't take the place of my Martin. it was $1000 USD.
I have an Angelus and absolutely love it! Cant really get behind the weird color back and sides on some of them though
How low do you get your action to be on these guitars.
Your playing looks effortless.
Why is the parlor the most expensive?
That blue Angelus is nice but would be outstanding with a darker top. Maybe a Walnut or Mahogany top?
I'd have to go for the parlor guitar, sounded very sweet
the black ❤️❤️❤️
Same about the 1 11/16" neck,I would say ok for younger pickers, but as you get older 1 3/4" necks are easier, which is why my Martin HJ28 doesn't get much playing time anymore......................................................
Have these had any setup work by Andertons?
Great playing Big Ben, nice sounding guitar's PRS do love a bit of bling . What thumb pick do you use & why ? Why is the smallest guitar the most expensive? Great playing Ben!
Are there any plans for a nylon string model? Carlo 🎸👍🏼
The blue one is a special for the new Avatar movie!
"My Baby's Keepin' Me Awake" - Ben's new blues song ;P
When it comes to looks, I would prefer the black guitar to be entirely black and the blue guitar to be entirely blue.
Ben, you may not make much sense because of the baby but you still CAN play 🤟
That ltd sounded lush
Sweet
P50 Better than the P20? And why?
I'm just glad mr PRS himself did not show up to advertise them in a 2h long video
Just a small whine about the "Tuning it to Drop D" section where a number of the video edits were not well mated to the audio. It's either synced or it's not. If it's not, people will notice. This is, after all, a guitar-oriented channel.
8:50 respect, this is the oddest looking guitar I’ve ever seen.
I bought a P20 from you. But I regret it. It doesn't sound as good as when Ben played it in the video he made 😔
@@jayandgem 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
wow
Great playing Ben. Spikey headstock just does not suit an acoustic. It looks to metal imo.
Very Perty!
PRS SE sure can do sexy-at-a-price-point just before Christmas...
Cort do make good guitars....
Not sure about the blue... : S
Why doesn’t prs make any core acoustics? They only make SE. 🤷🏽
Acoustic guitar pickups all sound like bad midi instruments. I appreciate that they're convenient, but nothing beats the sound coming out the front.
Was it me or did anyone else noticed the weird editing of this video? Or did my browser played tricks on me
I like my PRS the way I like my women. American 😎🇺🇸🦅🗽
If only they had a different headstock. The normal PRS headstock just doesn't look good on an acoustic.
agree
On the other end it would be boring to only have Martin or Gibson style headstocks on every acoustic.
That piezo sound is awful as usual. NUX Optima, or Fishman Aura Spectrum necessary to be decent sounding live if the piezo is used.
Sorry but, that pick-up system is quack, quack. Thought fishman could do better.
The orange top with the blue back and sides looks … terrible… no way … sorry
Are those guitars still China made?🙇
Who would do that to a beautiful piece of maple, REALLY, 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
These sound terrible…..
