This song reminds me of an old bothy we used to play in near the bleachfields in dundee by dichty burn. Made me think the single lads working on the land had a very hard life.

so sad that the pictures bear no resemblance to the song .Got this on vinyl somewhere I think. song might be about lad back from war back to farm to work for boss exempt from service correct me if im wrong regardless what a voice
Hi Fergie you may have it on vinyl, but it a fairly modern song written by Charlie Allan for a young lad who worked for him in the 1970's .. i may have gone a wee bit too modern with the machinery Happy New Year Ian
