      It even happens in Europe, the EU had to ban large manufacturers like Unilever who make Ariel laundry detergent from selling the same product with same barcode in West Europe much higher quality and poorer Eastern Europe worse quality for same price.

      They don't follow double standards. They make better cars for more money and worse cars for less money. You want a car that costs HALF as much to be just as good? Well then you have a very low IQ and no clue about business, because that's impossible.

It weighs a healthy 150-200 Kilos more so its obvious that it performed this way. Can give many real life examples for this. Would have made more sense if they tested the international Aura against the Indian Aura.

      First go and compare the prices of the same car sold in Japan and in your country. The Japanese one would be more than double in price. Some companies do cost cutting in markets where the buying power of people is low or else they will not survive in the market as people will not be even able to buy their vehicles due to the prices. One example from India is Ford and Hyundai, both entered the markets at the same time, but Ford announced restructuring and shutting down of plants in September 2021, while Hyundai is the second most selling company in India. Why like this? Ford sold vehicles as they were sold in other countries, therefore they were more expensive, while Hyundai did some cost cutting, reduced the frame strength and safety features and made their vehicles cheaper. Another example is Škoda, Škoda was following a path similar to Ford but they started doing cost cutting and their sales increased by upto 3 times in 2022. However in some markets, people have a mentality that they are the best drivers out there, so they will not crash the car and thus the safety features are useless and a waste of money, and some legends prefer getting a sunroof instead of airbags.
      You cannot do anything with this unless the government makes vehicle safety regulations.

    • @prysp
      @prysp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      *I saw a meme yesterday -*
      Sigma male’s car -
      “No airbags, we die like real men!”
      I sent this in a Discord server, and after sometime, I got the following reply -
      “And if we survive, we suffer like real men!”
      If we edit this meme a bit, it would definitely match some markets like Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, etc.

      If you lived in India, the Indian car standard is more than enough to cover the occupant in Indian crashes.
      In India, the majority of crashes happen in speed ranges of 5 to 35 miles per hour. Whereas in the US it happens at 40 to 65 miles per hour.

    It is so obvious!!! With the per capita income on the lower side of the spectrum for India, people's priorities are different. Mileage matters! Consumers are price conscious. Thereby manufactures utilise this fact to provide sub standard cars. The media plays an important role too. With the youtube reviews focussing mostly on the geeky features and not on the overall safety of the vehicle. There are very few players like Honda / Tata / Mahindra who do not compromise on that. Education penetration also matters! It is high time people start giving importance to their life in the Indian sub continent.

To make matters worse, the Accent is ACTUALLY SOLD IN Mexico too, and it starts at 14,000 USD, the same exact car as sold in USA, made in Mexico, just with a less powerful engine, otherwise identical. But you couldn't have compared those two, could you, because that wouldn't stir any fake drama and would not enable you spread a false narrative.

Here, i10 is a one class lower car, so it is lighter, and presents lesser opponent to the Accent. Global NCAP says one reason is the different types of regulations that exist in different countries. There’s also a huge difference in consumer priorities from country to country, which means automakers focus on different aspects of their products for the different regions. This can’t be an excuse, however, as life is no doubt the most important thing whenever on the planet you live.

    Should have done a model to model comparison, and not cheapest available to the cheapest available. As far as I can tell that Accent is really a Verna in our Indian market, which is priced higher than the Xcent that they used. Xcent is a cheaper car, and at least in my opinion, would fare lower than the Verna. So a real apples to apples comparison would have been, and I say this just based on how the car looks, Mexican made Accent (which they used here) vs Indian made Verna.
    Would have also liked to know what the price was for that Mexican made model, and how it compares to the Xcent used here (in converted currency or whatever but at least a comparable unit) Simply saying cheapest vs cheapest isn’t really sensible/logical now is it. Almost makes me wanna question everything from GNCAP 😂

    Aren't we also to look at cost of the car? The car sold in the Mexican market needs to achieve a certain price point which is surely lower than what is needed in America. Hence manufacturers need to produce cars accordingly. Steel strength, safety equipment and safety features offered will surely be different. Plus, the Accent is a full segment above the i10. Of course it will stand up better to impact.

    Forget about safety
    I have a 2019 Venue Sx diesel.
    I am not a bit happy with it, I a so so pissed that I put my money on it.
    .
    - Biggest issue, It's suspension is horrible, you'll get tired of bumps. Brezza and Nexon both are very cushioned and comfortable. I have to keep the tyre pressure at 26psi(very low) compared to Nexon and Brezza's 33 psi. And those cars are still comfortable despite 33 psi..
    - Low end torque is horrible too. That means you need to change gears again and again when the speed increases or reduced even a bit. What I mean to say is that when you pass over through speed breakers or pits on roads in gear No.2 which people usually do, you'll have to use half-clutch for a long time or either put it in gear no.1. You'll get tired to gearshifts and using half clutch. I also drove Nexon and brezza, both of them do not have such issues. Both of them could easily pass through speed breakers in gear No.2, without any half clutch.
    Note :- I have 2019 sx 1.4 ltr diesel, I don't know how 1.5 ltr diesel or 1.0 petrol perform on this issue.
    .
    3rd Which most car reviewers do not tell you :- Getting in and out of the car is a challenge, Believe me you really got to twist your body to get out of the car. compare it with Nexon, you'll find the difference. It's much comfortable in Nexon and brezza both.
    .
    4th - It's ABS is very deadly, when u go on high speed and there comes a series of pits on road, when you apply breaks you want the car to slow down significantly, but as soon as the wheel hits the 1st pit out of many, the break pads just release the discs due to the jerk it receives from the pit, the ABS does that to avoid the wheel from being locked. But what this does is, it does stop the car for the next pits and you end up getting into the pit at high speed with that terrible suspension, it literally feels like your suspension is broken.
    .
    5th - It's infotainment system is shit, whenever you start the car, the songs start playing from the very beginning, from song No.1 on the list. That means you'll have to listen to those 5-10 songs repeatedly again and again. It's very hard to hold your calm on this small but disturbing issue.
    .
    Mai to pachta raha hun leke, baki aaplog dekh lo apna.

Because I'm sure if you crash your US NCAP 5 star F150 into your US NCAP 5 star smart car... Both would look great, right? Because of airbags... Please redo this fairly where both are crashing into rigid barriers.

  • @new.handle
    @new.handle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Let's disregard the fact that this is not the same type of car/class, the fact is that the cars of today are sold by kg/lb. Before, the main buying factor (for luxury brands, it still is) was the brand/name you buy, now it is how much material is there (heavier cars cost more). This lead to minimizing the thickness of metal sheets used to build a car, as well as time spent building one. It is quantity over quality issue - build cheap build in numbers. And let's not forget that demand is bigger, and buying power of social groups is more divers, giving opportunity to car manufacturers/industry to do legaly bare minimum to comply with safety rules. Results are cars that are unsafe in reality but are approved as 'fit to road'.
