      You can be even better (well it's hard though...) It's not gonna make you happier... For some hours, some days maybe, and after you would like to go further, always further until you reach the top (I didn't reach the top myself but I see the cerebral mechanism) and then you will be bored as usual.
      Happyness is a matter of vision of life, not goals activements.

    What a great solo, I'm already struggling with the initial E and C#m rolls, country guitar never ceases to amaze me, it's technically complex yet sounds so beautiful.

    So close to getting this, the beginning cascading part is the hardest. I'm not great at alternate picking 1nps, I prefer hybrid but even then my fingers aren't strong or fast enough for full speed

  • @igorperic5232
    @igorperic5232 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I started recently with bluegrass and I watched many of your videos. Boom chicka pattern gets very hard for me after 130 bpm while playing (note G - strum) & (open D - strum) pattern using open G chord. Crosspicking triads (200 bpm triplets on triads) - is that enough? Alternate picking 160 bpm 16th notes as far as I can see is enough? The goal is to prepare my right hand for the challenges and I am trying to set specific metronome goals :)

  • @TheFrode69

    Great job and incredible picking technique! Anyone know what instrument Ricky played on the recording during this solo?
    It's a high strung acoustic guitar of some sort, and from the sound of it, I think it might be a Tacoma Papoose.

    • @BulldoggerJK
      @BulldoggerJK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He’s a bluegrasser. It’s a Martin D-28.

    • @TheFrode69
      @TheFrode69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BulldoggerJK , if so, it has to be a D-28 on helium. Listen to the solo. It sounds one octave above what Ben Parsons plays in this video, and even goes higher than what's possible on a regular guitar tuning. But it's not a Tacoma either - the model I'm referring to (The Papoose) was released in 1991. It has to be some sort of octave acoustic.

    • @BulldoggerJK
      @BulldoggerJK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheFrode69 are you talking about the mandocaster break? Pretty sure it’s a mandocaster. You can hear the double strings at one point. Mandocasters aren’t fully double stringed like a regular mandolin. From what I remember. They aren’t very common. Now you got me listening a little closer.

    • @TheFrode69
      @TheFrode69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BulldoggerJK not just the break, but the entire solo covered in this video.
      In the original recording - as I said, the solo is voiced one octave above what's played in this video, and it sounds like an acoustic instrument i.e. an acoustic guitar somehow tuned one octave up from a normal tuning.
      It may very well be a mandocaster (which, to my knowledge, only features four strings), but it doesn't sound like an electric instrument.
      Maybe they got that sound from plugging a mandocaster directly into the board, but another thing is that the tonal range in this solo is greater than what a regular mandolin tuning can do. This goes all the way down to an E whereas the deepest note on a mandolin is a G.
      There must be a way to ask Ricky about this.

    • @dannysmith1680
      @dannysmith1680 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frode Hansen, did you ever figure out what instrument Ricky played? I agree it sounds like a high strung guitar, but there are clearly double string phrases like a mandolin.
