- Here's how I've been using my Hobonichi Cousin this year, and how I will use it for 2025!
In this video, I talk about:
making a techo kaigi / page about your planner and journal needs can help you
how I felt about the new Tomoe River S paper, and how it's changed my art process
how I use yearly, monthly and weekly pages
the types of things I collect in my book
Hope this gives you an idea of some of the uses of a Hobonichi Cousin. Thanks for watching!

absolutely in love with your drawings and the way you use your hobonichi! your journal is filled with so much love and care. this has definitely inspired me to be more creative with my journal so thank you!:) i hope you’re able to get all that you want for 2025!!
thank you so much! i put my feelings into the page, easier for me in drawings than writing :) you can try new things in the pages since there's many of them!
Your Hobonichi is a thing of beauty! I always love seeing your pages and looking at the art you create! 🥰
Thank you so much! 💖 Let's enjoy the coming year in our techos!
Thanks for showing your Hobonichi ! It was very inspiring.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching 💖
You're a great artist! I really like how you used the space in your hobonichi.
Thanks! I like to fill up spaces :)
I love your art and how you use your journal! So inspiring! I've been drawing more in my A6 Techo for October. Love watching your videos :)
I'm glad you enjoy the videos and are inspired to draw! 😊
I loved watching your video! Your voice was so calm & it felt like a friend was explaining her Hobonichi setup to me 🫶 Your art has such a warm & cozy feeling to it & looking back at your pages feels like they’re infused with nostalgia 🍂
Thank you! That's really nice of you to say! Thought I'd try something different and hold the book up to the camera ☺ I really love drawing and hope to have more friendly chats soon!
this is such a wonderful flip through, i LOVE your art and how you document in the cousin. I was always worried it would get too chunky - but the satisfying way you can see the whole year in one book may move me from the avec!
thanks a lot! 😊 chunky is ok, i used to carry my whole year around with me on public transport 😅 i've used avec in the past but it didn't feel right for me. you do you though! 💖
@@astrocatdraws haha wow! on PT is impressive, very heavy hehehe - I'm moving from the A6 to A5 this year for more space, maybe next year I will move from avec to whole year!
Your style is beautifully original. I love it so much! My Cousin this year is stylistically almost the polar opposite to yours as it’s covered in edge to edge writing in black ink 😄. I hope to art journal a bit more next year and your example reminded me to invoke more playfulness ☺️.
thank you! your cousin sounds great, do you have a special ink you like to use? it's fun just to be loose in the journal and just do whatever the story of that day tells you to do. e.g. paste a leaf, cut up some paper
@@astrocatdraws I used Platinum Carbon Black but it’s very dry for my pen so I decided to go wild and venture into grey (Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri-Same) this week. Thank you for your ideas! My son is always handing me leaves and flowers so it’ll be a nice way to mark his little gifts by pasting them in my journal.
@@helenaliu I'm a big fan of Platinum Carbon Black too for drawing, using an EF Preppy though sometimes finding it not fine enough for drawing. The blue grey of the Iroshizuku Kiri-Same looks interesting! Also your son sounds really sweet 🌼🍃 Thats a nice memento to put in your journal!
Your pages are so beautiful to look at ❤ love the way you use your hobonichi!! ❤❤
Thank you! 💖 i like to make the pages as if I was making my own illustrated book! 💖
Wow, I love your work and drawing! 😍 And I agree, you never know when you might need some little tidbit of information, so it’s good to have it recorded.
thank you! i've got my facts about the shy albatross and giant bugs when i need it! 😄
@@astrocatdraws 😂
I really admire your Art. I wish we could create in the same space such as a journaling retreat or similar...such an inspiration 😊
Thanks! 💖 Oh gosh, that's really nice of you. Maybe if not in person, then maybe online? I'm thinking of doing something like that on Patreon but prerecorded as there's a big difference in timezones in Australia...
I love love your drawings, just purchase hobonichi because of your video. I don't know how to draw but hopefully your videos will be inspiration . you are talented
thank you very much! hope you have fun with your hobonichi ☺
Your talent in drawing it's mesmerising
Wow I've never been told that before, thank you very much 💖
@astrocatdraws I'm surprised, love your art stylist and you should receive compliments all the time
Thank you for this great video! I wish Hobonichi offered more options for the A5, e.g. horizontal layout for the weekly view or no weekly view at all. I just can't get vertical layouts to work (my mother tongue has too many long words😅).
Thank you for watching! I guess if you didn't want weekly view, you could try Day Free? I turned my weekly view sideways because my handwriting is too big for the regular vertical space :)
Omg yesss so excited to watch!!😊
Thank you for your support! 😄
Do you happen to remember which article gave you the idea for the weekly layout that you started in August? I’m also struggling to find a way to use it 😅
It was this one! www.1101.com/store/techo/collection/contents/0619/ The second picture. It's been three weeks and I'm still going...
Where did you find your date stickers for your daily pages?😀
Hi! I make them myself. They're available as a Patreon download ☺

🙀🐱😺💖
I wish that I could draw better.
It's okay - just a little bit of practice as often as you can!
Just wanted to say your taste in covers is the exact same as mine, so many beauties. I love your art, I’ve just made my hobonichi order and will definitely try drawing in mine.🫶🏻💗🌷🌷
Checks and stripes and mina perhonen ftw! Enjoy your new hobonichi items and making art in it 💖 Drawings say a lot of things that words can't sometimes ☺
