    Regarding dissonance and disaffection:
GBH response: There are very few and it does not happen frequently. Our members are a happy people.
The truth (pre-2002): There are more than he cares to mention and the reasons for it (the September 6, Sonia Johnson, Janice Allred, Margaret Toscano, Richard Lyman, George Lee, all the general authorities in the early days of the church, and the list goes on). I can see why he says it’s rare, but the membership number of the church conceals the level of devotion on behalf of the millions that don’t consider themselves members anymore.
Regarding the pre-1978 temple and priesthood ban:
GBH response: I don’t know why.
The truth: GBH knows very well, documented and corroborated in many places, including in the most recent book by Matthew Harris (“Second-class Saints”)
Regarding Anti-democratic practices in the church:
GBH response: No, there isn’t any such thing. The priesthood is for every worthy man.
The truth: There is no mention of women in this whole segment. This is because women do not hold the priesthood, nor do they have a significant say-so in decision-making situations.
    Regarding the church’s wealth:
GBH response: Yes, we’re well off, but our assets are not money-producing, but money-consuming.
The truth: GBH is only referring to the church’s ecclesiastical programs. He fails to mention profit-producing business ventures.
    Regarding criticism:
GBH response: We invite our critics to meet with us.
The truth: The governing body does not even want to meet with members that have questions, let alone those on the outside. High-up leaders defer to their secretaries and local leaders to avoid such conversations. Sure, they don’t have enough time to address us all individually, but they sure take their sweet time to address the collective membership when it comes to bringing to light the many parts of history that have been obfuscated and whitewashed.
    Regarding financial disclosure:
GBH response: Financial information should be available to the contributors (members), not to the world.
The truth: Unlike other religions, the church has never been transparent with its financial activities.

Why does he sound like he’s reading a scripted response? The cadence is so weird.

What about JWs, Scientologists, Amish and there has to be others who started the church in the US?

No kidding. He literally said the lds church was the only church to come out of America, and spread across the world. These leaders do not know what they are talking about. They just say things that sound good to them even though there is no truth to it.

Exactly what I was going to comment, among other things. This makes GBH scarcely credible, considering there is more than a handful of denominations that originated on US soil.

Hinckley seems condescending and fake. His cadence and speaking style sound rehearsed and inauthentic. I think I used to do the same as a Mormon, when I had to paste on my plastic smile every day because I was genuinely, incredibly UNHAPPY and felt wicked for it. I just had to keep up the pretense. Hans Mattson said one of his primary reasons for leaving was right after the Olympics, when he attended a meeting in SLC, Hinckley came in and banged on the pulpit, yelling angrily that none of the expenses the church had incurred in hosting the Olympics had borne fruit.

Germans have truly done a 180-degree turn from where they were when Hitler was in power. They know how bad their ancestors were when it came to race and hatred, and they don't allow those behaviors anymore. Modern Germans don't deserve any hate for what their ancestors did, because they have truly repented of the sins of their fathers.
