After hearing Jocko Willink's podcast interview with Durant, I listened to "In the Company of Heroes" audiobook; quite a gripping, inspiring, and educational account of his ordeal. I look back and realize many Americans, including me, had no true idea of the circumstances surrounding the reasons the US was in Somolia. Insightful book.

So sad, how many died and how the Somalis treated the bodies. RIP Randy Shugart, Gary Gordon - 2024

@@Black-Peter They were sent to Somalia because Adid was massacring United Nation peacekeepers and desecrating their corpses all because they dared to give food out to starving Somali's who suffered under his predecessors tyranny, his tyranny, a drought, and two famines causing the deaths of over 300,000 Somali.
They and other members of the United Nations didn't go because they thought it was going to be a great vacation spot they went to help the population and they were constantly attacked over it by Adid's clan.

The person who engineered the audio on this interview should go get a job putting lettuce on tacos.
