    Hi Vivi,
I wouldn't have come up with the idea of cooking soup from pea pods.
I don't have peas, but you can always learn something new.
Your sieve, in which you had the pea pods, looked particularly cute, as if it came from a doll's kitchen.
With us here it is also far too warm for cooking. I cook potatoes, noodles or rice late in the evening so that I can prepare a meal from them in the next few days.
I'm sure the pea soup tasted light and delicate.
    Big hug
    Claudia

I adore soups one of the best things for fall and I don't mind a thin soup. The pitcher on your counter that holds all your kitchen utensils is so beautiful. Love the colors.

Another reason to grow peas next year!! We have some Hurst Green Shaft sent by Old Gardener Guy which we did not get in time for this season. We will plant them next year though. Fab recipe, and so great to use up 'waste'. 😀

I love peas in every form. Fresh from the garden are the best. I can't wait to try this. As I mentioned before, my writer-daughter is in the UK digging up info on her 4XGr. Uncle (my mother's side (Chase)). She's been having a great time. Even managed to dodge the power outages. She's exiting Bath, and heading down to Devon to participate in a writers retreat and some spoiling. Thanks for another informative vid. xx

If the plants have any tender tips, tendrils or shoots, add them to the soup broth to amp up the flavor and they are pretty.

I think this would have been a great idea even just to use to make a veggie broth for use with other soups and stews. MY chickens would love the stuff left in the strainer. This way everything is used to the very end with no waste!

Hi Vivi, I'm a new subscriber. But have been catching up on your videos. Love them! My little plot in Vauxhall is BURSTING with 'Trails Of Tears' beans. As fast as I pick them, they keep growing back! Some are green, and some are a lovely mottled red. Can I eat the red ones? Or better to let them dry? Just wondered if you could advise on the red or green Trails Of Tears situation. Best wishes, Lee X

    • @WhatVivididnext
      @WhatVivididnext  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yay, hello and a proper welcome to you Lee! This is my first year growing ToTs so I'm learning as I go......the smaller, greener ones are good to eat whole but as they fatten up and go purple/red they get a bit tougher so I'm leaving those ones for the beans to have dried. :-)

That's interesting about the hint of mushroom. I'm growing a bush variety snap bean for the first time this year. It's supposed to have a strong taste of mushroom. In fact, they're called Grandma Nellie's Mushroom Beans (in case anyone should miss the taste!). I wonder why some peas & beans would have that flavour & if it's more prominent after cooking? 🤔
(For the record, I'd like to blitz those dummies too!)

I only grow 'sugar snap' so I eat the pea pods with peas, raw. So no soup for me. I bet you could juice them. Are your peas the same variety as the type used for mushy peas? Why don't you add a diced potato and carrot?
Q: Do you ever cook with grape leaves?
BTW: I did ask you and Paul what I could grow for Fall? So you think Peas might work now?

    • @WhatVivididnext
