I did a BIG stack of book page with markers while watching TH-cam. Then some magazine flowers....worked my way right out of an arty drought, as well as a personal funky mood. Great art therapy. Thanks Darcy, Laura, Gayle, & Shannon G! xo
Yay, you now have >4K subscribers, congrats! My latest favorites for collage paper are papers (glossy magazine or coffee table books pages, color printer paper, painty papers etc.) painted with coffee+water and then scratched with a metal dish scrubber. I make grungy/interesting collages with those and decorate them with doodles using small needle tip plastic bottles from amazon. I filled them with cheap black acrylic paint (from the Dollarama, I live in Canada) and use them as ‘markers’ to outline things. I love the muted color you mixed and writing this formula down: cheesy baby blue plus boring-because-overused orange + a bit of white = awesome muted blue/green. I like the egg-plant-like purple (after mixing purple with brown) so writing this down as well. Thanks a lot as always!!
I was waiting to see if anyone would notice the 4k. 😉 You win something for noticing, you can email me at darcysmixedmedia@gmail.com (you can verify that with the description box). Do you have a favorite of the mixed media journals I made? th-cam.com/video/pnNF4hMG4P4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Gio_IDm7DUXwI5nR
Ok, i decided on a book and did the mark making, a little water color mark making and a bit of gesso. I am covered in paint, gesso and such! What fun. And yeah, had to bust out the heat gun😂
This is such a great idea especially when you’re not feeling particularly creative but want to do something. I’m going to do this when I get home from work tonight. Thanks for for all of your fun inspiration 🌻
Thanks! Have fun playing ❤️ I have to give credit to Rachel @roxycreations679 for using a book and keeping it in the book. I do that with collage masterboards so this makes total sense.
I’ve never done mark making but you have inspired me! I’m new to mixed media. I think I’m attracted to the freedom from perfection it offers like with junk journals. I also don’t match my socks…I mean who has time right. I’m also 62 and think there are more important things to concern myself with. Although I draw the line with my shoes 😂🤣
I will try rubber stamping on book pages and coloring in with markers. I have stenciled on book pages. My favorite collaging is book pages collage and mod podged for a journal cover. I also like making master boards with scrapbook paper and digitals.

Hi Darcy, I would have never thought to mix colors to get the one I want. I need to study color theory some more. TFS 😊
I was guessing; I happened to guess right.
