I had a friend in a similar situation. It happened before I met her, and it’s not the kind of thing you ask much about. The thing is family is very important to some people, and many don’t/can’t see the truth because of their love for their family member. Especially if it ends up being the word of a friend versus their family. In a situation like that I wouldn’t say it’s always black and white when it comes to choosing who to trust. But it also probably depends on your relationship to the person
I think it’s more of the fact that she mourned this man she looked up to now to find out what a horrible thing he did to her friend, and to top it off, have her keep that a secret. I’d imagine her emotions are mixed with devastation and anger at both her father and her friend.
