Having enemies respawn in an rpg (and really fast in the demo too) was an interesting experience. I hope you have fun! There are times I wish I had the time to play eq like I used to.
No, it was definitely A. I don't remember what expansion they changed it to T in - might've been Luclin or maybe even PoP, but it was defaulted to A for the longest time. There's copies of the original manual out there to verify this.
Just found this game through their Steam demo and I’m actually blown away. I expected to just spend a couple hours testing the waters but instead spent ~10 hours grinding out my demo island BIS lol. I’m definitely going to be grabbing current build access asap. I’m addicted.
I was just talking about this the other day about how we're on the precipice of what is considered "boomer shooters" of the MMO genre. Didn't know about Erenshor, but I did recently play "Legends of Old" another Solo Everquest experience only with less focus on groups and more on how classes would solo in original EQ while also replicating EQ's artstyle.
This looks so much like an indie steam game called Gedonia. That one also has some strong solo MMORPG vibes to it. It's got some janky bits, but it's a pretty cool game with a pretty cool class/skill system.
They're not far off at all. When I was thinking of games that let you kind of...make mistakes, Bg3 and Elder Scrolls came to mind. Maybe I just have a penchant for attacking npcs that aren't normally attackable.
I really enjoy the concept that this game is bringing and the graphics look fun. I might play it but it would be cool if there was an option to add friends and real life players
I really want to get this one when it comes out. My personal wishlist: 1) Steam Deck compatibility 2) Different races to play as (elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling and so forth) 3) More texture work so that it looks a bit more like EQ and a little less like Runescape (that's just me, as you mentioned I'm more of a EQ player myself)
With the increased accuracy of AI as it is now, I could see using that to learn from old school MMO's social interactions and using it to apply to NPC programming to further simulate with greater accuracy and expand on this idea. I'm quite intrigued by this game. I really miss the old school days but find that nowadays I really don't have the time to invest like I did in my 20's. Something like this would allow me the opportunity to experience the nostalgic gameplay without the timesink it would require in a live game.
The more people talk about the concept of soloing vs grouping, i think it will inspire people to really listen to the musings, despite whatever their immediate opinions may be, and come up with clever gaming innovations and inventions
It's a cool idea, and I wish them a lot of success with it. Looks like it has no pretensions, and was just made for the fun factor. Their systems all seem pretty well developed and reasonable in scope, so it shouldn't be too hard to add content and actually deliver a complete game. Definitely worth checking out. To add, after your last comments: yes, they're relying pretty heavily on Synty assets, which can be polarizing for sure. But these days, character art is one of the "harder" and most expensive aspects of a game to implement, especially if you want any degree of customization. I'm personally not a fan, and though I own a lot of their stuff I don't really use it. But I don't fault them - it's kind of the price you pay for delivering a finished game with a reasonable budget.
I get dot hack ps2 game vibes, but obviously with eq and runescape influences. The solo mmo feel is quite unique and I wouldnt mind seeing more classes and races. Maybe some type of lore system if there isnt one. Real cool non the less.

All in all, it looks like a great concept, I might try it out... while I understand it's basically the entire idea of the game to be "offline", it would be cool if you could invite a couple of friends to play it with you

This is interesting, and I guess balance issues aren't really a thing so they could try all sorts of ability combinations. I wonder if it gets far enough if they'll have a version simulator, where upgrades nerf things, and maybe a forum minigame where if enough players complain about features they can cause a split that makes the virtual devs rethink their changes... haha, this fun to think about
Honestly I'm really interested to see just how extensive the full game is. I'm not sure if they've considered about the trade offers but you already have rhe whisper option so I wonder if they could add in the ability to initiate a trade that way
I will absolutely play this but i dont expect much. Single player mmo feel i think really comes across in FF12, Dragon age Inquisition, and Guild Wars 1 (played solo obviously). Great worlds with fun AI teamates. This doesnt look great yet but i love the concept so much i dont even care
The very first time i logged into everquest i had no idea what the game was about or how it worked. I remember clicking on a guard and seeing the message What would you like your Tombstone to stay? I remember thinking oh this guy is talking shit! how do i attack. Found the attack button and died instantly lol did this like 3 times and then gave up on the game. Eventually I learned the game and have great memories of EQ
@@JeannieLove Probably partially, but it shares just as much with DAoC and Asheron's Call's UI - at least for the HUD elements - so I guess it was just an 'industry standard thing' they followed along with.
EQ Quarm server coming out will be my next endeavor for sure! Always wanted an oldschool p99 style server that went to luclin but no further than that.. so i will take a server that moves slightly past it and caps at PoP!! Hyper stoked for this😁
I'm very pleased that we have lots of MMOS being made for folks with different tastes. I'm not interested in solo focused MMOS though. I wish them well.

What this game needs to do is really embrace the whole chatGPT engine for it's npc's and npc players to really give it that real world feel!
I think I'd rather see Burgee media crowd-source comments from players. Let them submit comments to be added in game.

I would have been fine if Pantheon released with this level of graphics, honestly. It probably would have been close to release by now if it was.

Cool idea...and it is just my personal IMO only, but not a fan of the art style.
That's where I'm at but when it comes to graphics I usually chalk it up to my opinion. After all osrs us still wildly successful and so is minecraft.
