I remember what bothered me about the Buzz toy as a kid was that his helmet could never fully retract and that his wings were not as big as in the movie.
Yeah I also wish they could of done that.

to make the helmet easy yo put on and take off, what I did is I snipped off the supports that made it built in leaving a majority of the back pieces so that it had a key point and then I used a crystal clear glue to glue the two helmet pieces together, so you can take them off and put them on as one piece.

If you found the right person you could probably get a retractable visor it's just that springs need to be put in place and the wires would have to be moved or changed and you'd probably need new bits on the inside it would just be a bit expensive so this is a much better way
I’ve looked for 2 years no one can do it yet with Buzz current design it’s not realistic yet… to work like the movie.
I wish they’d somehow make a buzz to have one face shield that’s retractable so it’s more movie accurate, instead of having to take apart the two pieces.

I need to replace mine on the Utility Belt counterpart,because his helmet won't stay shut,I could see that it looked like a part in his helmet had cracked,so I'm going to have to order a replacement one.I'm hoping to have a helmetless Buzz soon,either Toy Story Collection slightly used EBay,or Takara Tomy Real Size Talking that can speak both English and Japanese.

Hey man! I just done this mod on my Buzz Lightyear I’ll be honest I was little bit anxious to do it because I didn’t want to ruin his electronics or anything but thankfully I followed your tutorial step by step tutorial and managed to get it done everything works as normal and he looks awesome.

Nice video! I know how to take off his helmet without taking him apart and I became a pro at it. One question btw! Do they still sell toy story collection buzz? and I would also like which stores you can get him at!
Sorry to say but stores don’t sell collection or signature collection anymore. I think they might come back when and if Toy Story 5 comes out. They seem to only be in stores for the movie promotion then after a year or so they stop selling them. The best times to buy toy story toys was in 2009-2011 (for Toy Story 3 movie promotion) and then in 2019 (for Toy Story 4 movie promotion), outside that time it’s hard to find, only eBay. So they only sell them for fast profit during movie promotional times. I really think it’s just a business strategy to cash out after the hype of a movie release.

No they are not interchangeable I’ve tried it does NOT work.

I just used a small screw driver make sure it’s smaller like from an eye glasses kit that comes with little or mini screwdrivers that should do the trick.

I am just curious how easy is it to put the front half of the helmet back on? Just the front half that’s all?
back half is a snap in, the front is the one that is complicated to attach and reattach because it has holes but you can't slip them out unless you unscrew him or break that front shield.

Thank you, thank you a lot! Yesterday I received a used Buzz won at an Ebay auction, and since it had only the back helmet piece, I decided to remove it. I was very hesitant, because it was really hard to remove and I was afraid to break it, but I finally did it! Now it looks awesome.

Exactly! Personally I felt the Disney store limited edition figures a little more accurate with the paint and karate chop action but the head was really awful. Wish we could post pictures on here! Looks pretty good imo now. :)

I think that if u get the jc penny buzz and swap the head with the karate chop action buzz it will be a more accurate buzz then the signature collection buzz if not can u still do the mod please thanks

That’s a good point but I don’t like the Disney store body of Buzz TSSC Buzz is pretty close to movie cause of rubber belly section and movie height.
I got the Collection Buzz 8 years ago from Toys R US and my dad is the one who took the whole helmet out because I was like 6 and I was scared that I would break it.

Yeah so crazy what a small adjustment can have on the overall look. This is my display buzz the other buzz I have white logo from 2010 will always stay in the movie accurate box.

For the life of me I cant get the screws out. They keep stripping my screw driver. And I'm using screwdriver I used to replace LCD on phones. Is there another way to do it? The screws wont come out and its stripping. Getting irritated.
that is not good...you may of used the wrong screwdriver because the right size would not strip them....I wish I could help you but I can't over the computer I would ask someone around you who knows about tools or fixing things and ask them to help you get the screws off but be VERY careful opening Buzz. IF you want to...just break the face shield off by pulling it hard with a pair of gator grips or like I said asking someone to help you with it if you can't get it..Hope this helps and sorry you're irritated, I would be too.
Okay so I did this, but the thing is, his interactive mode basically breaks the figure. For me, when I click the blue button, his head moves and talks but most of the time it will stop midphrase and reboot essentially. I don't lnow if there is a fix to this but it really sucks.
Yeah that’s why you have to be extra careful that’s the risk you take when modding a toy. I have had messages from many people who did it successfully like me. This is the first time I hear something went wrong with this mod. This is also why I don’t mod toys for people I don’t want the risk of damaging a toy that isn’t mine. When modding toys there is always a risk of something breaking or going wrong. Sorry to hear this happened to yours.

I have an idea for a customization people can do how about taking apart the communicator arm and taking out the wires from the wrist communicator so I won’t have any sound because I feel like in the movie it didn’t have sound and when his arm came off your sisters screw kind of thing so I believe that arm doesn’t have any sound effects just The laser and when he moves around you can hear a ratchet noise licking strange things and does anybody remember the Hasbro bus light-year try making a comparison with that and the one from the commercial in the movie when the kid was holding him you’ll see what I mean and maybe we can try looking at the making of Toy story to see all the parts for the Buzz light year in the movie It’s like what they said to see how the toys are going to move and the parts

At first , I actually plucked the helmet off. And, it automatically popped out easily. But, I almost broke it. But Thank goodness ,it wasn't.

Hmmm wouldn’t know how to do that because the signature design might not allow this.....

I wouldn’t recommend this if you plan to put the helmet back on. It’s hard to put back on if you don’t know how to do it right.

I did not have to unscrew it, I just PULLED HARD!! I know that is is irresponsible, but both of the pieces go back on easily with out unscrewing.

Disney Kaspar you don’t have to be it’s Disney fault really I think today I’m gonna take it back I’m more of a collector and to prove it to the Disney people I’ve still got his box which means he’s new and broken or it’s someone that likes to collect them and they don’t play with them I’m annoyed because I never even dropped him you can tell coz he’s not even got a scratch on him
Very happy went to the Disney store today and was out in 5 minutes with a brand new buzz light year
I couldn’t pull it off with my bare hands so after I unscrewed the body, I used the screwdriver as a chisel to get the back part of the helmet out.

The Disney store buzz lightyear with the button to retract halfway. It doesn’t retract fully but it’s better than having to manually do it
