My dog has thyroid issues as well. She'll be on meds for life. But she's not overweight. This doggie could probably get some help, he doesn't look too comfortable. He's so cute!
I was thinking that if he was being “treated” for a thyroid problem, they haven’t gotten his meds right yet. So glad he is catered to and loved regardless.
Yeah, I commented something similar. If he was on the right dose of thyroid meds, getting aquatic therapy (to exercise without stressing his joints) & on a tailored diet, he shouldn’t be 165lb. It broke my heart to see him struggling so much. Dogs don’t care about 1st class. They’d rather be able to run & play. With his weight issues & immobility, frequent flying puts him at risk for clots, just like with humans.
He can barely stand but can alert her when she is going to have a migraine. Give me a break. He’s overweight but gets a five star meal. Drama drama drama. This dog needs to stay home and get on an exercise health program.
He won't. This fluff piece isn't even about that. This poor dog is in such a sad state because of his owner, and he is going to die unable to walk. And they claim he is a service service dogs go through training, and have a license. I think this whole article is bull and upsetting.
@sleepysnuggs That's 🦬💩! You can NOT always tell if a person is disabled 😾 And they specified migraine/ seizure disorder, which you definitely can't diagnose just by looking at someone. Hank doesn't need to be energetically active to alert for those. But you should get active researching how these things work instead of spreading Ableist misinformation like this 🤨👎
She is a loyal good woman and has a great heart. Sometimes we appear to shower blessings and beyond for our pets , but to some ppl they maybe the only breathing creatures to be trusted
She needs to put him on a treadmill too help him lose weight. All the extra weight is bad on joints not to mention his organs in heart.I hope she will help him since he is helping her.
Yeah thyroid disease is no excuse. I have hypothyroidism and I’m not overweight. Yes it’s a lot harder to keep weight off when one has a thyroid condition but it is not impossible. She’s doing her dog a major disservice carting him around instead of controlling his weight with diet, exercise, and proper medication. She needs to do better.
Misguided love. He would be a lot happier having mobility and freedom to move like a normal dog, rather than all the food in the world. She controls his intake, so it's just being irresponsible.
My dog had a thyroid condition. Raw carnivore , cats claw, devils claw and levothyroxine, 3 drops of Lugosi in water a day, did the trick, lost all the extra weight,
Eh, hes not a service dog in the least. How does he alert? Bark? Give me a break. Hes precious and he deserves to go wherever his mom goes but hes not a service dog.
As a service dog handler with a seizure and cardiac alert dog. He could very well be a service dog for example my dog will whine as an alert if he can't paw me before i have a seizure but it's considered pretty unethical to work a disabled dog like this.
This isn't unethical. He is trained to do this. The only way to retire him would be to find him a home where nobody's known to have migraines and seizures. His training is automatic now. There's no undoing that.
How is that safe? If the dog is too big to move unless she pushes him he can't always be by her side or near her quickly to notify her. Yes the dog has a medical condition that is not well controlled so he should be disqualified as a service animal until he is more fit to do his job.
This is not a service dog, it's her unfortunate toy! Not being able to move takes away his ability to work and therefore his status of being a service dog.

@joymcclure564 ... so true about first class. For all he knows, he could be riding in the back of a pick up. And good point about blood clots 😬😳
I know someone with thyroid problem, it took her 7 years to lose weight, but not as thin as before her diagnosis
.
Pretty sure this dog is no longer with us. Definitely need to get your pet’s thyroids stable just like humans though!
It is extremely unethical to have a service dog who cannot walk.

Lmfao this comment was the best lol
A thyroid condition called Mom...
I get he has a thyroid condition… but I also think the owner is using this as an excuse to over feed him as well 😕
Me too, but it's still no excuse to be overweight. Work out, eat healthy ans take your meds - can't blame it on the thyroid alone.
All that food and not walking is another reason he’s overweight, you pushing him around and overfeeding him is not helping him😵💫
Hank needs better care. Thyroid conditions can be controlled. Do better.
You can tell she’s one of those people who cooks him steaks and feeds him a million times a day.
I'm sure she's working with a vet getting it under control cause he seems like he's very well taken care of flying first class an all 😅
