Hi Chris. I’m enjoying your videos. The bike seems to be running a lot sweeter now. The records I have show that for a 1961 Super Rocket the carburettor needle should be in position 2. The full data is as follows:- Bore 1 5/32”: Main Jet 420: Pilot Jet 25: Slide 3: Needle Position 2: Needle Jet .106 Hope this helps. Charlie.
Hi Charlie. Thanks for your comment and for looking into that. I ended up putting the needle in position 3 out of 5 on the day and it seems to be running well at the moment. I’ve made a note of the settings you provided in case ‘I’ need to do more investigating in the future. ‘I’ as in somebody else ha 😊
You will learn very quickly with Classic British bikes to get yourself a little tool kit together for these little tightening and maintenance jobs on the road! Saves a lot of fretting about things like your tank when you can stop and fix it out in a layby! Sounds sweet to me may even still be a bit tight after the rebuild?
Yes since then I’ve started to pull together a small tool kit to take up the limited room within the tool box (electronic ignition occupying most of the space). As for post rebuild tightness, I’m honestly no expert here, but it was still in the run-in phase then. Great bike, a truly rewarding ride 😊
I don't know about the rattle, but man I could hear bug or whatever hit you in the face. Your bike and I are the same age.....Your is in better shape though! 😆😆😆
Ha! Yes I took one for the team with that one. He won’t be flying into anyone else’s visor let’s put it that way. Ha, well she’s had an easy life as of late 😂
