YOU ARE AMAZING. We spent a lot of money on the products today to update our reptile room with the plugs boards and temperature sensors. We have several racks and living room tanks. We use to use all old school timers and thermostats. I’m having a hard time to work out how you automatically turned off a tank at a certain temperature with the temperature sensor. I’m wanting to turn all the heat cord off like we did with the old school stuff. All I can find is the location temperature in the app settings. After we watched your video it was off to Bunnings. The best purchase ever. I can’t believe your not sponsored yet by Bunnings.
Once it’s all set up and you work it out it’s fantastic! I still use regular thermostats on my snakes and snake racks but still have them connected to grid connect sockets for extra control when room temps get high etc. I’m glad you got something out of it!
@@rachelhovenden3669 glad you like the podcast Rachel! Yep still use loads of them. I use them on heat cords, heat mats, heat panels and deep heat protectors. I don’t use them on heat globes for the dragons or monitors though. I rely on the correct choice of wattage globe and the grid connect gear to turn them off if needed.
Wow. I only just saw this video. I had a couple of single Grid Connect single PowerPoint adapters. I had no idea about the sunrise/sunset feature. I works great.
This might be exactly what I’ve been trying to find for a week now. I have a python and a gecko and I’m not getting any more (no plans at least) and I live on the east coast of the US so I can’t have heat entirely off at night. Can you have 1 or 2 heating units per enclosure be run by thermostats with probes in the enclosures? And still be part of the grid? Edit: more info. I’m planning to upgrade both reptiles into larger enclosures and bioactives as well. UVB, led grow lights. I’ve been using a herpstat with the python and I’ve loved it for years knowing it’s managing the heating panel and keeping Paul at the right temp. I have another herpstat coming tomorrow to upgrade the gecko. I have an adequate pet store thermostat but I can’t live without the herpstat. Edit 2: I don’t think it’s available in the US. :( Can you ship me some? Hahahaha
I believe that if there is a power outage, the grid connect power boards re-set to the correct time and will continue whatever cycle they’re in so there will be no time lag like there would be with the analogue timers. Bunnings here I come!!!
I got the grid connect power board from your recommendation, my set up is nowhere near as hi-tek as yours but the beauty of the grid connect is that you can grow into it and add things as you need it. Thanks for the video
Love it! So much cool gear. One thing I’d stress to everyone is don’t undervalue the use of actual thermostats! As someone who occasionally has shocking internet (essential for all these wifi goodies) things can not work so smoothly and you don’t want to leave it all hanging on the automation!
100% mate! Nothing will replace good old non wifi thermostats! That’s exactly why I mentioned it. Luckily I’ve got great internet where I am and it’s working awesome thus far.
I can confirm I love these as well. Like you mentioned I have now put my mistking on it purely for the option of being able to turn on the system remotely of the room gets a bit to hot. Thanks for pointing me in this direction I love it.
I can't speak more Highly on the Grid Connect products. I've been using them for a year now and haven't had an issue. Just set my Dragons and snakes all to the sunset and sunrise setting this morning let's see how it goes. Not sure why I haven't been using that option
I love the grid connect stuff. I have as you were talking about. Put all my leds on the sunrise/sunset. And it’s awesome. Never have to do a thing when it comes to lights or heating
I was hoping you'd make a video like this, what a great system I'll definitely be making the conversion from the 'Brilliant-Smart' brand which freaks out in a power outage to these ones
I am looking to set something up for my 3 enclosures for 3 leopard geckos but after going through the grid connect website, I am unsure of what products I should be getting for them. I have 3 separate light fixtures that have 2 plugs each - one for daytime lights and one for nighttime lights on each fixture, I do not have any humidifiers but usually just spray some water in their tanks when humidity is too low. Do you recommend specific products from grid connect to do this?
A standard 4 point board would work and you can just use a small powerboard attached to each grid connect socket. That’s what I do for each channel of light (uvb/heat/led) to run them at different times.
This is the future of reptile keeping! I regret investing in the tp-link Kasa range, it’s more expensive and have a smaller range of products than arlec grid-connect. Do you have anything you dislike about the grid connect system? In terms of accuracy and reliability
I love watching your Gillens run around in the background 🤣 they are such cool dudes super interactive!
Haha yeah they never stop!

Love it! got mine today and then stumbled onto this!
Hopefully the video helps a little! I love the gear hey.

Glad you found it mate 😉 they are pretty useful!
Definitely looking into this grate product 👍

I just can't seem to get mine to work in the new house but when they work they are fantastic
Did you remove the item from the app and re- set it up? That’s how I got mine to work with my recent move.
I believe that if there is a power outage, the grid connect power boards re-set to the correct time and will continue whatever cycle they’re in so there will be no time lag like there would be with the analogue timers. Bunnings here I come!!!
Yep that is correct!
This is my experience with them. I think it’s because you set the time in the app rather than on the device itself as you do with an analogue.
I went out and purchased 3 boards straight after your first video with them... I love how organised it can make your setups
Good stuff! Hope you like them as much as I do.
That’s a great idea ,do you use this system on your geckos too
It’s on everything now :)

Does anyone know where some Gillens are selling?

It’s a new addiction hey! I think I may do the same for my mistking!

I got the ceiling fan, it works great! I'm going to get a plug base to hook an exhaust fan up as well to suck some hot air out of the room.
All going to plan I’d love to put them in! An exhaust fans a great idea.

@@BeachesScalyBeasts yeah I use some in the house also. I haven’t turned the kitchen light on or off in months. It’s fully automated also

This is great info! I am already using the power-boards on half my stuff & this has been really helpful! Im gunna upgrade some stuff haha
Glad it helped out!
Hey Luke, great video mate, I must try this. Where did you manage to get your Gillens Monitors?
I got them off another couple of hobbyists years ago. Both don’t unfortunately keep them any longer.
@@BeachesScalyBeasts Thanks
Hey mate loved the video, just wondering what globes you use as heating for the gillens monitors?
I use incandescent reptile globes and incandescent Phillips heat globes.

Nothing I have found yet that I dislike. I look forward to using more of it.
@@BeachesScalyBeasts I might have to make the switch someday then
The only thing i have found is that the app can be slightly slow sometimes but other than that works like a charm
