    It was a long time since I last modified a 302 with a MP, PUM, Crosswind, HT 100 drag and I got stuck getting the anti reverse setup figured out if it wasn’t for your video. I do like and prefer these to 706z worm gears and they are just solid and straightforward decades later.

      Happy to hear the video helped, Matt! Both track systems have their advantages and drawbacks, but totally get what you mean regarding durability. Spread the word about the channel. Barry

      Thanks Y L! Got in a TLD25 with the drag locking up. Think it'll have useful info in there, so I'll probably record it and get the video up in a week or two

    Have 6 of these to service. Suffering from extreme neglect. Watched this for a refresher. Two thumbs up! BTW, do you use any oil on the metal drag washers?

      Thanks! Nice reels. All the best with the service. No, I don't grease them, but you could if you want to.... I don't think it'd decrease the top end that much.

    Thanks for that video. My 302 is working great, but the bailing wire doesn't seem to be going far enough up and the line hits it as it spools off. limiting cast distance any suggestions

      You're welcome and thanks for checking out the video. I know what you're referring to... assuming that your bail mount is fine, try GENTLY bending the bail wire more and more OPEN when it's already in the open position by pulling back on it until it's in an acceptable "open" position. The goal is to try and get the bail wire to be more "open" in the open position without snapping the bail wire connection point near the cone (by the line roller)..... or, you can try purchasing a new bail wire here: ebay.us/qaToFr (affiliate link). Hope this helps.

    Just serviced my 302 but it’s still cranking slow which was the problem to start with. I have another one that cranks free and easy. More troubleshooting I guess. Good video!

      Thanks for watching, Jimi! Sorry to hear the problem still exists. What have checked so far? Any noises/scraping sounds when you crank?

    • @jimit6398
      @jimit6398 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TSGReelService No noises. Disassembled and cleaned again this time using WD40 on all friction areas. New oil and grease and now cranks much better. Thanks for your input!

    Had that reel ever been in service? When you took it apart it looked like there was virtually no grease or oil on any of the inner parts - no grease on the oscillator or anything 🤔. Most of the ones I have worked on that were used were filthy inside and full of old brown grease.

      No clue, brother. Yes, most of the time you find a lot of crud and dried stuff in these older ones. Maybe it was stored outside and the grease broke down?

    Could you recommend a vintage rod to accompany the 302 reel. Thanks

      Thanks for watching! What do you consider vintage and why does it have to be vintage?

      @@TSGReelService I just bought the 302 at an estates sales new in box so I’m looking to match it to a nice rod from the seventies I’m thinking that’s the same time the reel was made

      Unless you're just looking to display it, I would stay away from rods that age and use a newer medium/heavy 6' to 6' 6" rod that feels good in your hands. Hit up bass pro with your reel in hand and play with a few to see how they feel.... or have one custom made.
