My grandfather, Roland M. Trayte, son of William and Jane Trayte, was born in Swanage and emigrated to America about 1890 abord the steamship California and settled in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. What a lovely, beautiful place Swanage is.
Had a holiday in Bournemouth, summer 2021, and the day trip by bus to Swanage was the highlight. This delightful coastal hideaway was beautiful. The fish and chips were quite possibly the best in my 60 years, unfortunately ive forgotten the name, but it was just down from Harry Ramsdens. I'd highly recommend a visit. Id retire there if i could. 😅
Used to live in Swanage for about 8 years moved up to Darlington hope to visit next used to help out on steam railway I heard they moved the cafe to Cofe Castle
You missed so much out in Swanage. Where is the fantastic steam railway one of the main attractions . Where is the pier its great to walk down as their are tons of brass plaques on the floor any one can buy one use it as a tribute a rememberence of people etc. This video missed out so much. My Mum lived there. There are beautiful green places like the Downs & more.
No coverage of Swanage Steam Railway, no visual coverage of Swanage pier and really rubbish backing track, I love Swanage and visit every year but this ‘tour’ is a bit lacking in content.
It's nothing like it used to be. As child I had some wonderful holidays in Swanage in the 60's, I had loads of relatives to see. My dad was born it Swanage and my grandfather way back in the middle to late 40's was the lighthouse keeper at Anvil Point.

Hi great video but music jarring
And difficult to see the information p
Where was the pier, steam railway and mill pond? It used to be my second home when I lived in England.
Nice video of a lovely spot. Music a bit irritating. Would be nicer to hear the sounds of the place.

Personally I think Swanage has changed remarkably little in the 45 years that I've been going there.
