My daughter's dog, Phantom, recently left us and she made a video using the original version and used pictures of her and Phantom. I remember the song when it came out but didn't remember it was about a dog. The song now has a different meaning to me. I play guitar and sing and was working out the song and found the middle part very difficult to figure out. I did a search and found your video and it made it so much easier to figure out. You did a great job playing and singing it. With Phantom gone and my daughter making a video and using this song well all I can say it was very emotional for me and others in our family. I've never felt this way before about the loss of a pet. So I'm recording my version and will drop it in the video and post on TH-cam. Maybe someday you'll hear it. You deserve more followers. Thanks for your help.

Thanks so much for your comment! Sorry to hear about the loss of Phantom. That's a cool name for a dog. I'm glad to know this song will have a special meaning to you. I'm a big fan of Harry Nilsson. When I recorded this I did the same thing. I was unclear about the chords on the chorus. I watched quite a few TH-cam videos and no one was playing the chords right. I think I might have found one that was close. So I figured out the correct chords. I like to play certain songs as close to the record as I can. At least chord-wise. Not too many listeners have commented like you. I do put some effort in to it. So I'm glad it helped you to learn the song. I'll listen to some of your videos too! Thanks again!

Sharon this LP came out in late 1970 and there was an animated TV special that came out a few weeks later in 1971. Did you ever see it? It's great and the LP is excellent!
