This Prout is still up for sale! What a unique and special catamaran if you can afford the asking price of US$ 267,000. IMO it's worth it if you are looking for a unique bluewater cat with beautiful lines!
I saw this Prout several years ago while its hulls were being painted blue here in Maryland. A nice catamaran indeed. But, IMO, overpriced for its age and such (which is proven by being on the market for more than 6 years). Trouble with most used catamarans for sale is that their owners most always forget that they do depreciate (being a boat, more so than most assets such as most used homes for sale). This particular catamaran is over 22 years old. Plus the Aero Rig (instead of standard rigging) is also over 22 years old and if and when it needs to be replaced or repaired it will no doubt be a huge expense indeed. And not many sail boats (catamarans or monohulls) have accepted/used them over the years. Not to say that it is a reflection on its design or performance and such just that ... I will send Caroline ( the Neil Diamond song "Sweet Caroline" pops into my mind, haha) an offer via e-mail. By the way, did you know that song was penned by Diamond based on JFK's daughter ? Yep. it is true.
Personally, I think that Neil may have altered the "history" of the song based on who he was around, or about the situations around him. In a 2011 interview he said that a picture of Caroline Kennedy on a horse (with parents in the background) stuck in his head and five years later the song came together about her. BUT... in 2014, in an interview with CNN he said that the song was really about his wife at the time, but he had a hard time finding words to rhyme with 'Marsha' -- he needed a three-syllable name... and so he simply used Caroline. My old boss had a prout sirocco 26 called Felix , was apparently the last boat to leave the old factory in Canvey island and when the storage shed was opened where the hull was being kept a black and white cat jumped out of the boat and ran out of the door , my old boss immediately knew he was going to call the boat Felix
