    To complete your video, please talk about the lobster clips that are used in the Booster seat mode. I have been trying to find this answer, and no one discuses their use, yet it is imperative to know the seat is secure in any mode. thanks.

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lisa, Sorry I don't know what "lobster clips" you are referring to. Do you mean the UAS Latch system? If so it's optional to attach a booster using the latch system. Many boosters don't have UAS as an option. The seat belt holds a booster and child in place, unlike in harnessed mode when the seat needs to be attached with the seat belt or UAS and the harness holds the child in place. The UAS can be handy so the seat is not a projectile when it's not in use by a child, but doesn't change safety for your child while the booster seat is in use. I have a booster seat safety video if you want to learn more about booster use.

      @@WithCare In addition to your helpful video, I also watch another one, in which they displayed the latch system (we call them lobster clips) with the ClickTight Grow with You (new equivalent of Pinnacle). For someone who is a cpst and driving a Pacifica you cannot remove the headrests?

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Savanna, Sorry I'm confused by your comment. Each vehicle year, make and model is different. If your particular vehicle manual says that you can't remove the headrests (or they are firmly attached without possibility of removal) and your seat doesn't fit with the head rest in place, then the seat is incompatible with the vehicle. Some seats in booster mode require a headrest all the way up behind them, while others do not. I hope that helps. Warmly, Carolyn

  • @rachelyvoloch
    @rachelyvoloch ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, our top tether is not behind the seat like yours but behind the seat in the top. To tighten the top thether i removed completly the headrest of the vehcile. Is that ok? Should i tighten it up with the headrest connected to the seat? While the top thether is around it?

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rachel. Great question. It really depends on the specific vehicle model, and the particular car seat. Some vehicles prohibit the removal of head rests, while others allow removal. In addition some car seats have specific instructions in their manual about the exact way their tether should be routed, and some require a head rest to be in place. You can check the child safety portion of your vehicle manual and compare it with the car seat manual to see if there are any incompatibilities with installation. When in doubt I recommend calling your car seat company's customer service line. The customer service team at Britax is amazing and always eager to help parents solve their problems. So for the booster do you have to attach the car seat to the car or just use the seatbelt across?

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jennifer, Yes a booster seat is kept in place by the child's weight and the seatbelt. Having the option to attach the booster seat to the car via the UAS latch system means the seat is not a projectile while not in use. Some seats offer this while others do not. I hope that helps. @WithCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Root Rover Woodworks. I'm not sure which "vehicle harness system" you mean. A vehicle has seat belts, not a harness system. Seat Belts (in the correct location, as deemed by the vehicle manual) can be used for a booster seat installation, or to install the car seat in harness mode. Both methods are explained and shown in this video. If you have any other questions please feel free to send them along.

    So watching your great video, installing the seat was fairly easy. Tightening the back harness was a little more difficult in a sedan once the seat belt was clicked in tight. Also, no explanation on how to put a three year old boy in the harness. We finally found the "secret" button that released that front strap and the shoulder straps. Then you just pull that front strap to tighten child to seat? Ty

    do you have to have the headrest of the vehicle seat on?

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jolie, It depends on your vehicle and the particular seat. You should check your vehicle manual to see if removing the headrest is allowed. Britax allows removal of the vehicle headrest if it interferes with proper seat installation and use, but only if your vehicle manufacturer allows it also.
      Here is their exact wording "In some cases, the vehicle head restraint can prevent the child seat head restraint from being raised high enough to properly adjust the harness for the fit of your child. DO NOT force the child seat head restraint. Doing so could cause the child seat not to perform as intended. If the location of the vehicle head restraint interferes with the child seat head restraint, raise or remove the vehicle head restraint. If the vehicle head restraint cannot be removed, move the child seat to the upright position or try a different seating location."

In harness mode either positions can be used (as long as it installs properly in your vehicle and works for your child). Once in booster mode the seat always needs to be in the upright position. In HBB mode, do you need to pull the seat belt so that it retracts and tightens?

    • @WithCare
      @WithCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shana, typically in booster mode you do not engage the automatic retractor and lock the seat belt. There may be times that a child passenger safety technician recommends to lock the belt with a particular seat and scenario (as always please follow your manufacturers instructions), but usually we do not lock the mechanism on the seat belt when using as a booster seat. The emergency retractor will engage in the case of a collision or hard breaking. I hope that helps.

      @@CoryLancasterYT thanks for your concern but as a CPST who worked with Britax and their team to create this video I am confident it’s correct. As per page 15 and 18 of the manual it’s very clearly laid out. Booster seats are held in place by the strength of the car seat belt and the weight of the occupant. If no one is in the seat and it’s not buckled in place it can become a dangerous projectile which is why using the latch system can be handy, but it is not mandatory for this seat.
