  • Trapping is a common technique in Jeet Kune Do and Wing Chun. However, many people struggle to use it effectively in sparring or real fights. Here, Sifu Singh demonstrates the mechanics and training methods to make trapping work in live situations.

    The most useful trapping for self defense is defensive trapping (clinch). Most people in fights aren't trained fighters that know how to block / parry attacks. When someone comes swining at you like a wild animal, you need to be able to clinch their arms to prevent them from hitting you.

    Guys talented but this never translates well against a resisting opponent in free sparring as sparring is too variable. You enter and do a shot but you have to take one too, I'm not saying it will never work just more likely in a drill. Same with all demonstrations, dont translate well. This guy seems a good teacher.

      Waste of time. Look into Tommy Carruthers online lessons. What Tommy teaches is authentic JKD following Bruce’s principles of simplicity and directness. This is basically wing chun which Bruce moved away from because he found more effective and streamlined methods: there are a lot I guys like this guy teaching outdated methods and curriculum Bruce stopped teaching.

    It’s more parrying than “trapping”
    Edit: Still great techniques

      trapping can be the denial or limiting of function of a limb, so it becomes a bit of choice of words- trap is bit of umbrella over which a parry may be part. My two cents but interesting.

    I dunno what that was but it's not classic trapping, that's westernised and relies on power. Should be using little pulls, pushes to off balance them, use palm shots to disorientate them and set up. Going High low simultaneously incorporating trapping the feet. It's total domination of the opponent using knowledge of body mechanics and distraction techniques. It's not sparring, it's purely offensive

      The video shows that it is Jeet Kune Do. You can also notice how he closes the striking distance, with his footwork, the same way that Bruce Lee demonstrated many times. Check it Out! Ciao!!!

      This is called Jeet Kune Do - the way of the intercepting fists by the legendary Bruce Lee! This is for the streets not playing Around! Go learn it!!!

      How are you going to knockout your opponent without power?

    • @buttyug
      @buttyug 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zetareticulan321 power can enhance a technique and make it more effective, but if you rely on power instead of good technique it suddenly becomes alot more difficult when there is someone with power

    Doesn’t look like martial arts. Looks like a boxing match. Not geared for self defense. Put down the threat immediately.
