I have a video where I was able to sing to my son-on his 29th b.day. It is precious because it was his last one and even though he had many burns and pain, he was mouthing along with me. He loved my D.D. voice. Thanks for this, it lightened my sadness, a bit. K
It sounds like you're on the right track and yes...practice is definitely key! As I said in the video, the position of your tongue really doesn't matter. The air pocket isn't actually very big...it's just air being directed from the back side of you mouth. IF you were to clench your jaw, you would feel the jaw muscle...that is he area where the little tickle and air pocket should be coming from (don't clench while you're doing it though). I can do everything theduckvoice can do.Even beatbox i figured it out when you talk,just like softly and gently blow your cheek while you speak.if you want the highest pitch of donald duck's voice,try to maker the air pocket bigger, if you want low pitch make it smaller, if you cant do the air pocket try pinching your cheek outwards. To truly master Donald Duck, you have to be able to do low, frustrated grumbling. Most of the people I know who can do the duck voice sound like Yakkie Doodle, but not Donald Duck.

You need to hone the sound/s you can make and start expanding on other sounds until you can form words...if you are doing the sound right, you'll get it! :)

Odeh I learned to talk like Mickey quite quickly, but learning to talk like Donald took some time. His voice is harder to master :)
