E46 Exhaust Cut-Out, How did it fail?

For the Connector where did you tap in by the transmission? Or did you run the extended cable under until the back ans then tap in? I'm going to run it with a cigarette lighter do different to yours but still wondering where to tap in to have it by the center console

I ran it through a hole that was already there next to the shifter under the trim and carpet, I believe the hole is there for the wiring on the automatic transmissions, but I came up next to shifter and taped into cigarette lighter, super easy, didn’t even have to use the extension
